Got my DD Magazine! ^__^

I got my DD magazine and a membership card from VOLKS since I purchased the DD Compilation magazine online. Wow I feel so giddy and fuzzy and warm inside just looking at the different DD and DDdy's! I also have a sense of pride noe that I have a membership card. I already feels like I'm part of the family lol.

 

I have plans to stay with my aunt in California for the summer. She lives in San Diego but that doesn't mean I can't drive to Torrance to get my first daughter ^___^ That's why I'm saving up money.

 

After looking through the DD Compilation I've come to the conclusion that in the future I'll have more than one DD or DDdy xDD.... I LOVE LOVE LOVE Yoko, Mai Shuranui, Kanu, Sasara and Airi (her scythe is so badass...but is it possible to get her scythe separately? or is there a third party site that has a scythe weapon?)

 

If I'm lucky I might find one of the em in the store in Torrance, CA..if not oh well....I'll wait XDD but just being presented with an opportunity to get a first DD or DDdy is like......a dream come true. This is going to be special when I get it and I promise to post pics of it. I'll even create a flickr account ^^

EDIT: Actually I have it planned out already...I'm getting a blank DDdy body base to make my own DDdy character and have someone do the face up. That will be my first. My second will be Yoko cuz I love her to death and my third will be Mai Shuranui. After them....who knows I might get lucky and score Sasara...(one can only dream xDD)

Ah yes, the DD Compilation is a reat book to flip thru. So many girls in there to drool over.

 

You have a nice want list, that's for sure! All of those are wonderful girls to go for. But I hate to shatter your dreams of finding one of those in a Volks store.... that won't happen. All the ones you listed were older releases or limiteds so Volks doesn'y have them in backstock anywhere. You'll have to go aftermarket on all the character dolls you want. But that doesn't mean you can't find them all at decent prices. My Yoko was discounted at the store I found her in due to staining. It wasnt even bad staining either. And when I bought an outfit along with Yoko, I asked for any discount they might can do and they dropped Yoko from 54,000 yen down to 48,000 yen! I couldn't give the guy my money fast enuff!

 

Doing the custom DDdy girl is a great plan for your first tho. It will save you some money and let you choose how she will look. It will give you a more perosnal connection with her too which is always a good thing.

In the Volks stores I went to in Japan, they only had Aoi and Yukino most of the time. One store did have a Miu tho. Volks doesn't keep many DD's in stock due to most of them selling out so quickly as well as most of them being exclusives or limiteds. So finding anything that's not a new release is very rare.

 

Most of what is in the Volks stores is parts and clothing. Loads of option parts, eyes, clothes, shoes, etc. But there wasn't a huge selection for the DD's in most places I hit because they aren't as popular as the Volks resins are. So in relation to those, the DD's don't have a large amount floorspace alloted to them. But the displays they had in every store I went into were awesome! They had all sorts of DD's in there as models.... I saw Sabers, Yokos, Mais, etc in cool clothes and with neat accessories. It was a really great experience.

 

As for yen to usd, Google is your friend! Here is one I use often:

If You actually wants to find some older released DD in store, You have to go to Mandarake. In Japan

They have them, but second hand and of course limited choice and quantity.

Basically, every one limited DD which isn't in current order/preorder, is available only second hand.

And the biggest place is probably Yahoo!Japan, the pure evil incarnate

As for yen to usd, Google is your friend! Here is one I use often:

One option I use can depend on your browser and how it's set up.

 

If you are using one where Google is the default search engine or have a google search bar at the top just enter the words: yen to dollar

 

It will bring you the google search results but there is a yen to dollar calculator at the top of the page. I use Google Chrome so I just type it into the address bar and there it is. It just pays to get used to some way of checking as you will find yourself doing it often. haha

I bought Beato from Volks International, but I never received an card. It is only issued if you buy the magazines?

You should of got one when you got you first order from Volks. Speaking of the membership card what is it for. I have not seen anyware to put the number in. That and I dont order things too much. Me cheap me make things save money.

ya.. you should have got one from your first purchase from VOLKS USA, I don't remember getting one from VOLKS international thou...

oh, I did get Beato on Volks Int.... I will e-mail them about it.

Basically as far as I know (and this was from the site) the membership card allows you to get access to limited edition items for like raffles/auctions whatever they are and it there is an exclusive even where they have to check your card to see if you an official member or not. Ya'll should have gotten one if you purchased directlyy from Volks USA or if you went to a dollfie store...they are supposed to provide you with one. For me I'm keeping mine just in case I get the chance to go to a special event or to get the chance to win imited edition items.

What is a Volks USA Membership and how do I get one?

 

A Volks USA Membership is a membership which gives you access to members only events and items such as Dolls Party, One-Off Models, and Dealer Items.

 

You automatically are signed up when you purchase anything from Volks USA, either through the website or in our showroom. I have also never seen a use for the Volks Membership card. It would be cool tho if they gave a discont on preorders ( Saber! ) or maybe little freebies when you made orders ( like Cool Cats does ). But so far, I've had mine for almost a year and never seen any remarks from Volks about using it.

 

And this leads me to another thing....

 

I have TWO Volks cards. One is under my legal name and one is under Billy. So if they say I can only have one per perosn, how did I get two? And can I use them both since I am both people listed? It's certainly funny to me tho since the address is the same and all other info is too. It's just my given first name and my nickname have been issued separate accounts. Odd but funny.

 

Maybe I can use them as a father and son thing? LOL

I got one of those cards years ago and I could never figure out how to use it! It's pretty old so I don't know if it's any good, but I may email Volks USA about it.

I have one too, and other than a really cute little card with a Volks doll on it, I'm not sure what they're for either... other than absolute cuteness XD

 

I always thought it would have something to do with if your dolls needed repairs or not (that way they could tell if you bought it from them), but it doesn't seem to be the case.
