    Tales from the Quarantine

Fortunately, being stuck at home is not half as boring when you have some dolls around. Finally some time to do stories - here's the first one.
  2. >The first page in this post is now a FAQ about all dolls related to VMF50, Angel Philia, Yamato, Arcadia, RealArtProject, Dollcore, Pink Drops, etc< *This thread contains photos of naked and scantily-clad dolls, and some photos may be implicitly sexually suggestive, so please view it at your own discretion.* For the purposes of this FAQ: If I talk about "VMF Dolls" it refers to any of the above kind of dolls unless otherwise specifically noted. This is because although there are now different brands/lines of these dolls, most of the information is relevant (useful) to all of them. Likewise, you can substitute where I wrote about "Yamato" for "Arcadia" or "R.A.P." when i am referring to the dolls in a general sense and not specifically talking about one particular doll. A lot of the information about these dolls on the first couple pages of this discussion thread is either A) out of date or B) wrong, since not much was known about them here when I started the thread last year. So please read the FAQ or ask a question in the most recent pages of the thread to get more accurate and correct info. If you find inaccurate information in the FAQ or have news and pictures that I haven't added, either post it in the thread or PM it to me, and I will add it if I think it's appropriate. Quick Explanation of VMF-type dolls: VMFs are 48-50cm height dolls that use the Obitsu skeleton as a base internal frame. They started out as lightly-modified Obitsu body and face sculpts, some of which had painted eyes, but quickly changed to become more heavily-modified sculpts that use a wig and interchangeable eye system. Unlike the default Obitsu 48-50 body, VMF dolls have different sculpted proportions and body shapes despite being exactly the same on the inside of the doll. They were first produced by the company "Yamato" under the name "VMF50". Yamato also had a collaboration with a side-company called "RealArtProject" which made a line of dolls together under the name "Dollcore". In 2013 Yamato rebranded themselves as "Arcadia" and started a new line of VMF-type dolls called "Angel Philia", but they continue to work with RealArtProject on a new sideline of dolls, which are now called "Pink Drops". (sidenote: i believe that RAP is actually copyrighted to or owned by in Arcadia in some way, but can not confirm this) This FAQ contains more detailed information on the differences between these dolls, how to buy them, etc. Disclaimer: Information may not always be up to date, and the FAQ itself is still an incomplete WIP. Official links are below. You can find unofficial links throughout the FAQ and near the end of it: http://angel-philia.com/ (Angel Philia official mainsite & website shop) http://arcadia.ac/ (Arcadia official website) http://ameblo.jp/tommy-ac/ (official Angel Philia blog) https://twitter.com/ANGEL_PHILIA (Angel Philia twitter) http://thewonder.it/Tommy (AP photos and previews) http://realartproject.x.fc2.com/index.html (RealArtProject official mainsite) http://realartproject.cart.fc2.com/ (RealArtProject official webshop) aya-p by ___rei, on Flickr (Doll Type: VMF50 Shiho, photo is taken by me, of my own doll) 1 - What makes VMF dolls so special? What are they like? They are vinyl (soft plastic) dolls that use the Obitsu 48- and 50- cm inner-frame (plastic skeleton) and are made from modified Obitsu parts. The designers at Yamato (now known as Arcadia, affiliated with R.A.P.) design modifications to the dolls' body and head sculpts, and then the Obitsu company manufactures the special modified parts on behalf of Arcadia and RAP. This means that many VMF dolls have unique faces or body types and shapes which are copyrighted to the respective companies and artists involved in their design. The earlier, prototype VMFs were a lot less modified and some of them used almost all default Obitsu parts, but the later-on productions have increasingly modified face and external body appearance, despite still technically being Obitsu-type dolls. The default Obitsu 50cm internal frame looks like this - (although it should be noted, hands and feet are easily removable and interchangeable despite the indication of the photo) - (ref photo was taken from http://www.junkyspot.com) Most recent VMF-type dolls (the Angel Philia and Pink Drops lines, as well as some of the Dollcore and the last VMF50 Original Concept Girls) now use the 48cm skeleton, but the difference is very marginal and should only affect part-swapping in a minor way, depending on if you want to customize your doll's body shape or not (more details on that later). VMF dolls caught my attention after I saw photos of VMF50s on a Japanese image board. I thought their faces were really fun and beautiful, and now that I own several, I can vouch for the fact that their bodies are very sturdy, versatile and posable as well as being more detailed than default Obitsu types: Most VMF dolls come with make-up and full body blushing by default, and their individual proportions of their bust, torso, legs, and in some cases the arms and feet, are sculpted differently to the default Obitsu 48-50 blank body, in a stylized manner. They also do not break as easily as resin dolls such as BJD, and the Obitsu inner frame is (in my opinion) superior to the DD/MDD internal skeleton in quality due to it's sturdiness and feeling of being more structurally sound and balanced. None of my VMF dolls have yet suffered the looseness or "floppiness" that can occur with some DD bodies, and definitely have not had any internal breakages like the MDD body is notorious for. Only time will tell if they hold up to this, but overall I consider the Obitsu body to be my preference. Because they use a plastic skeleton and not an elasticated system, they are also better at holding poses and standing unassisted (*with the exception of dolls using the "High Heel" feet option - these usually require stands unless you swap out the HH feet parts for flat feet or put them in shoes with wide, thick, flat soles), so for the purposes of display or photography they're also very convenient and enjoyable. 2 - What size and shape are VMFs? How can I customize them? What special features do they have? As the name implies, when they were first marketed as the "VMF50" line, the majority of the dolls were ~50cm in height. Later on in production (shortly before the brand name change) the company experimented with using 48cm Obitsu frames and mostly gives preference to using this frame now. One thing that differentiates VMFs from other equivalent Obitsu-type dolls is that their outer parts are manufactured to different sizes than standard Obitsu parts (despite maintaining being proportionate to the O48/50 frame - they have to be in order to fit it, of course) You can part-swap any part of a VMF that you can part-swap on the default Obitsu frame: This means their heads, bust, arms, hands, hips, legs, and feet are all interchangeable. However, because of the modifications made to the parts, you should look at the part-swapping image chart & guide if you intend to do this: > http://i.imgur.com/0b8ORkF.png < (The chart is updated periodically by me and also contains some useful notes to help with understanding the differences between the dolls) The other reason it is important to account for the different "sizing" of VMF outer parts is that different dolls will require differently-sized clothing depending on the proportions (width/cirbleepference) of their individually modified parts. There is a guide to clothing your doll according to her body shape and parts later in the FAQ. For the purposes of reference, all VMF parts (including their heads) are referred to by different letters and numbers (see the chart above for more info on that). VMFs are also available in special tan skintones as well as the default Obitsu "white" skintone, which is another thing that separates them from the standard Obitsu-type doll. All VMFs, with the exception of some early releases and the "Super Sonico" dolls, have an interchangeable eye system and wear wigs in a size 7~8 (this will vary slightly depending on the wig brand, elasticity of the band, and whether you use a wig cap or not. technically they have an average head cirbleepference of 7"). Also with the exceptions of some "special sets" and some of the older dolls, you can expect most VMFs to include