Mandarake and Yahoo Japan Auctions are much better choices for buying DD. Especially with how weak the yen is right now. Ebay is easily going to be a couple hundred more.

hmm is there any site that I could get my hands on DD miku apart from ebay and mandarake? Miku is the most beautiful DD I seen apart from Snow miku which haven't been released

If it helps any Dollfie World lets you choose 6 month layaway when you check out and you can pay monthly with Paypal. Their prices for outfits can be cheaper than ebay at times, but sometimes more expensive. You can also search Taobao.

alright thanks guys! I'll take a look ^^ hmm I see people opening their miku, when assembling them, they put on a tape before they put her clothes on, what tape is that and what type of tape are they using? I wanted to show the video link but I can't post any links =/

Volks sells tape that can be used to protect the doll from clothing stains. As far as I know any clothing color other than white can stain, but some colors are worse than others. From what I have read the darker the color the more likely it will stain.

 

I would say get a head cap as a priority. Wig caps are notorious for stains, and the head cap can also help the wig stay on. You can get them from volks and from Cool Cats. The cool cats variety have a lace trim at the edge and that trim won't prevent stains. I do find that the cool cats caps fit the dolls head better, but that's only been an issue on my Kos-Mos.

 

I keep my dollfie in clothing that is lined with white, and I haven't had issues with stains. Hatsune' Miku's default outfit is pretty dark in color if memory serves so you might want to pick up a white outfit to keep her in most of the time, and just dress her in her default clothing for photos.

on a side note, does azone 50cm original doll come with wig cap? or are their hair implanted like their 1/6 counterparts?

Miku comes with the tape that you've seen in the videos of her. You can display her in her original clothes without the tape if you wish to. Most of Miku's clothing is lined in white, but there are some black zippers that aren't lined. The tape has been shown to cause some damage to the dolls, so if you do use it, put the tape on the clothes and not the doll.

 

I have heard Miku's wig fits very tightly and can be difficult to put on. You might not be able to get a wig cap on under it.

The outfits on my Idolmaster girls Makoto and Chihaya are all lined with white, so maybe Volks is using that as a standard for new outfits in order to address the staining issues. That's very hopeful if it is the case.

Resin dolls shouldn't have that issue. I have no idea if the doll brands you mention are resin or not.

Resin dolls can get stains too, but they tend to be more resistant to it; magic eraser usually removes them. One of my resin dolls has some stains from her wig that even the magic eraser can't get rid of.

 

If the Azone 50cm's are made out of the same kind of vinyl as the smaller Azones (I only have the 1/6 size and not 50cm and don't know much about the bigger ones), they will be a bit more resistant to staining, because they're made out of a harder vinyl than DDs are.

I don't think so, it seems kind of random. Either Volks cares about staining when they make something, or they don't :/

 

FWIW, Sakuya Crimson's red outfit is lined with a dark brown/black fabric which doesn't stain (I didn't wash it at all either). Yaya's black kimono has a pretty, shiny red lining which stains a bit (you can see it in her kimono's sleeve). The café maid set is lined with white. Natsuki's Pajama set is lined with a grey fabric which doesn't stain.

 

And then some things are just absolute insta-stain monsters.

I hope it's okay to hijack this thread for my own question, but I'm getting dizzy from looking around the forum as a newbie so I don't know if there's already a thread out there (and I'd appreciate being directed to it if there is).

 

I'm most interested in the MDD, but I'm not all that into Rena's toothy look. Can any of the other doll heads fit her smaller body and still look good? If so, which ones and are there photos I can check out?

Oh goodness yes. There were several limited MDD releases that had special smaller heads, but you can turn just about any DD sculpt into an MDD. You just have to either keep away from the very biggest heads if you prefer proprtional looks, but if you don't mind the big headed chibified look any DD head will work.

 

Pictures of most of the standard heads on MDD bodies can be found in the Dollfie Dreams Style Database threads.
