Akiko the Miko

Ever since finding about about Dollfie Dreams I've done all I can to learn about them. I first learned about them from the ever epic Danny Choo who hwas hiss own daughters. My favorite of his daughters is the popular Saber which he carries around with him alot and can be seen wearing a orange and white cafe maid outfit. Since then I've thought of ways to customize my daughter when I finally get one and I settled on one of my characters that I made for the Inuyasha fandom that I absolutely love to death. Her name is Akiko (Nakamura)

 

Her story is similar to Kikyo's in that she was a pristess that fell in love with a demon but they were torn apart and her demon lover kills her (not knowing she was innocent and didn't betray him) Akiko and her demon lover (a half shinigami or god of death half dog demon) Akihiro both lived in the Heian Period (supposedly the same era that Inuyasha mother lived in because of the multi-layered kimonos she's wearing in both the anime, manga, and movies) Anywho....after Akiko's dies she is resurrected some time in the Sengoku Era (which is during the peiod the Inuaysha storyline takes place) Akiko is resurrected by an old friend of her's and a female shinigami from Akihiro's clan named Hitomi. Together she and Hitomi try to get revenge on Akihiro and Akiko wields a powerful scythe that once belonged to Akihiro's father (who was once the head shinigami or grim reaper if you want to call it that)

 

Akiko is techinically a zombie....sorta but noe she doesn't hunger for flesh or have piece of flesh missing from her body. My idea of a zombie in her particular storyline is one who cannot eat, sleep, or feel. Akiko is also very pale her skin is almost white which is a major indicator to the fact she's a zombie. Another sign is that as all undead she's cold to the touch. After he resurrection Akiko is very cold and distant and only shows her old self when she's around children.

 

But then a human named Manami starts getting close to Akihiro climing to like him (but Manami is secretly from a clan of humans that seeks to wipe out all demons and the humans that have an affinity for them) Akiko starts to notice Manami making moves on Akihiro and is outraged and tries to kill Manami several times and at one point Akihiro defends her which really sends Akiko over the edge.

 

Afterward though Manami disappears to contact her clan to mobilize the troops and attack Akihiro. Meanwhile Akiko pays Akihiro a visit and they share a kiss but Akiko leaves giving Akihiro a cryptic message which he doesn't figure out until its too late. Anywho..afterward Akiko secretly resurrects Akihiro's soldiers that she had killed when she was first resurrected and the next morning Manami's clan arrrives. Akiko marches with Akihiro's ressurected soldiers and a big epic battle ensues. During the battle Manami tries to kill Akihiro while he's busy worrying about Akiko's safety and Akiko jumps in to save him and is stabbed. Akiko falls and dies in Akihiro's arms and Akihiro is so mad he displays his horrific shinigami powers and wipes out Manami's clan. Afterward, Akihiro's father (Mitsurugi who is also a full shinigami) stops Akihiro from wrecking havoc and resurrects Akiko fully. It takes a while but finally Akiko and Akihiro make up and rule the southern lands of Japan.

 

That's basically the story of Akiko and her lover in a nutshell. Since then I've done stories and I've done MANY drawing of her in Shinto Pirestess clothing.

Anywho that brings me to my plans for a dollfie dream. xDD since Akiko is my favorite OC I've decided to fashion my first dollfie out of her and I know exactly what I want to get. I'll Either buy Aoi or get the Dollfie Dream Dynamite base (with the shapely bust because Akiko has a big chest and I like my girls to have assests because I'm a girl myself XDD) and for the eyes I wanted Animetic Eyes / D Type / Bright Blue (RURI) or Animetic Eyes / D Type / Dark Blue (RURI-KON) or Animetic Eyes / G Type / Dark Blue (RURI-KON) and I'll have a long black hair wig. I also wanted to either make a miko outfit or find one for the Dollfie Dream Dynamite if possible. Anyone got any pointers for a potential dollfie owner (besides the stain remover xDD)

Volks did release its own miko outfit for the DDII which fits the L-bust. It comes up sometimes on Yahoo! Japan Auctions too. I like the fit, and the fabric is very nice.

 

For bodies, you also can also consider the Shapely L-bust part for the DDII coming out as an optional part in October.

Is that like a particular head or are you referring to like resin or silicone stuff I've read about (I've been surfing the forums everyday for a the past week but some of the this stuff goes way over my head sadly)

Sorry, yes the head mold is the particular head. There are 5 head molds available as optional parts from Volks. The 5th one is coming out in October. To make things confusing, it is called "number 6."

If your not good at painting do you know of anyone or any service within the U.S that will do the face painting for you? (I can't paint to save my life...all the painting projects I did in art class way back in middle school I loathed because they always ended up horrible XDD)

Whoa I'm jealous this dude has some mad skillz lol What other advice could you give for first time dollfie owners beside the obvious buy-a bottle-of-stain-remover-when-you-buy-a-dollfie thing.