the following when purchased as a fullset box: Doll, complete with body blushing, default company face-up, one pair of colored eyes (plastic, usually Obitsu/Parabox brand), and at least 1 pair of "option hands" in a different pose. Most VMF dolls use default Obitsu feet, which contain magnets. If the doll comes with Obitsu magnet feet, then a magnetic stand is also included in the box. Lately, they have sometimes used "High Heel" feet in place of Obitsu magnet feet, and the variety of option hands included with newer releases may be different to those included with older releases. Because the hands and feet are interchangeable, you can buy different ones if you do not like the ones that come by default, but note that if a doll comes with "High Heel" feet then she will *not* include the magnetic flat feet as an option part and will not come with a stand. These must be acquired separately. It is not standard for a fullset box to include any clothing or wigs, with certain exceptions, such as special character dolls or special release versions, etc. Going back to their height - kymaera has provided a great size comparison photo featuring his VMF50 Nao doll. Nao has the Type E body, 3rd from left - 3 - Where can I buy VMF50 dolls? How much do they cost? On average you can expect to pay $450~$650 for a doll if you are buying it directly from the company (prices vary per doll, and may also depend on S&H, additional proxy fees, tax, customs fees, etc). Most VMF dolls and accessories/clothing products are limited runs. Some sell out faster than others, and rarely there will be a reproduction run, but otherwise they may all be considered "limited edition". It is now frequent for them to also make "variant" editions of some dolls (for example: there may be a doll with the same or similar face sculpt as another, but different make-up, skintone, or body type, or some other modification to differentiate it). In general it is wise to consider that stock availability of everything officially manufactured is fairly limited. This means that prices of popular dolls and items may rise on the second-hand market over time, according to demand and rarity, and that the second-hand market is the prime way to acquire a sold-out doll, outfit, or accessory. Of the ~5 dolls I currently own, only one of them is not second hand, and I purchased her during a company reproduction run (which very rarely happens). If you spend a lot of time checking on Yahoo Japan Auctions (aka YJA / YAJ), you can sometimes find auctions for dolls with a starting bid of around 20,000 JPY (roughly $200). Depending on if the doll is in high demand or if a bidding war breaks out, the end price of these auctions might be around 30~40,000 JPY on average, but rarely ever goes higher than that. as a rule of thumb, i would consider any doll that you can find for under 30k yen to be a "good deal". Some dolls will simply not drop in price very much at all though, or may even raise in price. There are certain VMFs that you can't realistically expect to pay less than ~$800 for unless you get a very lucky deal or buy the split part of the doll you want (such as the head) and then buy a compatible body or body parts separately to construct her. Mandarake also stocks second-hand VMF dolls. These tend to be closer to (or in some cases, slightly above) retail price, but Mandarake items tend to usually be in very good condition even if they are marked as used or second hand. If you don't live in Japan, you'll probably need a proxy service to buy anything off YJA, but Mandarake will ship internationally without any kind of middleman needed. The official Arcadia/RAP web shops listed at the start of this FAQ also require use of a proxy service to place an order. If you don't have a proxy service or can't get one, VMFs sometimes appear on Ebay, but they tend to have a higher price mark-up and limited selection of dolls available. HLJ (HobbyLinkJapan) is another site you can order from without needing a proxy. They're currently clearing out their stock of old Yamato/VMF items and it is currently unknown if they will restock with Arcadia/RAP dolls and items, so stock may be limited at this time. I have seen (and once purchased) VMF dolls advertised internationally on the Den of Angels Marketplace, Flickr, Figure.FM,and some other general anime/figure websites may carry them from time to time if you keep an eye out. Finally: If you have a proxy service that allows you to purchase from Taobao (a Chinese marketplace website similar to Japan's Rakuten) then I have seen some VMF dolls appear on Taobao from time to time. I have never purchased a doll from a Taobao seller but "recast" or "fake" VMF dolls do not exist, so that should not be a concern, although you may have to deal with markup pricing. Note - I have received questions about how to use "proxy services" multiple times now. Although there is already plenty of information on the general DollfieDreams forum regarding proxy services (due to the fact that many people use these services to buy DDs), I wrote up a post in this thread with a short guide to what a proxy is and the pros/cons of using such a service. You find that post here - http://www.dollfiedreams.com/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=3723&start=150#p105781 4 - Where can I buy clothes, shoes, and accessories that fit my VMF50? How should I choose what to buy? Yamato/Arcadia and R.A.P. have produced full lines of accessories, wigs, clothes, shoes and other sets for their dolls (available on the official and above mentioned websites), but these can range from fairly to extremely expensive ($40~$100 per item, including minor items such as props) and are also usually tailored to a 'niche' style - VMF dolls are primarily marketed as being 'sexy' dolls, and most official clothing and accessories reflect this brand image. It is notable that R.A.P. tends to sell what are sometimes explicitly sexual and more risque items from time to time, while Arcadia/Angel Philia sells more toned down, suggestive yet not quite as 'fetishistic' outfits. If the clothing styles of the official brands or the pricing puts you off, have no fear. This part of the FAQ will guide you to alternative options if you are looking for a lower price and/or different style for your doll. Regarding official items: I own a few of them from 2012 (Yamato produced), and the quality is what I would describe as "average" (I cannot comment on any quality changes in 2013). Their high pricing can be justified due to their limited availability, and also the fact that they are often fairly unique designs "exclusively made" to fit the dolls, but the actual quality (fabric, sewing, craftsmanship) of the items is not exceptionally better or notably worse than many other brands of doll clothing & items from other companies or stores. If you see an outfit or accessory that you feel you can't find anywhere else in the correct scale for your VMF doll, I recommend buying it as long as you don't mind the price - the money goes towards supporting the companies, and they do have to make a profit or else there is no incentive to keep producing the merchandise and dolls. However, if you see something that isn't very unique, I recommend looking for a cheaper alternative elsewhere, as it may be possible to find something similar with a near-correct fit for half the price at a similar level of quality. Since I already linked to where you can buy official clothing at the start of the post (note: aside from their webshops, some international sites I mentioned such as HLJ and Mandarake carry a selection of official goods, and these also appear on YJA sometimes) the other links in this FAQ will point you in the direction of alternative clothing and accessory options. *Important Note*.When purchasing clothing for your girl, always consider her body type and whether the fabric the clothing is made of is stretchy or not, and whether any waistbands, sleeves, etc are elasticated! Depending on the item itself compared to the body type of your doll, clothing that may fit one type of VMF could be impossible to get on another. Also consider the height of your doll in relation to the design of the item of clothing - I have fitted items on my dolls designed for 40cm - 60cm DD/BJD/etc, but it entirely depends on what type of item the clothing is and how it is made and cut that determines a fit or not. If you have any light sewing skills, it's also easy to modify a lot of clothing to fit. Below is a guide to which