	So I have a new wig from dollsnshop that's kind of similar to the one pictured, bangs then longer, and I would like to add hair vents to it like seen below (lovely photo by dollmoondesign), how is this accomplished? I have another wig I can do heat tests on, but what tools are used to accomplish this? Or is this done to the weft before it's attached to the headcap?
</p>

<p>
	<img class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="21403" data-ratio="64.49" width="428" alt="image.png.67bb070d0f621d38af4f079bee4468c9.png" data-src="https://www.dolldreaming.com/uploads/monthly_2026_02/image.png.67bb070d0f621d38af4f079bee4468c9.png" src="https://www.dolldreaming.com/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />
</p>

<p>
	Love to hear your thoughts! Also, this pic is not using any kind of wax fyi. I have another dollmoondesign wig with hair vents and it's essentially like, a crimp in the weft, but its so darn tiny I have no idea how it was done.

	Okay, so, I am curious on what materials do you guys use to paint on the head since I have not seen an internet guide on how to make an custom head on DDH-09 for example.

	I'm considering an Imomodoll head for a hybrid doll. I came across a post on XiaoHongXu while looking around for inspiration where someone had modified a Lucifer head to have an open mouth to insert other mouth pieces into (a version for teeth, a version for tongue sticking out, etc).
</p>

<p>
	<a href="https://www.janesdolland.com/product-page/asleep-eidolon-1-4-doll-pine-cone" rel="external nofollow">Similar to the way this <abbr title="Ball-Jointed Doll">BJD</abbr>'s mouth works. </a>
</p>

<p>
	I haven't actually had an Imomodoll before, so I wondered if anyone here had any experience with carving out the mouth area for a custom opened mouth. Are the heads very stiff and hard, or are they more squishy like the small Obitsu heads? If you've reshaped the eyes, your experience with that would also be helpful for deciding whether or not this is realistic for me to try, or if there would be special equipment needed, etc. Thank you!

	I thought it would be about time to make a little thread to combine my various faceup and custom works into a neat place.
</p>

<p>
	And because I have two little guys in the works right now, might as well start with them.
</p>

<p>
	These chubby tiny things are going to be a red panda and bunny respectively and it was my first adventure into the realm of airbrush. Not the cleanest work, but I decided to just roll with it and say the little particles are part of the look. The wig there is not cut and styled yet and I am still waiting for the material to do the ears and tails.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	The other current project is technically already finished, I just have to see if I still have a wig for his big ol noggin.
</p>

<p>
	Bonbon Galaxy did great work with that doll, the proportions are so cute and it is pleasant to pose and play with. I got the resin version, so it also has a nice weight.
</p>

<p>
	<img class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="20511" data-ratio="132.89" width="903" alt="PXL_20251004_090542046.jpg.527b7afb4a5dd73c92a64d199550d2e5.jpg" data-src="https://www.dolldreaming.com/uploads/monthly_2025_10/PXL_20251004_090542046.jpg.527b7afb4a5dd73c92a64d199550d2e5.jpg" src="https://www.dolldreaming.com/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />
</p>

<p>
	And for future projects ... I caved in and grabbed this banged up DDH-10 from Manda today. I just really like the sculpt and what is already there from the mod, so I am looking forward to polishing and finishing this poor thing. Thankfully the headcap seems to have got it worst in terms of staining and that doesn't really bother me. I might also modify the eye faceup instead of removing it completely, but I will decide that once I have it here.
</p>

	I'm still unsure if abs dolls are technically on-topic, but the head in question is definitely on the anime style side and I feel like people here have more experience with that for obvious reasons.
</p>

<p>
	I purchased a UFdoll and the previous idea I had for it ended up going to a different head. Now I'm considering something else for it: Gear 5 Luffy. Because I'm a dweeb and I love him (I have so much gear 5 merch) but the thing is, this head has a sculpted smile:<img class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="19850" data-ratio="133.39" width="614" alt="25-05-30-21-04-29-035_deco.jpg.7bb23245dc9ac7159097b3a6207a361e.jpg" data-src="https://www.dolldreaming.com/uploads/monthly_2025_05/25-05-30-21-04-29-035_deco.jpg.7bb23245dc9ac7159097b3a6207a361e.jpg" src="https://www.dolldreaming.com/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />
</p>

