DesertAngel Posted February 5, 2015 From where you bought her I bought her on Ebay. She was very expensive. I shopped online for a used Lily for about six months. I found "one." The seller was in Scandinavia and she had already sold it for $1900. I kept looking; but, the only copies I found were NIB. I finally purchased one of those. I'd rather not say what I paid. Let's just say, "I'm not rich," and she did a nice job of cleaning out my checking account. I have seen six copies of Lily, new, come up for sale on Ebay. There are three there, right now. Prices range from $2999 to $4500. The most I have seen advertised for Lily was at Sears online store: $10,000. I couldn't pay that -- even if I wanted to. mitsuki Posted February 5, 2015 Sears online store? haha Wow! The price is crazy!
Talolili Posted February 6, 2015 I already commented on your intro thread but still it'd be nice to see more Lily's here. As for Sears online I wonder where they get these products. No matter what I'm searching for Sears "has" it at a highly inflated price.

No matter what I'm searching for Sears "has" it at a highly inflated price. Thank you for your kind words and encouragement. I suspect that Sears doesn't actually "have" a Lily to sell. They are probably trying to insert themselves as a middle man in the transaction. For example, if someone orders her from Sears, Sears goes out on Ebay, buys one there and then marks the price up $6000. I suppose that's a good business model -- if there are a lot of stupid people out there.
katnaper Posted February 11, 2015 10K? Oh my! What a ridiculous amount of money. I wouldn't pay that much even if I had a million dollars. But yeah, Lily can get pricey. *Remembers how I still can't believe I paid what I did for her aftermarket* We have our own BLOG. Please visit us at the House of Nyan by clicking this link or our sig above. See you there. ArcticWolfie Posted February 11, 2015 there's a Saber for sale at the moment: http://page8.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/h177379879 maybe when I win the lottery
DesertAngel Posted February 12, 2015 Thanks for posting that! How did you find out about it? I assume, too, that there is a bidders fee and shipping on top of the $2940.00 that's being asked? I'd really like to be able to follow the Japanese auctions. Might be a better way of getting shoes and clothing than shopping Ebay, too. PS. And, I hope you win the lottery. Unboxing her is a really fun, one time experience.

Unboxing her is a really fun, one time experience. You could try Buyee (click the "overseas customers" ad @ top) I believe they also translate search results if you go directly to Buyee's website (I know Japanese so I use the regular YJ site to search) But yes they charge 10% fee, So for this Lily it would result in: 384000 yen for Lily 38400 yen fee 200 yen payment fee and then probably about 2000 yen domestic shipping fees, 5000 yen international shipping fees and 700 yen insurance 430300 yen in total = 3623 usd (and then the Netherlands charges about 33% import fees as well )
Gunter Posted February 12, 2015 First off, super grats about getting your Lily. While I may no longer have either of mine I believe she is still an amazing mold and just those green eyes. Gah. I love 'em. So again, super grats! Can't wait to see here! :> ~~~ On the Off topic side: Personally, I like Noppin or Japonica for shopping services. They are rather straightforward. Noppin is a browser based one which makes it really easy if you wanna compete in bid wars on your own, while Japonica you just fill out the order form and let them handle it. I just choose which based on how I'm feeling. Also, I dunno for sure if it is still true but there are some really bad horror stories with Buyee. Just a fair warning for ya. And the fact they charge a flat 10% for everything is pretty ridiculous for smaller items. Most don't actually do that, and they have an interesting way to calculating things from my understanding that leaves to supreme overcharging. I also recommend Mandarake or Jungle for shopping for clothing. Easy to buy, and they do have some pretty nice gems from time to time at damn good prices. And generally better rates than eBay for dolls if you ever feel like stomaching another expensive darling. XD I'm not including all other options out there. SO MANY. *___*
ArcticWolfie Posted February 12, 2015 Noppin looks good as well! Thanks Don't know about the horror stories about Buyee... used Buyee twice and no issues at all, but they are indeed a bit expensive (but you can modify the invoice before shipping to avoid paying the full 33% import fees in my country if you use Buyee ) And we're still waiting for your Lily pics DesertAngel! DesertAngel Posted February 13, 2015 430300 yen in total = 3623 usd (and then the Netherlands charges about 33% import fees as well ) Good god!! That's $5000! That import fee is outrageous. They think you're a millionaire? My Lily came from Ontario, Canada. Toronto, I suspect. No import fees. If I had purchased her directly from Volks, maybe that would have been different. I've never had to pay import duties on the DD parts I've ordered from them. And, sorry about not posting photos. They're coming on Saturday. Seriously, this is a beautiful DD and I wish every DD owner could have one if they wanted her.