dolls have which body types and their respective measurements. It currently only covers VMF50s - it will be updated soon to cover Dollcore, Pink Drops, and Angel Philia dolls, and hopefully include much more detailed information. < This is on my 'To-Do' List. In the meantime, I took all the info below from http://leonellalovesdolls.blogspot.com/. It matches up to the dolls that I personally own, so it can be considered fairly accurate. The list is sorted by body type, and below each type the names of the corresponding dolls can be found. --- Type A ~50cm Bust: 24cm, Waist: 13.8cm, Hip: 21.2cm, Thigh: 15.1cm Super Sonico Mascot Super Sonico Tiger Type B ~50cm Bust: 23cm, Waist: 13cm, Hip: 21.9cm, Thigh: 14.6cm Kan'u (Ikkitousen) Nurse Kan'u (Ikkitousen) School Uniform Miu (Original Concept Girl #1) Miu (Original Concept Girl #1 - Tan Skin) Miki (Original Concept Girl #3) Type C ~48cm Bust: 19.5cm, Waist: 13.8cm, Hip: 21.5cm, Thigh: 13.6cm Sayo (Original Concept Girl #10) Type C1 ~48cm Bust: 16.8cm, Waist: 13.8cm, Hip: 21.5cm, Thigh: 13.6cm Mako (Original Concept Girl #11) Kana (Original Concept Girl #12) Type C11 ~48cm Bust: 24.7cm, Waist: 13.8cm, Hip: 21.5cm, Thigh: 13.6cm (approx.) Miko (Original Concept Girl #13) Type D ~50cm Bust: 20.8cm, Waist: 12.3cm, Hip: 20.5cm, Thigh: 13.5cm Risa (Original Concept Girl #2) Type E ~50cm Bust: 21cm, Waist: 12.2cm, Hip: 21cm, Thigh: 14cm Yumi (Original Concept Girl #4) Nao (Original Concept Girl #6) Eri (Original Concept Girl #8) Type F ~50cm Bust: 19.5cm, Waist: 12.1cm, Hip: 21.7cm, Thigh: 14.2cm Ami (Original Concept Girl #5) Miho (Original Concept Girl #7) Type G ~50cm Bust: 24.7cm, Waist: 13.0cm, Hip: 22.5cm, Thigh: 14.5cm Shiho (Original Concept Girl #9) ----- Note that the first VMF girl ever made, a character doll of Lynn Minmay, apparently uses an unmodified Obitsu50 body and doesn't appear to have an altered body type like the other dolls. Also note that dolls which aren't part of the "Original Concept" line are usually character dolls based on existing franchises. The good news is that VMFs all take the same shoe size (note - the new dolls with special High Heel feet may be an exception to this, currently unconfirmed, but otherwise the majority of them have a default Obitsu foot measurement) and all dolls should take roughly the same wig size (as stated above, a 7~8 wig is recommended, but fit may vary depending on the brand and wig type) Plenty of off-brand shoes and wigs fit. I mostly use wigs from the Monique Gold brand, but i also have several Dollmore & Crobidoll wigs that work. Any shoes designed to fit Unoa, Minifee, and Dale Rae all are usually a confirmed fit as well. Below is a copy/pasted (now edited) post of mine from later in this thread that provides all the information on unofficial VMF size clothing I can provide right now: Janeway asked me what type of clothing would fit her Type F body doll. I have a Type C doll (Sayo) who has very similar measurements to Type F (i mistook her for Type F until i actually checked the measurement charts since the difference is extremely minimal) Type F, C, and C1 are the slimmest body types as of updating this, as a result they are more likely to fit into clothing for <50cm height dolls. For dolls with larger chests and the more curvaceous body types with wider hips and thighs, please keep in mind that they are more likely to take 50cm< clothing unless the <50cm clothing you choose is very stretchy or baggy. If you are dressing a doll in a shirt, bra, or most kinds of skirts and dresses, you can remove her arms from their sockets (this takes <10 seconds to do and they slot back in firmly yet easily) and slip it over her head. However, if you want to put any items such as panties, regular pants or shorts, or certain skirts & dresses on the doll by putting them on over her legs, they must be able to fit around the widest part of the doll's lower half - which surprisingly, is not her hips or her butt, but actually her upper thigh area (example pic coming soon). VMF dolls can be recognized by the unusual sculpting of their thighs. The upper thigh curves out widely from the hip joint to create the aesthetic appearance of a curvaceous "thigh gap", and cannot be slotted in and out with the same ease as the arms. I have a few skirts that would fit my dolls around the waist perfectly, but because they are not elasticated, they cannot stretch over the upper thigh area without risk of being ripped or torn. This is why elasticated, stretchy material is preferential when picking your outfits. List of US/English websites that stock clothing/accessories/wigs that fit VMF dolls (note that not all sites guarantee fit especially because some will only fit certain VMF bodies - therefore mileage may vary. Read the comments and do your own research or ask a question in this thread if unsure about a product you want to buy): http://www.hlj.com/- Aside from clearing out their old VMF50 official goods stock, this site carries other brands of clothing for ~50cm height dolls. Use the keyword search "50cm" or "Obitsu" in the correct category and then check the box to show only available items, as they almost never delete things that are permanently out of stock. You may want to keep it unchecked if you want to look at their items on backorder though, and if you explore the site you may find they sell clothing for slightly shorter or taller dolls as well that may be a potential fit. I've bought from HLJ a lot over the years and they have always provided me with a good reliable service. http://www.parabox.jp/eng_new/ - I purchased from Parabox once recently and was really happy with the quality of everything I bought (which included wigs and clothing). They're an official dealer for Obitsu products and you will find plenty of things that fit VMF dolls here. http://www.amiami.com/ - I get my anime figure pre-orders every month from AmiAmi and they are very reliable as a business. Use they keyword search "50cm doll" to find their clothing, although like HLJ, you can look at clothing in slightly different height ranges if you can find it. http://www.ekizo.mandarake.co.jp/shop/en/ - i'm probably one of Mandarake's most loyal customers and like HLJ they stock obitsu and vmf50 items; use the keyword オビツ to find Obitsu clothing, and type vmf50 in English to find dolls and accessories relating to VMF dolls. http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/doll/ - i never actually purchased from Hobby Search but they have a really wide selection of clothing that should fit. look at the sidebar and you will see at least 3 categories for ~50cm clothing. like HLJ and AmiAmi they do not delete out of stock items from the website and many items are so popular you have to reserve them or pre-order them. http://www.dollmore.net/ - in general all Dollmore clothes are made for "slimmer but not *slim*" SD/MSD type dolls unless it's their Model doll line. i have ordered from them many times and most of their standard MSD clothing fits, but some of it does not (mostly i've had good luck, but sometimes the fabric of the material changes the fit). luckily, they list the measurements in CM for almost every item of clothing, so just check these measurements against your girl. if the clothing is stretchy, it is a very likely fit (i purchased MSD capri leggings for my MiniFee dolls from them and the same leggings fit my Type C Sayo - they will be too small for a doll with wider measurements though) on page 1 of this thread kymaera posted showing his VMF50 Nao doll (Type E) wearing 3 Dollmore MSD outfits and they fit very well on her, but please note that they were made of stretchy material. http://www.dollheart.com/- I ordered 2 pairs of DH shoes, and found that one pair was an "almost perfect" (slightly but barely noticeably oversize) fit, and that the other pair technically fit (due to being a pair of long boots) but was actually scaled to a doll with larger feet. so be warned that while in general you will probably get a fitting pair of shoes, sizing may vary with design. DollHeart wigs (i own 2 as well) are good quality and can fit VMFs, but the sizing will always be a tiny bit off. If you buy the 6.5-7.5" wigs, you will REALLY need to stretch out the elasticated band to get it on the doll's head, and you cannot use a wigcap, but it does work. If you buy the 7.5-8.5" wig, they will be a tiny bit too big, but if you trim the bangs and use a wigcap will be a perfect fit. They also fit and look fine without a wigcap too, but be warned that