<p>
	So my question is: Is it possible or even feasible to give him anything like either smile below with ONLY paint. I'm not doing any crazy mods<img class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="19851" data-ratio="133.48" width="899" alt="25-05-30-21-05-05-654_deco.jpg.8f67f8b01d869c8aaf3fa195074d5b82.jpg" data-src="https://www.dolldreaming.com/uploads/monthly_2025_05/25-05-30-21-05-05-654_deco.jpg.8f67f8b01d869c8aaf3fa195074d5b82.jpg" src="https://www.dolldreaming.com/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />
</p>

<p>
	Like has anyone done it without looking strange and can show me pictures? I'm not awesome at visualizing a lot of times.
</p>

<p>
	Or do you think it's best I simply give him a calmer smile a lot of merch has?:<img class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="19852" data-ratio="133.39" width="614" alt="25-05-30-21-05-23-925_deco.jpg.3e9f0ebadba02260eaa06210626da1e9.jpg" data-src="https://www.dolldreaming.com/uploads/monthly_2025_05/25-05-30-21-05-23-925_deco.jpg.3e9f0ebadba02260eaa06210626da1e9.jpg" src="https://www.dolldreaming.com/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	OR alternatively: do YOU have another opinion who this head could be?<span class="ipsEmoji">🤔</span>

		I’m going to be getting my first airbrush soon, and I wondered what experienced<span> </span>doll customizers are using.  I’ve never had an airbrush before, but I come from a fine arts background, and I’m a very experienced digital artist (20+ years).  I want to use it to paint dolls, toys, and customized figures.  Eventually I’d also like to paint sneakers, but I might actually need a different brush for that, since it’s flood filling instead of fine detail work.
	</p>

	<p>
		At the moment I<span> </span>am wholly focused on dolls, so I want a brush to be able to do faceups and body blushing.  What airbrushes would you suggest?  I also need to get a compressor, since I don’t currently have one.

	Does anyone have a favorite face-up artist that can work on 1/6 heads that anyone can recommend? I have 2-3 new doll projects in mind, but I can't get the looks I want without a custom job. I'd like to shell a 1/6 Sailor Saturn/ Hotaru Tomoe, and a face-up that is inspired by a Volks classroom head I saw in an old doll magazine advertisement. I can provide scans of the Volks ad since I still have the magazine. Any thoughts or suggestions?

<p>So I feel like this is a much needed thing for the people who like to do customs. It is often really hard to find clean blank pictures of limited molds. </p>
<p> </p>
<p>I will be updating this list as time goes by. In order to keep clutter down please only post with an actual contribution!! It will keep the thread more organized. </p>
<p> </p>
<p>A proper post should have a straight shot and two profile shots from each side minimum. Additional angles welcome.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Mark your post clearly in this format:</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Pictures</p>
<p>Mold name</p>
<p>Skin color</p>
<p>Default eye size</p>
<p> </p>
<p>And example would be:</p>
<p>Pic pic pic</p>
<p>Mai Shiranui</p>
<p>Normal skin</p>
<p>22mm</p>
<p> </p>
<p>This format answers most basic questions when trying to make a custom dollfie I believe. If you think I should modify the form PM me. </p>
<p> </p>
<p>Here is the list of all limited models, any ones that share the same head mold will be lumped into one. Any limited that have been posted below will have a ☆ next to the name. ((Note all Sabers are the same head except Lily, even the new one coming out))</p>

	So I’ve been practicing to do my own faceups but I’ve hit a problem…
</p>

<p>
	I use water color to do eyeliner and lashes on my doll heads, and I’m not sure how to make it look smoother, currently it all turns out really blotchy because everytime I stroke my brush to make a certain area darker it ends up sorta cleaning up the paint instead ;-; does anyone know how to prevent this?

