First Dollfie Dream Faceup ♥ DDH-03

Recommended Posts

x3Ashley

Hi everyone

Today I did my first ever DD faceup, I bought her for my boyfriends Christmas present to make her custom and give to him as a gift I was quite nervous since it's my first try but I am happy with the outcome and I learned a lot ^__^

I would love feedback and to know if anyone would consider commissions in the future after I get a bit more practice (I'd love to open a shop one day to see and paint lots of sculpts ^^)

She is a DDH-03 / Yukino head in NS

And some in process / with eyes ~

Quite a nice job. Surprisingly so for your very first head. I may be interested in commissions in the future. So far I've had all of mine by one person, but someone domestically may be handy due to costs and all that. I shall keep an eye out for your faceup work. Your hands already sold me. If you can branch out, even better.

Thank you both! it'd be lovely to paint locally too, it's always hard to find people in Australia who do commissions but domestic shipping is so much cheaper. I'm thinking of re-doing my Makoto's faceup so hopefully with some practice and more examples I'll be able to open a shop ^^

Haha aww thank you! I hope he thinks so I'm glad you think the lines look crisp and soft I learned most about the eye area in particular so I think they'll be cleaner next time.

Thanks! Cute was what I was hoping for so I'm glad you think she looks that way I did the eyes with paint~

I shall add to the chorus: she looks so amazing, it's hard to believe that that's only your first face-up! It looks like the work of a practiced artist. I hope you do open a commission shop, if only so that I can see your lovely face-ups on a variety of heads!

Thanks so much! I hope I can open a shop at the end of this month or beginning of next year, I have another faceup or two I'd like to do for some more practice and samples but after that I'd love to do commissions to see and paint lots of sculpts

I'm not really sure what to charge though Does anyone have suggestions? I've looked around but it seems pretty varied so I don't know what would be a good price range for my style/work.

Prices do vary wildly, so it is hard to gauge. I guess just take materials and time in to account and factor something off that. Also consider whether you only want to do domestic or want to consider international; a lot of international folk really don't want to pay auspost shipping prices (which is why I never bother selling anything, domestic market is too small).

My first I got was $35 iirc. I have two underway at the moment and I think they were both going to be the same. It's been a while and the artist also bought the heads for me to avoid double shipping, so I forget the exact breakdown.

Cute work, maybe you had some experience with doing bjd face ups? Just got this feeling/vibe seeing the final result

Yeah I'd want it to be reasonable but still cover material costs, etc ^^ they do take quite a lot of time, but it is a lot of fun ~ I will have to see what people suggest and what my next faceups turn out like

I'd probably be open to international as well so at least they have the option if they're okay with shipping. I can ship DD heads internationally for $12 ~ $18 depending on location which isn't too bad, since they luckily don't weigh that much.

Thanks I have done a few bjd faceups before! Though I'm not overly good at it yet ^^"