they will slip off easily due to being ever so slightly too big. I personally prefer the larger size, but purchase at your own risk. I have been told that DollHeart MSD clothing can fit some VMF dolls but can not confirm this right now. http://www.etsy.com has a lot of stuff too; just do some searching (use keywords like MSD or even 'slim MSD' depending on what you are looking for). if the measurements of clothing are not shown, it is a good idea to contact the store owner and ask for the measurements, and in many cases Etsy sellers will do custom adaptions or commissions scaled to the measurements of your doll if you request them politely. Etsy prices and policies obviously vary from individual store-to-store. you are also free to look on Ebay - sometimes searching for "VMF50" will yield slightly marked up but specially fitted clothing as well as the occasional doll. some of the specific Etsy/Ebay stores you can see my dolls wearing fashion from in this thread are - http://www.etsy.com/shop/TNTdollclothing - i own shirts & tops from this store in their MSD size and they fit both my Type C (very slim) and Type G (curviest VMF50). their MSD pants will fit bodies with the smaller and slimmer hip/thigh measurements ONLY. http://www.etsy.com/shop/beachgirlnikita- one of my favorite US doll clothing makers, i buy clothes from her for all my dolls a lot (and her fur wigs too). however, not all of her clothing will fit VMF type dolls. again i recommend asking about the size measurements of an item if it interests you. her fur wigs tend to be of very good quality, but are not always a 100% perfect fit on a VMF (they are hand sewn and i have noticed sizing can vary somewhat, plus fur wigs are usually not elasticated) BNK also has an Ebay store under the same name if you prefer to use Ebay, and is a very friendly person to buy from. http://www.etsy.com/shop/violetheavensky - I adore her (MSD size) shirts and stockings, as well as her knit/crochet hats for MSD which fit over most of my wigs snugly but perfectly. Everything I have bought from her fits both my C (slim) and G (curvy) type dolls. You can see my dolls wearing hats, shirts and stockings from her later in this thread. http://stores.ebay.com/releaserain- Go to their "MSD Unoa" section for shoes that fit. I do not know if their MSD clothing fits or not, but I love their shoes. I have only had 1 pair out of about 8 pairs i bought not fit (they were slightly too big). All others were perfect fit. update: releaserain now has an etsy store as well, just do a search for their name to find the link. obviously, if you have a proxy, there is a treasure trove of stuff on Yahoo!Japan which includes a mix of official and unofficial clothing items and accessories. Keywords you can use when searching Japanese shop and auction sites to find dolls and (possibly) compatible clothing include (separated by comma): VMF, VMF50, UNOA, ユノア, 50cm, 48cm, VISUADOLL, Obitsu, オビツ, RealArtProject, Pink Drops, Dollcore, Angel Philia, AP The Japanese word for "doll" can be spelled as 人形 or ドル. Search results may change depending on which spelling you use, and sometimes they even use the English "doll". So "50cm doll" "50cm ドル" "50cm 人形" etc could all give different hits. Keywords such as DD, DDdy, MSD will sometimes yield good results but be very careful when buying, as many of these items will not fit your VMF unless you check the measurements with the seller or read them on the auction page, and descriptions of the item are often vague. note: Japanese like to list a lot of items under the English (romanized) name, but sometimes sites like Mandarake or sellers on YJA either mis-spell the name or only use the Japanese name (if there is one- for example, VMF50 is never spelled using Kana). As above, sometimes searching in English will yield different results to searching the same word or name in Japanese. List of other "non-official" Japanese websites that sell clothing and other items suitable for VMFs (note that when prices are mentioned, these do not factor in shipping, proxy fees, customs tax, etc): http://www.addamstown.net/webshop/ - they manufacture unique and limited runs of clothing specifically fitted to different VMF body types, aside from also regular MDD/DD/DDdy clothing (some of which may also fit certain VMFs). Prices can range from 3,000-9,000 JPY per outfit usually. http://tcdoll.shop-pro.jp/ - many 50cm doll outfits, most of which are tailored to VMF50 bodies. (also sell clothes for DD etc). Average prices are 4,000-6,000 JPY per outfit. http://doll.shop-pro.jp/ - looking for unique wigs? This site sells wigs for many types of dolls, but specifically has a category made to fit 50cm dolls and frequently uses VMFs as models. The category name is "7inch(オビツ50)ウィッグ". Other categories marked as 7 or 8 Inch are probably not a guaranteed exact fit. Prices for VMF wigs are usually around 3,100 JPY. http://www.rakuten.ne.jp/gold/tougenkyou/tokubai/doll.html - the webshop of "Visuadoll", which is actually another Japanese brand of modified Obitsu 50 dolls (though difference in appearance and aesthetic to VMFs). They also manufacture their own special clothing. Since their clothing is meant to fit O-50 bodies, many of it is compatible with VMFs. http://www.cuties.co.jp/ - make a variety of doll clothing, but specifically have a section that caters to 50cm "slim" VMF/Obitsu type dolls. Limited selection, mostly underwear sets, bikinis, and basic underwear or lingerie such as pantyhose. http://beface.shop-pro.jp/- limited selection of what appear to be OOAK, hand-sewn, full outfits for 50cm/VMFs as well as other dolls. prices are around 15,000 JPY for an outfit. a few more tips for fitting to different body types - VMF dolls that are very busty with wide hips are capable of wearing most DD and SD size clothing without issue. my Type G Shiho wears lingerie for the Dollfie Dream Dynamite bust (note: while DDdy bras fit her near-perfectly, DDdy panties are oversized), and she also wears leggings, dresses, and bikinis from Coolcat-Coolcat - http://us.sk-coolcat.com/front/bin/home.phtml - all of which were made with Dollfie Dreams in mind. Sidenote: If you have a proxy service, there's sometimes a larger and cheaper selection of Coolcat items on YJA. Remember that due to their height, VMF50 have shorter legs and arms than SD and DD dolls. if you are buying long stockings, pants or want a shirt or dress that has long sleeves, it is better to buy clothing specifically for dolls below 60cm to avoid buying something that is over-sized. VMF dolls that are slim such as the F & C Types can often get away with wearing more MSD or MDD sized clothing. If buying an item with long sleeves, you may want to check the sleeve length, as VMF arms are ever so slightly longer than many MSD/MDD arms. The same applies to pant length if buying long pants. Final word of warning though.... If dressing them in thin fabrics, pad their nipples!. It varies from doll to doll, (bust type and shape often are drastically different) but some VMFs have VERY pointy nipples (I'm not kidding). There are a few exceptions to this, but it mostly holds up. I had a thin fabric shirt ruined after my Shiho doll poked a hole in it with her nips. To prevent this: I use a piece of bandage with a safety pin sometimes, but any thick fabric or fitting bra made from padded material should also help prevent damage to delicate clothing. As long as you don't leave them on for too long (to avoid sticky "bandaid residue" being left on your doll, although if this happens just wipe them down with a wet cloth), 2 square cut-outs from a bandaid can serve as a makeshift pair of pasties. If for aesthetic reasons you want the nips to show through a thin piece of clothing (as seen in some official promo shots), be aware that the clothing may be semi or permanently damaged by this over time, especially if it is extensively worn or if it is very tight. 5 - As mentioned, there's currently some missing information and a few minor info points that need to be changed in this post. I'm editing it to be more up-to-date when possible. Have any more questions? Please ask away and either I or someone else who checks this thread will do our best to answer. If you want view the latest news and discussion, I recommend going to the final pages of the thread. If you're unsure about a Japanese-website purchase, you can also ask for help with that as long as you make sure your question was not already answered in this FAQ or the post about proxy services.

