Snow Miku project 2016 + preorder Fluffy coat outfit

I recv'd my email from Volks USA yesterday stating my 2 Snow Mikus were shipping via UPS and will be delivered on Tuesday!

I also asked Volks about the fluffy coat set and they said it won't be released until later in the fall. Not sure on a specific time as they didn't provide any additional info other than Sept-Oct-ish timing.

I paid for it in full, so I'm good whenever the coat set gets to me, but I do want to give it to Miku for Christmas.

So I thought the release date for the fluffy coat was the 24th of this month. Did it get pushed back again?

For USA orders it did for mine. I recv'd an email from Volks stating it was pushed back to late fall (Nov).

I got the email too stating it'd be November now. That's okay, it's still in the mid 90's here, and won't be cool enough for a light jacket until mid November anyway.

ugh have you guys seen the pictures of the outfit?? D; it's honestly not at all like the sample one, the puff balls are smaller, and the boots don't even have them!!! I haven't received mine but if it shows up looking like this i'm going to be soooo sad.

Oh wow that's stupid.

 

I guess I can add the puffballs to the boots myself since I really loved that detail. I kind prefer the ones on the top being smaller though, it looks more in scale that way. Even so it's crappy that they took people's money based on an unfinalized design. :/

I don't think they're smaller per se, they just looked smooshed and not fluffed up...maybe after taking them out of the package and fluff them up, it'll look like the Volks pics?

The gem on the bow also looks different and cheaper to me based on that picture. How disappointing. No "poofs" on the boots and cheaper looking bow. :/

Is there still poofs on the coat? In the poof picture there is one right at the bow but I can't actually see if they are still on the jacket with the way her arms are.

If this pic is what the final version of this outfit looks like than Volks was very misleading! This does make me upset there are no poofs on the boots because that's what sold me besides the other poofs on the outfit itself.

Just gonna say that maybe they have left the poofballs off as most likely they were glued on and over time they might fall off?

 

If thats the case, isnt that a good thing, the boots might end up with glue residue on them or even tear the boot fabric if the poofballs get knocked or accidently ripped...

 

As for the gem, it has always looked like a chepish craft one to me... theres one promo pic where all the outfit pieces are laid out and it looks spectacular and shiny but... you know.... lighting and photoshop?

 

Personally, i wasnt a huge fan of the poofballs anyway so im probably one of the few that this benfits ^///^

 

 

EDIT: I saw a snow miku fluffy coat set on yahoo japan, it looks like the coat still has its puffballs but not the boots.

At first I was upset by the lack of poofballs on the boots, but now I'm okay with it. The lack of poofballs makes it easier to use the boots with other outfits.

They do say on their site that it could change. Is it dissipointing, sure, but it's not a deal breaker for me. I guess I'm used to it already from my other hobby (O gauge model trains.).

 

I only realized recently that it doesn't come with new headphones, but just covers for the Snow Miku headphones. I just have standard Miku, so I wonder how they'll do on those headphones.

I wonder if Volks suffered from a poof ball shortage or something? Because not only did they drop the poofs on the boots, but the coat now only has two poofs instead of three. Kind of disappointed, but hopefully I'll still like the outfit when I receive it and see it in person.

That is super disappointing on the cheap changes. I'll have to change out the fluff balls myself (hope I can find perfect ones), but for the money I paid I shouldn't have to do that. :/ If I had known it would turn out this way, I would have just made the outfit myself.

My sentiments exactly, but I'm sure if I tried to make the exact same outfit it'd look like a cat got to it and dragged it through a shredder. HAHA

I'm sure my sour opinion will lessen once I get the outfit in person. These purchases I make aren't made lightly due to their cost and it took me awhile saving to afford it so I was expecting exactly what they pictured. Plus it's my first set ever...so expectations were high.

Bottom line: They should've at least put a warning label clearly visible stating parts of this assemble could change.

Oh well lesson learned, and I'll certainly think twice before pre-ordering another outfit set from Volks.

See, I'm the stupid one here because this is the second time I've gotten burned by Volks' outfits. The first was one the Natsuki's Punk Dress Set outfit; loved it until it STAINED ITSELF (don't even mention how bad it stained my doll). D: It took ages to get the stains out of my doll and the skirt itself is unsellable and almost unusable. My friend bought the twin outfit and her hat literally fell apart after wearing it once (mine is threatening to come apart after a few uses and the clips on both of ours broke).

 

But how could I say no to what looked like a safe and beautiful version of my favorite Snow Miku outfit? I think now I'll have to flat out refuse to buy any more outfits from them, besides the Kagamine ones (because I'm obsessed and again, stupid).

I understand how you guys feel about the outfit. I think this is the first time I've preordered something from Volks and had it look significantly different from the sample. Most of the time, preorder stuff looks way better than the sample! I'm sure I'll still enjoy the outfit, but I have to wonder about some of the changes that were made.

 

Outfit arrived today. Above is my not-so-great picture of the coat. The poofs cannot be fluffed up. They seem to be those cheap puffs that can be found in craft stores. The gem on the bow looks very cheap as well; I couldn't get a good picture of it.

Oh no! While I think it still looks lovely, it doesn't seem nearly as nice as the prototype pictures from Volks.

 

Are the puff balls and the fur trim different whites??

Why are there two puffs instead of three... Is it too expensive to put on a third one? <<;

 

Can't wait to see some girls dressed up in it to see how it fits! Is it really "fluffy"?

I agree that it looks lovely, but it is indeed disappointing TT_TT I was also WTFing at the two puff balls??? And it's funny, because on the sticker on the plastic baggy the outfit comes in, they have three puff balls...Volks, wtf?

Was the fur trim originally even a fur trim? From the early photos, I thought it looked like a cotton fuzz trim???
