K-2 Posted October 1, 2014 I find you just need to keep your eyes open because as well as finding miniature items in unexpected places, you can find "doll furniture" hiding among everyday items. As an example, at a local grocery store I found candle holders for the little votive candles that were styled like Adirondack chairs. (http://listia.s3.amazonaws.com/photos/4850ac2b4ec041fd94f7/medium.jpg?1362636128) Take the glass and candle out, add a little cushion over the hole- instant MSD doll lawn chairs. They were about $6. There are a lot of table top jewelry cases and office supply containers that look like little chest of drawers. (http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/151563/Office-Depot-Brand-3-Drawer-Table/) (http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/category/storage-cleaning/jewelry-boxes-storage/jewelry-boxes/12214/) Some pet stores have dog and cat beds that make great doll furnishings. http://www.petco.com/shop/searchresults.aspx?Ntt=cat+bed&x=17&y=16 "New" prices on some of these items can be high but it all depends on what you're looking for and how much you're willing to pay. But now that you know these things are out there it's time to run that ebay search-- Oh look! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Jewelry-Box-Dresser-Top-Chest-Mirror-4-Drawers-Side-Doors-Burlwood-/171479038852?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27ecf27b84
baldylox Posted October 2, 2014 I've found that you can get a lot of cool stuff for cheap at thrift stores and Goodwill. My Mom and I have found those peacock chairs for like $3-$5 each, nice white wicker chairs and couches like these: DSC_7823 by balldylox, on Flickr That set was like $10. We also found this chair for $5: DSC_4962 by balldylox, on Flickr It's almost identical to the one Volks sells. Speaking of Volks, this couch usually sells for $40 from Volks US. I don't know if it's in stock anymore but for the money it rules. DSC_6409 by balldylox, on Flickr And you don't have to buy stuff if you're handy with wood. I made these tables: DSC_4433 by balldylox, on Flickr DSC_0902 by balldylox, on Flickr And the two octagonal end tables here: DSC_2207 by balldylox, on Flickr And my mom found TWO of these old Fischer Price beds for $5 for BOTH. A friend made the pillows and comforter and another made the dakimakura. DSC_2209 by balldylox, on Flickr DSC_2208 by balldylox, on Flickr The little end table was $1 at Goodwill and the fish tank on top was 50 cents. So yeah, the best spot that I've found for cool stuff for the girls for cheap is definitely thrift shops and Goodwill. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop. Oni-Chan Posted October 2, 2014 As I said I love prop shopping. My advice is to go everywhere and don't look for just one thing, look at everything if you are looking for just one thing you might miss out on other stuff. Minuette Posted October 7, 2014 As I said I love prop shopping. My advice is to go everywhere and don't look for just one thing, look at everything if you are looking for just one thing you might miss out on other stuff. This is true! I was out at an antique store today and found a table and chair that I wouldn't have noticed if there hadn't been a little tea set on top of it! They wanted $42 for it as is and the chair was damaged so I passed on it. :C

You just have to look a lot :/ I agree it was outrageous. I was at an antique store in a touristy part of town so I expected prices to be high but I'm pretty sure the woman pricing her items was high when she priced them. The main idea was to keep looking in places you don't expect, though. :