Instead of flooding the Photo Randoms thread, I guess it makes sense to create a new thread to put my photos. So to start off , here are a few nice shots I took a while back:

Hope no one minds, but I decided to put some of my photos here because I'm angry that Instagram is always destroying the quality! I'll just put some of my favourites for now~ I've only got one girl (so far...), so I hope you don't mind looking at my Miku-chan! Also I automatically watermark my images for my Insta so pls just ignore that 🙏 [ I N F O ] Camera: Nikon D3300 + Nikkor 50mm 1.8 lens Editing: Adobe Lightroom 5 + Photoshop CS6 Miku-chan is an original (DDIII) Hatsune Miku Dollfie Dream I switched her to Deka (Large) DD Hands Both aftermarket eyes are by @jadepixel! ♥
  5. After a whole year of waiting, I finally got the box containing my Dollzone Zero fullset in grey resin! She's the first fullset I've ever owned, and aside from some rushed paint jobs on her accessories, she's absolutely beautiful and well worth the cost and the wait. I ordered her through Alice's Collections, so I also got a free outfit for her due to an event they were having at the time. I'm glad I did, because her fullset outfit qualifies as a waterproof apron and that's about it. Totally see-through. 😂 Alice's Collections also contacted Dollzone to see if I could swap her default body out for a different one, and they allowed it! I'll be painting this clockwork heart she has myself, and I'm glad I swapped because it works perfectly on her. 💖 She uses a faceplate system, but her faceplate extends out behind her head a little bit, so you can't lay her down flat without her face trying to pop off. Annoying, but I can deal with it. The wing thingies on the back of her head are magnetic, as are the antennae and mask on the front of her head. The magnets ROCK, they're extremely strong and keep all pieces on securely - even the wings! Speaking of, those snap into the black frame underneath to form hinges, they're not magnetized at all. Which is great, because they're much more secure and easily posed that way. She's strung beautifully and stands with a bit of balancing, even with all her accessories on...and doesn't stand at all in the crazy heels she comes with, even with a saddle stand, so I swapped her into her flat feet pretty much immediately. 😂 For some reason, she also came with an extra, unpainted copy of every one of her mechanical accessories with magnets to attach them - including the head wings, which is why you can see them on her butt in the fullbody pic. I thought she looked cooler with those attached. I guess those were included as a "sorry this took a year" present? They were all still kinda greasy from the mold release, so I think they were added in a hurry. Between this and the rush paint job, I'm a little worried. I hope Dollzone's workers are okay and can rest soon! 😣 Regardless, she's here with me now, and I'm glad to have her! I think I'll be carting her around for a while, and maybe seeing if she looks weird on a vinyl or 18" MH body - resin, even well-strung, is awful at holding a pose. 😂 Here's some more pictures of her, including one I took just now on my lunch break!

My 10th Angel Philia is home NSFW

I just got my 10th Angel Philia today. She is Angel Philia Rico. She has tan skin. I’m so in love with her she so so CUTE!!!! She has the super tiny bust, but I switch it for the small bust. But I’m planing for her to have the super huge bust. I named her Bonita because that TikTok has been stuck in my head. Here is Bonita my 10th AP girl

    My own half-real head

I was tired of hunting for nom-anime head. So I put worbla on one old head I sculpted few years ago. The clay sculpt was done as study of Rapunzel head which didnt end up as exact copy. Her life was short. She was dust and to dust returned. I should do this long time ago but maybe I was not personally evolved enough or I just had prejudices towards technology. I need to paint head and then do face Up.

Finally I've decided to open a dedicated topic for my photos ^^. Sorry in advance, the first posts will be reposts from the main topic, to have them all in one place. Let's start from the beginning! I'll start with some photos I took for review purpose (here: https://thebeautyandthemecha.blogspot.com/2020/02/pink-drops-39-marie-by-quarantotto.html in italian, sorry), so Marie (Pink Drops #39) is just out of the box, nude and bald. Introducing Louisa!

I'm tagging as NSFW because of doll nudity! Hi everyone! I'm very happy to announce that I finally received my first doll 🥳 Sure, they're naked and bald but I still love them already so so much 🥰 Let me introduce you to Louisa, my beloved OC now doll incarnate: Bonus in spoilers: headshot art of them They're a SQ-lab Tsubaki head on a DDdy-F3 body, faceup was made by Sadol! Eyes are a DIY, I'll replace them. I settled for Semi-white as a color closer to their skin wasn't avaiable. So far i've ordered their wig (who will be a big challenge to style like how I draw their hair lmao) and a Towa default dress whom I snagged secondhand. I plan to buy them an outfit and a Peach Pai Plus bust. That's about it! thanks for looking 💕
  10. Hi DD members, Not long ago my DDS Saber arrived and a funny thing in comparison to Smart Doll is that they are always nude. Also my Smart Doll girl Shisha is not happy with the attitude of the newcomer. Disclaimer: NSFW because of doll nudity. -If your eyes are going blind, not my fault. -Are your dolls jealous of you looking at other dolls, not my fault. -If your dolls trying to kill you for seeing this post, not my fault. and the rest is also not my fault. Enjoy.

    Cinnamon - Angel Philia Honoka

Hi everyone (●'◡'●) Just wanted to share a lil photo dump of my AP girl, Cinnamon. She is a tan ver2 soft skin Honoka. She's my first ever AP, I'm still very new to vinyl dolls in general but, holy cow, I'm obsessed with everything about her. I cannot wait to add more AP girls to my crew! Spoiler-ed for softcore nsfw:
  12. This was revealed on the quarantotto's website a couple days back and I was suprised noone has posted about it here soo.... Here I go! This new body has ENTIRELY different/new soft vinyl parts(exept hands/feet), Including the forearms and calves. This means that everything save for the hands and feet will be made from the company's signature "soft skin" material! (ФωФ) As an interesting sidenote, initial sales of the body WILL NOT feature any body blushing. Sales will begin August 10th 6:00pm (JST I persume) The price will be: ¥54,780 (loosely $400 US) Link to the Angel Philia website: https://quarantotto.biz/angelphilia/type-i%e3%83%9c%e3%83%87%e3%82%a3-soft-skin-%ef%bc%9c%e7%84%a1%e5%bd%a9%e8%89%b2-%e3%83%98%e3%83%83%e3%83%89%e7%84%a1%e3%81%97%ef%bc%9e-9337.html Images of the Type-I body from their site:

    Super Sonico (Smart Doll Journey)

Here is my Smart Doll Journey in Milk. She is my only Smart Doll, I had trouble bonding with her because a Smart Doll's identity/character already feels so distinct when you purchase them. I usually prefer to create original characters for my dolls but I also enjoy some licensed character dolls. Since I was struggling to find an identity for Journey, I decided to restyle her to look like Super Sonico since I pine for the official Sonico dolls. I enjoy her so much more now!

