BeyondTime Posted October 3, 2015 I recently acquired an Ami Ayase Tokyo S/S Ver, and she comes with what appear to be leather pants in dark black. My only experience with Resin is from painting Japanese figure models, and with that resin light colors can usually be removed without any stains left behind. Dark blues, greens, reds and blacks will stain the resin. I want to be sure that I protect her from any stains, so my question is does anyone make protective clothing for SDs? I know the coolcats wig caps are listed as sized for SD, but all of their protective clothing is listed as DD only. Ami is an SD16. Any advice in this area would be appreciated. Gunter Posted October 3, 2015 There really aren't a lot of options for stain-prevention because honestly most resin simply doesn't stain? It is fairly rare that a stain will actually be deep enough to remove. Usually, a very quick run over with a magic eraser is more than enough to remove a stain. If you get one deep enough to outlast the magic eraser a very, very light sanding with a very fine (I'm unsure which level) sand paper will remove it with zero issue. The reason you use a headcap for a resin doll is because the wigs don't grip well and because the MSC can pick up stains, but the resin itself very, very rarely stains. I hope that can help you. One of my friends got that very Ami and has yet to report any staining from the fullset outfit (well, unless she put it on a DD obviously haha), so maybe you'll be lucky too. BeyondTime Posted October 3, 2015 Great thank you, My interest has mostly been DD as an extension of my anime fandom, but Ami was just too beautiful to pass up. I do have a set of white tights from Coolcats that is supposed to fit an SD17, so I may put that on her just to be safe. Wolf The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? Jezrah Posted October 3, 2015 At one point I had a resin Fairyland Pukipuki and when I made her a mohair wig I had used a pen to draw on the leather. The side effect of that was that the pen seemed dry, it didn't wash off the leather, but then it still managed to get on her head. But some vigorous rubbing with a magic eraser removed even a pen mark. Resin is much harder to permanently stain.
BeyondTime Posted October 4, 2015 At this point I am really excited to see her. I even got to thinking about using the VolksUSA Online FCS to make one custom sometime next year when the SD16s come up in their rotation again. They really are amazing works of art. BeyondTime Posted October 14, 2015 She arrived, and she is amazingly beautiful. I can see why people here like SD. I still love my anime themed DDs, but this doll is a genuine work of art. I do have a few more questions. Are her parts custom fit or can they be interchanged with other SD16 doll parts? She came with high heel legs, and I'd like to know if I order a custom the next time the FCS comes around and get the extra flat footed legs can I share them between the two? The same goes for hands? Is there anything I can use to paint her nails that can be cleaned off if I decide to change the color? All her papers are intact and unopened, but the owner registration is only for the person whose name is on the bill of sale correct? Thanks in advance.