	Hello!
</p>

<p>
	I'm new to the forum and somewhat new to collecting dolls, hopefully this is the right spot to put this.
</p>

<p>
	So I recently read on some resin <abbr title="Ball-Jointed Doll">BJD</abbr> forums/groups that just sanding resin for faceups requires a respirator + filters as well as sanding outdoors because the resin dust is toxic. I'm aware that you need the same respirator + filters when spraying MSC as well. But is sanding vinyl the same? It's really hard to find any people talking about whether it's safe/dangerous etc, only posts about MSC. Is an N95 mask enough for sanding vinyl or should I wear a respirator too? I have been wearing an N95 for doing mouth mods on my vinyl dolls, but after reading about resin dust being toxic I'm pretty scared of the complications with black lung and the like so want to be careful and make sure. Thanks all <span><img alt=":)" data-emoticon="" height="18" src="https://www.dolldreaming.com/uploads/emoticons/1.gif.9ea4615a45a6f991271871b9405a892b.gif" title=":)" width="18" /></span>

	I'm thinking of "customizing" an Imomo head using decal stickers and was wondering if anyone who's tried it before could tell me whether its worth it and how easy it is. Does it look good? Do I need to know anything to avoid messing up? If you have pictures, I'd love to see them!

</p>

<p>
	The head in question is a Miko so it has open eyes and the decals I want to buy are these <span>:</span>

	I bought an Imomodoll Ruby A head awhile back and have taken a few wild swings at a face. I'm not GREAT at illustrating but I'd say I'm competent and I'm looking to spend as little money as possible on this hobby so I really want to be able to do my own. I laid down a couple coats of Mr. Super Clear and came up with a base sketch. It's going to take a lot of practice and several attempts, so I'm going to do a fresh sketch every single evening during the work week to facilitate that.
</p>

<p>
	It's *really* not much to look at now but I'm hopeful that I'll be able to improve over time!

	Hello!
</p>

<p>
	I’d love to know if anyone is willing to share any good tips and resources on fully blushing a <abbr title="Dollfie Dream">DD</abbr> body. Most of the tutorials I find are for resins and I’m unsure if the skill crosses over? She’s also tan but I doubt that factors in much?
</p>

<p>
	As a side note, the lovely lady I wish to blush has a silicone chest mode which I’m assuming needs to be airbrushed instead? I have an airbrush and all the equipment needed to use it but have only used it on gunpla painting forever ago for very basic things so I’m not very confident with it at all, lol. So I’d prefer to use pastels where I can!
</p>

<p>
	Thanks in advance in you have any tricks! Time to stock up on MSC. <span class="ipsEmoji">😆</span>

	I’ve given up on doing hand blushing, because I always seem to rub it off as I try to pose my doll’s arms. It hasn’t been as bad on my doll’s face, but I wonder if the faceup would also rub off if I handled it as much as the hands.
</p>

<p>
	The thing is, I’ve always sealed the hands with Mr. Super Clear — sprayed about 15-ish times over the course of an hour. I’m not sure if I just need more layers, or to wait more between spraying. Or maybe MSC isn’t the right tool for the job? What does everyone else do?
</p>

<p>
	I’m also wondering if it’s because Imomodoll’s vinyl hands do something weird with MSC that makes it never completely set…
</p>

	What are your favourite paints for faceups? I pretty much hate my current acrylic paints, they are way too thick even with thinner ans difficult to get even lines, but then they seem to be also badly pigmented. I'm looking at some modeling paints but I have no idea which ones are good! I'm looking at modeling paints, but there's a lot of different ones confusing me. I've heard vallejo and tamiya are good at least?

	Hey!
</p>

<p>
	First thing's first, I got lucky rather recently. Managed to get my grubby hands on a very mischievous looking Cat Cocoa head from Shoushou Doll and I already have a body for him in mind. I saw this head on a <abbr title="Mini Dollfie Dream">MDD</abbr> body in <abbr title="Den of Angels">DoA</abbr> and a Imomodoll body here, so I planned on giving him one of those two (likely the <abbr title="Mini Dollfie Dream">MDD</abbr> one since I prefer it). So I wanted some ideas on ways that I can put a resin <abbr title="Ball-Jointed Doll">BJD</abbr> head on a vinyl body and allow it to stay. I want to know as many techniques as I can before figuring something out.
</p>

<p>
	Thanks for any advice!

	I was wanting to make a band-aid to go on the face of one of my dolls but not wanting to just have it painted on flat. I'm unsure which material to use. Has anyone done this sort of thing?
</p>

<p>
	My first thought is to use an air dry clay? But I'm worried if I can't get it off if I ever want to change it in future. I don't know. Let me know if you have an idea
