Non fabric staining items

So i just got some Glasses for one of my girls. They have black rims and the arms have rubber that is a clear and brown or black swirl in soft plastic. As i am waiting on some eyes the glasses are resting on some extra hands for testing. But will they stain? what can i do to prevent stains?

Recently I have heard of Mikus plastic black headset staining, but that may have something to do with the pressure as it fits tight. So its possible for it to stain.

I've had stains occur from the hilts of Saber's swords.

Two or three Valentine's Days ago I made a little red critter from a kit and my doll was holding it perched on her hand. It turned part of her hand pink where its fun foam feet were touching her, but faded after a while. My twins were wearing rings that were plastic with gold coloring, and those turned their fingers yellow and never faded without treatment. I've never had trouble with jewelry made from actual metal though.

With some metals you might have to worry about corrosion on the metals that might stain the doll. Copper, Brass, and Bronze can all experience corrosion under specific types of conditions. I'm not sure if the tarnish that silver gets would cause any staining. I believe Brass can be sealed with clear lacquer to prevent corrosion.

I do check things periodically, but I've never had any metals tarnish except on my own jewelry, and that's exposed to my oils and such. But I don't own any real silverware or anything to know if it's just luck or my climate or something.

how can it stain ? it sits on the wig !

The stain is probably from the wig cap where the headset is pressing the wig cap against the head. Wig caps are notorious for staining.

I don't recall all the details for each metal, but with some metals corrosion can require contact with saltwater, or very humid air. Dollfie don't sweat so saltwater shouldn't be an issue unless you put her in sea-water.

 

Even silver plated stuff tarnishes, but not as fast as true silver in my experience.

 

I had to fix Makoto's default necklace when one of the little cylinders broke off and I used brass wire specifically because I read you could seal it with lacquer to prevent corrosion. I live in a very low humidity area, so it probably wasn't a serious concern anyways.

As Wolf mentioned, one metal to look out for is copper (found in brass), which will combine with the chlorine in our vinyls (polyvinyl chloride, a.k.a. PVC) to form copper chloride. Copper chloride combines with moisture (humidity) in the air and forms cupric chloride hydrate, which leaves green stains. This is known in some circles as "green ear" due to dolls issued with brass earrings, which over time left the ear lobes stained green.

Well I put aluminum tape that is used for duct work on the rims of the glasses were the nose will touch and on the inside of the arms. You can't even tell it's there. Plus aluminum tends to age without discolouration so I hope it's fine.