    My Sculpting Journey

Many years ago, I made an old sculpting thread following the progress of my anime boy, Spica. I wanted to add an anime boy head option, since even resin heads, there aren't too many options. I even went as far as to hold a preorder, but the results weren't that great.😅 But after sulking for a while, I didn't want to give up doll making entirely. I also wanted to create a new post mainly to bring a newer method of how I make dolls as well as the fact I ended up with Astrea Doll as my "company" name, lol versus the concept I made when I was 18. Here's the original post: And here's the guy all finished, but sadly he wasn't compatible at all with vinyl bodies easily. I did want to expand my group of sculpts however and try my hand at making more anime heads, especially heads compatible with DD and SmD bodies, with what's available with the current bodies. Polaris herself was sort of a random urge of sculpting since I still had my old test mold of Spica and I wanted to try my hand at hand sculpting her, so here are some progress photos: https://www.flickr.com/photos/natsukiphoto/ While refining my sculpt Polaris, I thought how nice would it be have her in vinyl. But knowing the approximate cost, and being unsure if I would be able to sell any, I had to give up. It was until I remembered that Volks used to make their DDII bust out of resin. For a while I thought it was Volk's special formula as I could really only pull up rigid type of resins...until I was browsing the Smooth-On website and found semi-rigid resins. I also was getting quite envious of digital sculptors lol and wanted to try my hand at it. After some searching I found an online based program called SculptGL (same family as Nomad sculpt, but more like the first sculpting program by Stephane Ginier.) So while toying around with the software I finally complete Polaris with the features I wanted her to have since I wasn't satisfied with my hand sculpting and with every refinement I made, there was always something else after a while I would notice that looked uneven to me. I then used Zbrush at my school to lower her resolution to make her more ideal for printing an am currently cutting the head open in a CAD software to finish her inner construction. But I'm having a bit of a dilemma, knowing how simple anime doll sculpts can be, does Polaris resemble any dolls on the market? Her sketches were just drawings to play with some faceup ideas, but I would like to personally avoid looking like other dolls on the market and avoid a lawsuit and then have to live in a box lmao. I'm also open to any criticism and feedback, I'm happy to hear anyone's thoughts really since I want to improve as an artist. I'm also going to document my experience with semi rigid resin to help other makers who want to create custom parts and heads for their own businesses, or customizations.
  15. Hello everyone! It's been a while since I did a comparison photo thread but I keep hearing people asking about how smaller busts look and work on the default DDdy bodies so I decided to share pics of how this setup looks. One of my newer girls, an ogre girl named Shion, will be helping us out with this. DSC_1148 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Shion has since been thru a few changes from when these photos were taken but they still serve as a good guide for how this body setup works. DSC_1149 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Shion uses the old DDdy body and not the newer versions. But the same effect will occur if you do this mod to your girl. The vinyl bits still need to be trimmed to look and function properly. DSC_1150 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr As you can see here, this medium bust has been modded to be short like the default DDdy bust. This allows for greater range of motion and also a better fit on the lower torso. DSC_1151 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr And from the back. DSC_1152 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Now we get to the comparison pics. On the left is a normal DD2 M-bust body. As you can see, the area under the breasts is much longer than on Shion. DSC_1153 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr DSC_1154 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr You can also see the big difference in body shape and size here. The much thicker thighs on the DDdy can be seen as can that big ol' booty. 😉 DSC_1155 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr DSC_1156 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr DSC_1157 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Now we bring in the DDdy body in its default setup. DSC_1159 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr It's easy to tell the trimming done on that M-bust here. It's well matched to the way the default bust is done. DSC_1160 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr DSC_1162 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Lastly, we have them clothed. I used the same brand and size of shirt on these two so you can see the difference in fit and size for the medium and default busts. DSC_1163 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr DSC_1164 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr DSC_1165 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Hopefully this helps people see how this modification looks and works and also helps with the decision on whether or not it's right for your girl. I decided to give Shion the regular DDdy bust after this and I also changed out her eyes to better match her style and coloring. Shion by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Shion2 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr The M-bust DDdy went to another girl that I'll share later. 😉 Billy

    Tiggers Household Random Pics

Hello everyone 😸 Thought I would start a pictures thread from my house and my little lot of resource gorging inhabitants. Or my little buddies as I have always seen-called them. ^-^ Never called them a family as such, more like companions as we journey these years we have together and adventures. I might post some stories in the stories threads from time to time, but they will be more like the day to day of their lives and lighter in feel. More able to stand on their own as a light one off tale, other than the now huge decade+ long universe they travel the timeline of. Those tales will probably stay on my little corner of the internet. Always very welcome to ask me questions of it though. ^^ I will post pics of their characters for fun and their general info here as time goes on. Here we have a Tara, Dee "clone" and a big Schrodinger. In a very much out of the forth wall clip. 😜 (They are usually in character and under the ice in Antarctica at a giant ancient alien city.) I suppose this is an update too to questions most gratefully answered in the body comparison thread. Hopefully going to "upgrade" this Dee from MDD to DDP with upgraded chest to keep her in age character. The chest arrived and the body is on the way! ^-^ yay! Will post pics of that when ready. Added the nsfw tag to this thread for the best, and to cover future pictures. So, I guess, out of the forth wall we go? 🙃 Dee: "What ho. Possible new body happenings, look." Tara: "What on earth is that bag of meat for...?" Schrodinger: "Dee might be getting a size update, perhaps." Tara: "Ugh... Perverts... Not interested!" Dee: "One is not a pervert! Well... One does suppose it depends on the___" Schrodinger: *cuts Dee off* "Good grief... Her height! Not her chest size!" Tara: "I'm always right somewhere down the line and you both know it." *walks off* Dee & Schrodinger : 😐 🤨
  17. I've seen some pretty cool mods on twitter so I thought it would be fun to have a thread for sharing cool mods we have seen or done! Hybrids are also welcome! I wasn't sure which section to put this under since its not really specific to a particular brand. Also topic is NSFW for doll nudity. Anyways I saw this really cool DDS and DDdy hybrid with shortened legs I also saw this really cool DDS mod where the torso and limbs were shortened to be the same height as a MDD. I lost the post though but it had a comparison picture of it versus the normal MDD. The proportions looked great and there wasn't any apparent gapping.

    MDD Mochi-Ashi Underwear Sizing?