I agree that Hikaru132 sure is talented. He is amazing!

 

I like buying lots of wigs because I can't guess what will look best on a particular girl. I am often surprised. Now I have a lot of wigs (more than one for each girl). I can play around with different styles on the same girl. I love fantasy colors, but some natural colors come out great on certain DDs. I can never guess so it is fun to just try them out.

Even if your character has long black hair, there are lots of long dark wig styles out there. Length and style are variables. Hime cut styles (like DD Akiyama Mio's default wig) are so cute. I really like those. You can even try out wigs that are a mix of black and maybe blue or purple fibers for variety.

Leeke World's Shadow Blue has blue and black fibers.

 

You have to be careful with dark wigs though. The wig cap part that holds the fibers onto the wig and touches the head can stain. I love dark wigs though. I use a combination of silicone head caps and cloth head caps to protect against staining. It can also hold the wig in place better.

 

I also love collecting eyes. I love how they can change a DD's look so much. It is fun to have options. There are animetic eyes available from Volks as well as custom ones out there on Yahoo! Japan Auctions. (If you want to save money, don't start looking at Yahoo! Japan Auctions. There is just too much fun stuff there.)

I also love shoes. I can't resist trying out shoes. The DD foot is about 7 cm. They can wear some shoes for SD. If they are a little big they still look fine if they are closed-toe shoes like sneakers or boots. Sandals can be harder for finding ones that fit.

 

DDs stand pretty well on their own, but I like to get a stand for them unless I have them sitting around. I don't want anyone jumping off a shelf or anything. Plus, stands are useful if you pose her outside or on surfaces that are more uneven.

 

I use various tote bags to carry mine around. There are some official carrying cases, but a nice big tote bag works pretty well too.

 

 

For clothes, Volks clothes are easiest for determining what will fit perfectly. A lot of other companies make clothes that work too. I have different body types, so I often just take a chance and try out an outfit especially if it is not too expensive. I can usually find a girl that will fit into it. DDs have smaller waists and hips than SD so some SD clothes are very loose. That can mean that DDdy bodies can fit into SD clothes better. I had this SD dress from K&K Workshop for years that didn't fit my DDs. I had other SD clothes from them that did. After the DDdy body came out, I was able to try it out and it fits well.

 

 

I also love collecting cute accessories like tea cups, chocolate beads, and eraser desserts:

 

 

Now I always have an eye out for 1/3 scale things. You never know where you will find something that works. It is fun looking.

 

When changing out optional parts like the busts, heating the vinyl gently with a blow dryer helps. The hands don't generally need heat to come off unless your DD has been playing out in the Minnesota winter weather like mine do sometimes.

Of all the wigs that I saw I'd have to say that the Leeke World's Shadow Blue is the best for Akiko cuz it'll probably match her eyes but I'll definately keep that in mind with the staining and the heating for hteb ust parts. I don't have to worry though I live in Texas heat xDD.

XD I only got my first girl recently, but I can give you a tad bit of advice....

 

You may have a set character in your head for your girl... but she may change on you once you get her home! Ichiko was planned to be my dignified classy princess, and since she's come home she's become a rather quiet but overall shy girl. Also, Dollfie Dreams and like potato chips... you can't have just one. XD I found this out because now that Ichiko's home, I keep thinking about getting another girl to maybe bring out her confidence ( and to wear all of the cute non-yukatas I have so Ichiko can wear what I originally planned for her to wear without being tempted by cuteness. XD)

Lol I know...I'm starting to think that my Akiko might go from a sweet girl with a nasty temper to a a sort of sophisticated, demure, sarcastic woman with a nasty temper xDD and yeah I'm thinking ahead about other dollfies I could welcome so my Akiko won't be so lonely. Maybe a male dollfie from volks or maybe a Dollfie sister or a mini dollfie xDD

Volks SD10 dolls tend to have an immature body build and are rather chunky in comparison to the DD bodies. An SD13 may work better though. Most resin 1/3 scale bodies tend to be on the chunky side though. However RingDoll and Iplehouse 1/3 bodies are know for their slender builds, so they may look a bit better next to the slender DD girls. I've never seen an Obitsu male body next to a DD, so I;m not 100% sure, but I'd imagine they'd look quite good next to a DD girl as well.

I'm reasearching into the Volks SD17 boys....are they good? they're taller than the others and they look more mature. I'm also looking into the kind that are taller like the 63cm one.

They're 65cm tall, that's about the only thing I know about the SD17 dolls honestly. I've never seen one in person, so I can't really verify how they'd look next to a DD girl aside from the height.

Her hair will be black and her eyes will be blue though I don't think Volks has an eye color that is like a blue-gray kind of color.

I'm thinking about doing Akiko's faceup myself but I have to look at lots of pics of face up similar to this so i know what style I want.

 

P.S Gotta work on those hands >.< Hands, feets, and backgrounds are my downfall when drawing lol