DesertAngel Posted February 13, 2015 . . . if you ever feel like stomaching another expensive darling. Laughing my ass off about the way you phrased that!!! Yeah, it might be awhile. Right now, the problem is coming up with affordable clothing. And shoes! The shoes are more freaking expensive than PEOPLE shoes! So, I much appreciate your links to the Japanese market. I'll try using them when we're shopping for apparel.
baldylox Posted February 14, 2015 Right now, the problem is coming up with affordable clothing. And shoes! The shoes are more freaking expensive than PEOPLE shoes! Tell me about it! Finding decent shoes that are affordable can be a chore but check this link to a place called "Mint on Card" for VERY reasonable prices for some cute shoes: https://www.mintoncardinc.com/dolls/browse.php?toys=shop&BJD=50&name=Large+7+-+7.9cm&cbh=81 I've ordered from these guys a lot and they always do a great job for me. And they're located here in the US so shipping costs aren't stupid and shipping times are good too. And if you want to check out some clothing options for Lily, MOC has some of those too: https://www.mintoncardinc.com/dolls/browse.php?toys=shop&BJD=58&name=Large+Girls+56+-+60cm&cbh=75 Those aren't *all* the clothes they have that fit the DD's but these are very similar to the clothes that Alices Collections has for sale and at similar prices. Hopefully that helps you out a bit. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
DesertAngel Posted February 17, 2015 Finally! Pictures! Her shipping box, as it was picked up at the post office. (She flew in from Toronto.) That's the top of my dining room table. It measures four feet by six feet. I made sure I covered the table with a white sheet before getting started. IMG_2599 by rcgimmi@yahoo.com, on Flickr Very pretty presentation box inside. At this point, I'm quite excited! That's her future stand at the left of the picture. Metal. Volks. Another DD owner recommended it to me. She said the stand would be rock solid. That's important. Lily's a bit expensive and in full armor, she is a bit heavy. The white paper on top of the presentation is a written warning, "DO NOT PULL ON HER PONYTAIL" IMG_2607 by rcgimmi@yahoo.com, on Flickr Initial unboxing. This lady has A LOT of parts. In addition to all that armor and the hair, she has: three sets of hands; two swords (not shown in photo); skirt; petticoat; underwear; two sets of stockings. And more. The black patent leather pumps are gorgeous and very high quality. IMG_2609 by rcgimmi@yahoo.com, on Flickr Unwrapping her was bittersweet. I was sad that I could only do it once. On the other hand, I know she was very tired of sitting in a dark box in the bottom of a closet for almost three years. Upright in the stand. She told me that she didn't like to be seen either naked or without her hair. I threw a sheet over her and she stayed that way for a couple days. The 3.5hr assembly job was too much to do in one sitting. Had to finish it later. IMG_2615 by rcgimmi@yahoo.com, on Flickr First portrait. IMG_2614 by rcgimmi@yahoo.com, on Flickr More of the table layout. The instruction sheet, which is on top of the box, is beautifully done. I am considering framing it. IMG_2616 by rcgimmi@yahoo.com, on Flickr There's a reason there are two sets of stockings. The pair with the feet is for use with the pumps. The pair without the feet are used with the armored feet. The black, elastic pieces fit over her knees. They go under the armor and over the stockings. The waist on the petticoat is very small and difficult to fit over her hips. I was concerned about damaging it. Finally gave up and accomplished the job by -- ahem -- pulling her in half and putting it on that way. In underwear and on the stand. Dollar bill is for size reference. IMG_2618 by rcgimmi@yahoo.com, on Flickr In formal dress, with Caliburn IMG_2624 by rcgimmi@yahoo.com, on Flickr And, in full battle dress. DesertAngel Posted February 17, 2015 Billy - Here's the "shoe dilemma" I'm having. I can get cheap, low quality junk shoes for $10 a pair on Ebay. (They will probably stain like crazy, too.) Or, I can buy Volks shoes on the aftermarket. (I saw a very nice pair of Volks Sendai sandals on Ebay -- for $127!) Thank you very much for recommending MintonCard. I will definitely check them out. Looks like good quality and the prices are certainly reasonable. I think they're going to be the answer to the problem. Wouldn't have found them without your suggestion. Or, I can buy Volks shoes on the aftermarket. (I saw a very nice pair of Volks Sendai sandals on Ebay -- for $127!) Yeah, those cheap shoes on ebay don't always fit well and some of them do indeed stain, even thru socks. I try to stay away from those kinds of shoes for sure. And Volks is VERY proud of their shoes as you've seen with their pricing. Yeah they ARE well made and fit great but that's an awful lot of money to spend on DD shoes. Thank you very much for recommending MintonCard. I will definitely check them out. Looks like good quality and the prices are certainly reasonable. I think they're going to be the answer to the problem. Wouldn't have found them without your suggestion. You're welcome! The shoes they have are pretty good quality overall, the sneakers rock and fit well. Some of the slipper looking ones with bows on them do tend to lose the bows after some use but they're just hot glued or super glued on anyways so it's a quick fix for them if something happens. I'm glad I could help out, we can't have Saber without some nice shoes! As for other places to get shoes from, Mimiwoo on ebay used to have nice stuff at decent prices too. I have a few things from her and even tho they're over 4 years old, they still fit well and look good. Another spot to try is Cool Cats. They have some nice shoes but they cost a bit more than stuff from MOC. But the quality *is* a bit better and they have neat styles. Check those out if you get the chance.