Heya!! So, I see such cute mixes of undies that are feminine I'd love to put on my MDD MA I have on her way home right now! But, I truly have been unable to discern if MDDMA would fit SD sized or MDD sized undies for their cute caboose. I've seen some super cute custom ones on YA!JP but, I don't wanna take the bite and them not fit :,) If anyone could show me them wearing either both, or help me of which exact size does indeed fit, I'd appreciate it so much!!
  19. The title says everything. I'm planning on getting both DDdy lower torso and chest of one of this two brands as I heard both have a very good quality. First I was thinking peach pai was my best option because its lower price, but then I noticed there are some shape differences between both that made me doubt. I tried looking for some comparison photos but no success. All i found were photos of one, or the other that barely helped. So, do you, beautiful, wise and all mighty dollfie community, have any comparison images so I can make my decision?
  20. Hello! I know I've been saying I was going to do this for a while but I had to wait on the DDI body to get returned to me from my sister. Then I got lazy.... but I have finally gotten off my butt to do this comparison post! Basically, I read lots of comments from people with questions about the different body types and how they differ from and are similar to each other. And so far I hadn't seen too many places with pics showing these differences. So I decided to do something about that and put together a basic photo post of the different types of bodies available for the Dollfie Dream line. I had to leave out the newest version, the DD3, due to me not owning one yet. But when my Saber Extra arrives, I'll do a side by side with her too. Anywho, let's begin by meeting our models. I explained to my girls that I wanted to do this not only to help others out but to aide people in the future with adoption decisions. So none of them had issues with posing nude for me since this is basically a scientific study. Yeah yeah.... So here we have from left to right: Headless DDI body, DDII M-Bust Rei Ayanami, DDII L-bust Yukino, DDS Mamimi and DDdy regular bust Mai. DSC_5051 by balldylox, on Flickr Obviously we need to see the body differences so I had the girls disrobe. DSC_5053 by balldylox, on Flickr First up I'll go over the big differences in the DDI and DDII bodies. This DDI was actually Rei's first body. She was released from Volks with this setup. Overall, the dimensions are very close to each other in height and shape. DSC_5054 by balldylox, on Flickr Now for some closeups. Here you can see the differences in their lower torsos. The DDI had large slits to accomodate the strings inside. Yes I said strings, like a resin doll. You'll see those later. Other than the slits, the torsos look very similar in shape and size. DSC_5055 by balldylox, on Flickr Here are the knees. Big differences here as you can see. The DDI has the kneecaps facing up where the DDII has them facing down. Leg shape and size are overall the same. DSC_5057 by balldylox, on Flickr Here, you can see the top of the torsos. The actual busts ARE interchangeable if you are good at re-stringing dolls. Otherwise, don't even try to swap busts on a DDI. The DDII has a slightly longer lower torso than the DDI does as you can see by the difference in shoulder height here. DSC_5058 by balldylox, on Flickr From the side you can see differences in shape now. The DDI has a slightly more arched lower back, giving it a little more rounded butt at the top. DSC_5059 by balldylox, on Flickr A closer view shows the busts to be almost identical except for the tip of the breast on the DDII being a bit more pointy. Also, the DDI bust is a thinner vinyl than the DDII and is a bit more squishy and pliable. DSC_5060 by balldylox, on Flickr A close up of the knees. DSC_5061 by balldylox, on Flickr The feet aren't really different except for the way they attach to the doll. The DDI feet are attached via the strings and the DDII feet plug into the inner skeleton frame. DSC_5062 by balldylox, on Flickr BOOTY! Oh.. um, sorry about that. Here is a shot from the back of both bodies. DSC_5063 by balldylox, on Flickr A closeup of the backs of the knees. DSC_5064 by balldylox, on Flickr Now here is where we start seeing the internal stringing come into play. On the left we have the DDI with it's big "S" hook that holds the head on and loops thru the main string inside the body. The black twist tie is there so if I need to put a head on this body, I can pull out the "S" hook without fear of losing the string inside the body since the string is elastic cord that has some tension on it. On the right you can see the familiar head attachemnt system of the DDII. The small cut on the back of the neck is a modification done by me for better head movement. DSC_5066 by balldylox, on Flickr And now some string! Pulling down on the leg at the knee, you can easily see the string inside. It's elastic so it stretches a bit. DSC_5067 by balldylox, on Flickr Here is the upper leg being pulled down to show the string going into the hip area. DSC_5068 by balldylox, on Flickr So ends the DDI comparison! Now we move on to the differences in busts for the DDII body. To demonstrate we have Rei with her M-bust and Yukino with her normal L-bust. DSC_5069 by balldylox, on Flickr Both bodies here are the DDII and so are exactly the same. This is a close up to show the size differences in the busts. DSC_5070 by balldylox, on Flickr And from the side: DSC_5071 by balldylox, on Flickr Miyuki - "Hey girls! Why are yall naked?" Yukino - "We're showing off our boobs for Papa." me - NO NO NO!!! You are NOT doing that Yukino! Rei - "Yes we are Miyuki." me - Sigh..... DSC_5072 by balldylox, on Flickr me - Miyuki, since you're here, can you please help us? I need to show a comparison of your Shapely L-bust to Yuknios normal L-bust. Miyuki - "Oh sure! I love my new boobs so I'm happy to show'em off!" DSC_5073 by balldylox, on Flickr As you can see, Miyuki now has the new Shapely L-bust. It's basically the same size as Yukino but squished together for more cleavege to show. DSC_5074 by balldylox, on Flickr Here is a side shot: DSC_5075 by balldylox, on Flickr M- "Yay for docking! Hee hee!" Yes, yes Miyuki, docking is great. This is so you can see the spacing between the breasts on these two. DSC_5076 by balldylox, on Flickr Next up we have the DDS body shown by Mamimi. As you can see there are some big changes from the DDII body. DSC_5077 by balldylox, on Flickr First, lets look at the torsos. The DDS is very slim compared to the DDII. Also, the legs are not as long in the thigh area. The arms are a bit shorter too. DSC_5078 by balldylox, on Flickr From the side, the height difference between these two is apparent. The DDII is about an inch taller overall. Also, you can see the slimmer line of the DDS. DSC_5079 by balldylox, on Flickr The elbows are vastly different on these two. The DDII has only one joint whereas the DDS has two. More on this in a minute. DSC_5080 by balldylox, on Flickr From the back, it's easy to see the differences in bodies. Height, shape and body lines are all different. The DDS is made to look like a "little sister" so it's much slimmer in proportion. DSC_5081 by balldylox, on Flickr The backs of the knees. The DDS can move the legs back way further in a sitting position while kneeling ( called seiza in Japanese ). DSC_5082 by balldylox, on Flickr Here is a height comparison using a tape measure. As you can see the DDII is about one inch taller than the DDS if you compare shoulder to shoulder since heads are different shapes and sizes. And the stands the girls are on are the same size and thickness so they aren't throwing off the tape measure. DSC_5083 by balldylox, on Flickr Back to the elbows, here you can see how far the DDII can move its arms compared to the DDS. Those double joints come in handy here. DSC_5084 by balldylox, on Flickr But using the "hidden" joint of the DDII, seen here, you can get similar results as the DDS. To access this joint in the DDII, you have to really pull and wiggle the elbow joints a lot. I had to heat up the joint with a heatgun to make mine pop out. DSC_5085 by balldylox, on Flickr Here is the extended "hidden" joint being used. It doesn't look nearly as good as the DDS one but with certain camera angles, you can hide it well enuff. DSC_5086 by balldylox, on Flickr R - "Are we done yet?" No Rei, we still need to do DDdy comparisons. R - "Please get on with it, I do not want to miss "Pawn Stars". Yes Rei..... As you may have guessed, we are moving on to the DDdy bodies. Here we have Mai modeling the normal DDdy body and bust. DSC_5087 by balldylox, on Flickr As you already know, the DDdy girls are MUCH more curvy and shapely than the regular DDII bodies. The hips are wider, the upper thighs are thicker and of course the busts are larger. DSC_5088 by balldylox, on Flickr Here you can really see the difference in hips and thighs. DSC_5089 by balldylox, on Flickr More booty shots! DSC_5090 by balldylox, on Flickr The regular busts for the DDII are much longer in the front and back than the DDdy ones are. See how far up the vinyl is underneath Mai's boobs compared to Rei's? DSC_5091 by balldylox, on Flickr Since the DDdy girls are shaped to replicate anime girls with larger breasts, the busts are very large. This is the regular version of the DDdy bust compared to the DDII M-bust. DSC_5092 by balldylox, on Flickr Manami - "What in the HELL is going on here? Why are you guys naked? And why didn't anyone tell ME this was happening?" Mai - "Uh oh..." Rei - "Manami, this was all Papa's idea. Ask him." DSC_5093 by balldylox, on Flickr Manami - "So what gives Papa? Why wasn't *I* invited to be naked along with everyone else?" Mai - "Umm....Manami?" Rei - "Typical. This is why we did not invite her in the first place." DSC_5094 by balldylox, on Flickr Manami - "Come here Rei! You owe me for not inviting me!" Mai - "Now wait a second there sis." me - Hold on Manami, I *do* need your help here. You showed up just at the right time! Manami - "I did?" DSC_5095 by balldylox, on Flickr Yes you did. I am doing body comparisons and you have the Shapely Bust. I need to have you take some shots next to Mai to show off how it looks compared to hers. Manami - "Ooohhh.... okay! lemme get this top off then..." Good, you do that and I'll get Yoko over here to help. DSC_5096 by balldylox, on Flickr So now we have all the different types of DDdy busts in attendance! On the left we have Yoko with the "natural" bust, in the center is Mai with the normal bust and on the right we have Manami with the Shapely bust. DSC_5097 by balldylox, on Flickr From the side you can see the differences in them. Size is about the same on the normal and shapely busts. Yoko's are a bit less rounded in shape. DSC_5098 by balldylox, on Flickr From the top, you can really see the separation that these have. Yoko's are the farthest apart and she also has no nipples on her bust. Yoko's also has the most natural shape of the three... well as natural as you CAN be with these things. DSC_5099 by balldylox, on Flickr When I first got Yoko, I had no idea that more than her bust was different from the regular DDdy body. Here you can see some of the differences. Her lower torso is a little longer and thinner at the top. This makes her a slight bit taller. I tried to push the top of the torso down but this is as far as it goes. DSC_5100 by balldylox, on Flickr This side shot really shows you how different Yoko is from the normal DDdy. Look at the arch in her lower back. It makes her butt look rounder and her mid section look slimmer. She also has a slight "bump" just below where her bust attaches. DSC_5101 by balldylox, on Flickr And from the rear ( ha ha! ) you can see how her waist is much thinner. Her butt also seems to be a little rounder on the bottom too. DSC_5102 by balldylox, on Flickr And just for fun, here are some comparisons of the DDII regular L-bust and the regular DDdy bust. DSC_5103 by balldylox, on Flickr Last but not least, we have the DDII Shapely L-bust and the DDdy Shapely busts. M - "STARE" DSC_5104 by balldylox, on Flickr So in closing, I do hope these photos help people out with some of the questions they have about the different body types. Thank you for reading! Billy
  21. I saw these soft-vinyl DDS parts on Booth and they seemed really interesting! They are designed to allow for more flexibility/poseability. There's a preview video on Youtube demonstrating it. Would anyone know if these would they happen to be recasts (aka not ethical) or do they just happen to be original (aka ethical) 3rd party custom parts (in similar vein to silicone busts or jointed hands)?
  22. Warning, this topic could be NSFW a little bit for some people. Finally my doll goal of the year is done. After A LOT of difficulties, months of waiting and of course, my wallets death, I finally got an Adykadoll flex body. After some hours of playing with it, I thought it may be useful to share my opinion in case you weren't sure on acquiring one. Something to notice before I begin is that this body fits both SmD and DD (for this you need some pegs you can buy in the official website for the neck), which means it has the same shape and posability for both brands. Unfortunately, afaik, adykadoll body is not available for the classic SmD skin tones anymore (at least for now) and it will only be available in blue in the future. So, if you're looking for one, right now you will only find DD bodies from the official site. Anyway, let's begin. For this topic I will need help of the most beautiful and angelic SmD that exists (IMO). Her name Is Entropy but she prefers to be called "Enty". She's the discontinued semi real style version 1 Entropy, released some time ago. As you can see, she's using her new body. Now, excluding the silicone, what's the difference between the SmD vynil body and this one? More posability for the legs and a curvier shape that (IMO) looks much better than the original body. For posability purposes, more photos below. Starting with the torso: No posability differences here compared with the original vynil body. Even the big gap that allows to see the inner frame between the bust and the torso is the same. Talking about the inner frame, the torso section is metal-made. I couldn't visually confirm this with the tighs or shins, but, judging by the feel when you squeze the silicone, I'm almost sure is made of metal as well. For the legs articulation, I still need to get used to the body so i can update this topic. For now that's all. Hope it helps you in some way and if you have questions, don't hesitate to ask!

