Miku Type 2020 Outfits

I received one of the two outfits today, and got Miku in it.

 

 

This is the 2020 outfit. I should be getting the 2020-II outfit tomorrow or Monday, depending on if anyone is home to sign for the package when the postman comes.

 

 

There are three wires in the skirt surround. One is the the middle of the back and the other two are the leading edges of the front. It is rather billowy.

 

 

It has three main parts, the top, the skirt, and the skirt surround that snaps to the top.

 

 

The whole thing is lined except for the socks. The top, arm bands, and choker do have black lace that extend beyond the lining.

 

 

The fur parts for her tails went on easily. They have elastic. The headphones are one piece, but have hooks for the lacy band to go on. Took a bit of fussing as it doesn't stretch. But once on it doesn't seem like it'll come off. The ends of the lacy band to stick out due to the hooks, but with all her hair it's hard to notice.

 

Some thoughts: I do like it. I don't know anything about what it is from, but it is pretty. I'm sure I'll use the skirt, socks, and shoes elsewhere, but the top I can't because it has 4 big snaps on it to attach the skirt surround to. That's a shame as the top would work with other bottoms. Speaking of the shoes, I guessed at how to put them on, they were kind of a pain. And it's nice to have another pair of headphones that are easy to get on and could go with many other outfits.

So has no one else gotten these outfits? I was hoping to see more of them. Miku has been in the blue one for a rather long time. My DD life has really slowed down lately. Life is getting in the way, and I'm messing my girls dreadfully. But last night in was able to get around to changing Miku into the red 2020 outfit. I have to say overall I like this one better. I wish it was blue and not red.

 

 

 

 

 

 

This outfit is all one piece. I kind of which the red part was a separate dress from the flowy outer dress as I think it'll make a cute fitted dress. And it is a body hugging dress. Otherwise it has all the same extras as the other one. There are no wires in it and it's fun to pose. She'll probably finish out the year in this.

 

Some thoughts on the outfit. The wrist bands and choker are too loose. If I put her hands above her head the wrist bands slide to her elbows. And since they are hook and loop they keep popping off. I'll have to sew new loops into them so they stay on. The hair accessories don't have elastic in them, and were a tight fit, almost couldn't get one of them on. The shoes are the same as the other outfit, only difference is color. The double ribbon that is at her bust the ends were kind of maxed or glued together, but one side was apart when I opened it. But looking on line the Volks photos show it as being apart to begin with. So not sure if that was for shipping or to help it look better in the package or not.

 

In the end I am happy to have gotten these outfits. And as far as I can tell, I don't think the socks from the blue one stained, but don't take my word alone for it. I used her old stained legs, so I couldn't tell if there were any new stains or not.

I got the blue one, and Amber wore it for a while. She was in her bodysuit, so the result wasn't very photogenic. I had misgivings about the stockings and choker staining.

 

The outfit overall is very nice. I think they could have done the shoes better though. The way the ribbons hook strikes me as a poor choice.

VolksUSA STILL hasn't shipped my blue 2020 outfit. I guess my Miku is getting it for New Years' instead? Still nice to see photos of both sets while I wait, though! I had almost forgotten the set came with shoes, but I do think from these shots they'll be pretty versatile separate from the set.

It only take 3 days to get from Volks to us, so I wouldn't panic until the 20th, Poof.

 

As for the shoes, I didn't find the red ones as hard to put on, but that could be because I already had experience with the blue ones. They are cute shoes, and would go with just about anything of the same color.

They haven't even put it in the mail, LOL. I guess it's because last year's IM@S preorder dolls finally hit USA and they're busy shipping those out?

To answer that, 7th Dragon was a series of RPGs published by Sega and made by the now-defunct company Image Epoch. The second and third games in the series, 7th Dragon 2020 and 7th Dragon 2020-II were on the PSP and had some type of collaboration with Miku and are the source of these outfits. These games weren't released outside of Japan except for the last one, 7th Dragon III Code: VFD for 3DS which got a US release but does not feature Miku, as far as I know. Of course Volks has the two outfit sets from 7th Dragon III as well.

I’ve loved these outfits but didn’t have the funds for them at the time they were released. I was also very worried they would stain badly, especially the tights. Have you noticed any staining, or do they seem okay?

I already had a set of legs that were badly stained, so the socks were only on those, so I couldn't say for certain if they stained them more or not. Sorry. But you can wash them and use a cut body stocking and be fine, IMHO. Volks USA is going to be selling them again for the Miku Expo, so keep your eyes out and you can get one or both.

 

I have to say that Miku has really taken to the white hair pieces from the red outfit. I don't think she's taken them out of her hair since I put them in. They go with about everything.

I just got the Red 2020 set, and I'm currently trying out some stain testing on an old torso on mine. So far over the past three days no staining from black or red dyes. I have no idea about the leggings, but I do have coolcat sheer stockings with white lace trim that I will probably end up just using underneath. I am concerned about some of the black lace on the neck staining even though most of it is lined - which I am also trying to test out.

It seems maybe Volks is getting better with their dyes? I have the Rise Kujikawa default outfit set and that stained so badly the first 10 minutes I put it on and left purple bruises everywhere from the dye getting on my fingers.

Ihave the blue one too, for the shocks i have a white ones under and no stains, the skirt whit the wires its very voluminous so i dont use it usually.

Is the Type 2020-II outfit actually red? It looks red in the photos, but it’s supposed to be pink/magenta 🤔
