(Currently nameless) doll concepts.

So now that I have access to images and links (and apparently a marketplace!), I figure it was high time to post a thing about doll concepts. Also, all links lead to ebay. If you know the original place the item is from, let me know so I can buy it from there.

 

I've been going back and forth with myself on whether or not I want the Smartdoll Mirai I'll be ordering soon to have a custom characterization. On one hand, Mirai is pretty neat and Choo-San spent a long time on her, so my first emotional response is to respect that and go with that original character. On the other hand, Mirai likes orange and just dressing her in orange things would drive me absolutely bonkers.

It'll, in the end, depend on how I feel when she arrives. But, until that happens, here's a character concept I've been mucking around with.

 

I'm terrible at drawing so, uh, dress up and doll maker games are my primary designbooks for dolls. It worked out for Mau and I ain't getting any better at art, so it'll have to do.

 

I wanted something that would work with the original doll's faceup, hence the brown hair and the blushies. Mirai has noticeably brown eyebrows that I could go over with teal-green (my first haircolour choice due to a really gorgeous wig I saw a while back), but my hands shake and that would end up badly. I found a brown ponytail wig that could work if I decided against altering the original wig, even if it's a little darker than I think I'd prefer. Alternately, this wig or this for a shorter style.

 

I really like teal-green. I never see it on dolls or characters and I think it's super duper pretty.

 

And thesefor her eyes. A lot of this is a hodgepodge of items I like all smushed onto a beautiful sculpt. I think (hope) it'll look amazing.

I'm debating between a small bust or a large bust, for all of the obvious reasons of 'bobbies vs money.' I plan on getting all the option hands and painting her nails, and maybe toenails.

 

As far as a name or character goes, I figure I can make it up as I go. I know that she collects figures (probably Nendoroids or Figmas or mystery box figures, considering her size), movies, comic books and manga, plushies, video games, and kaiju. Something of a typical otaku, I guess. Her name will probably come from the same source that all of my dolls' names come from; me bringing her to a friend's house and letting him name her because he's really good at naming things for some reason.

Until then, she'll just be 'if Mirai and Hatsune Miku had a wacky oppai baby.'

 

I'd love suggestions or recommendations. This is my first vinyl doll, pardoning a small collection of MH and EAH dolls that don't count, and I am not very good at making up characters.

So I figured what I was doing wrong (thank you, Tumblr, you useless thing you) and now I've got a concept image for 'Mirai and Miku's wacky oppai baby.'

 

I may update this later if I bleep around some more on dolldivine come up with any other designs to use alternately, and or if I decide to include designs for some other dolls.