    Obitsu male modification?

Hi! I’m getting 2 obitsu bodies for my 2 ddh heads, one is male and one is female, i’m switching the girls upper and lower torso with angel philia parts because i really like detailed bodies, does anyone know any detailed male parts? x~x Does angel philia make male parts? Or is there any mod artists who maybe does it? Sorry if this sounds weird x-x . I really like ( NSFW WARNING NUDITY) https://www.instagram.com/shuishengwune/ creations but i don’t think they do commissions or work on vinyl 😵
  24. So, after years of eyeing AP dolls I finally found one in the price range and parts I wanted! I found her new on Mandarake and SWOOPED IN. After a few shipping delays she's finally here! ✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧ I just about jumped out of my skin when I saw the DHL truck pull up. They packed her really well. I mean REALLY well. I had trouble with the boxes ಠ◡ಠ A box within a box within a box. I'm not even going to make the joke, it's too easy. I finally got to her out! I was worried I wasn't going to like her as much as I thought I would but I was INSTANTLY in love. She's SO cute. Originally I had planned to redo the face up but it's honestly REALLY nice, so I may just add to it a tiny bit. They were not joking when they said soft skin; I've never personally handled a vinyl doll this size and had only touched a DD soft skin bust at a convention (who's owner very graciously allowed me to poke her titty (。•̀ᴗ-)✧). I will absolutely be filling her out with some polyfill ASAP. I also am used to doll parts that are strung together and have to be unstrung to be taken apart. The scream I let out when her forearm popped off scared my cat. And then I realized it was supposed to function like that; duh. Her joints were a little tight during posing, but I think that should loosen up the more I pose her? After fiddling around with her I finally started putting on her clothes and wig. I'm so glad what I've currently got on her fits well. There are so few clothes tailored to APs;;; The skirt was hard to get over her thighs and hips, but it's so cute on, if not a little... Short. Girl's caked UP ಠ◡ಠ. The rest of the outfit is soaking in a vinegar/water solution; I have no idea if that will help with vinyl staining but I figured it was worth a try because that trick saved my resin dolls LIVES; And their smooth smooth skin... Er, resin. Whichever. All in all I'm SO happy with her, and she photographs like a dream so- obligatory risqúe pic.
