AliceDoll Posted August 19, 2023 Is there a comprehensive list somewhere that has a list of what comes in each magazine? I just bought my first dollybird magazine (issue 35) second hand and I'm kind of obsessed with finding more! I can't wait until the magazine gets here! I'm specifically looking for MDD/Kumako sized patterns and I'd hate having to gamble on each issue! If there isn't one available online, is that something we might be able to do here? DollyInsider Posted August 19, 2023 I understand your obsession 😍 I’m totally addicted to the Dollybird volumes and I’m on a quest to collect them all I’m sure you’re going to love your vol. 35 I share quick flip-through videos on our YouTube channel and I’m also working on compiling a list of patterns from each volume Volume 33 featured Kumako and that volume has patterns for the doll There's a Dollybird patterns database here on DollDreaming It hasn’t been updated in a while but it’s a good place to start especially for the older volumes I hope you’ll come back and share your thoughts about 25
ragnamuffin Posted August 19, 2023 They have a brief overview of what’s in each magazine on their website, but it’s certainly not comprehensive. https://dollybird.shopinfo.jp/ Luckily Kumako is relatively new so you won’t have to track down too many older copies. I have volumes 30 and 33, and there was an article in Vol. 30 introducing both her and puyodoll so you can safely assume that was the first issue to feature her. Dunno about MDD, but the magazine skews heavily toward 1/6 dolls so it’s unlikely there will be much of interest to you if you’re only focused on bigger scale dolls.
StartPlanting Posted August 22, 2023 (edited) I have all of them except 2, 7, and 29, and your 35! and I’d love to update the pattern listings. I think you can find three issues online in a database scanned in. I’m a bit short on time until the fall due to work to do the database, but I’m off Thursday so I can flip through and give you the best issues to go for. Newer ones are likely gonna be your best bet but get a #10 if you can, it has underthings patterns for many sizes!!!(female). And doll dimensions. There is a lot of 1/6, Blythe etc. but older issues have a fair amount of SD, DD. There is also quite a lot of Unoa. (Which could be modified for MDD). Sarah Posted September 3, 2023 Following! I’ve been looking for patterns for my Kumako girls. I wish Dollybird had a kindle version! There are a few doll pattern magazines with kindle version on amazon, but 1/6 geared.
DollyInsider Posted September 4, 2023 For the Dollybird list I'm including the following: Volume number Doll the pattern was designed for Style of pattern (shirt, dress, stockings etc) Example: Volume 2: Neo Blythe Dress and Beret Blouse, Jacket and Pleated Skirt Pants w/Frills, Crochet Top and Scarf Super Dollfie Girl (SD Girl) Dress What other information would you need to choose a pattern? Would knowing who designed the pattern be helpful? Unfortunately, I won't have the time to scan & include images of the outfit
la_ Posted September 19 I put together a website to index my own collection of doll sewing books/magazines, if that would help you! https://dolldb.com/books If you click the title of each book (appears when you hover over the card, or hold it down for a second on a smartphone) the included patterns will be listed on the next page. I bought 4 more issues since I did the initial data entry so those books are listed but they don't show any contents yet, I'll be adding them soon. I only recently launched it, so there might be some issues. Please let me know if you run into any so I can fix them! 2 1 https://dolldb.com/ Doll Sizing | Pattern Index

I can really appreciate the time and effort you’ve put into creating such a detailed database, especially since I’m working on something similar myself. I know firsthand how much dedication it takes to gather all that information and scan images—it’s no small task, so I really admire what you’ve accomplished. I love the comparison chart and the find similar dolls feature you’ve added. Both are such useful tools for those of us trying to figure out which patterns might work across different dolls. That’s going to save a lot of people a ton of time and frustration. Keep up the amazing work! Your contribution to the community is definitely appreciated 👍

I've used your Dollybird flipthroughs as a reference so many times when I wanted to know what was in an issue before buying, so it really means a lot to me coming from you. 😭 1 https://dolldb.com/ Doll Sizing | Pattern Index
