Smartdoll faceup removal question!

Recommended Posts

daymien

Hi I'm thinking of sending my Smartdoll Chitose for faceup but I would like to remove her default faceup myself. Will it be any different from doing so on a Volks' DD, for example if Smartdolls used a different sealant other than MSC etc.

I removed my Eiji's default faceup, and everything came off with non-acetone nail Polish remover except the eyebrows and the line in the seam of the lips. Those needed a little extra elbow grease and Remove-zit to go completely.

At home:

DDH-05: Kimiko

DD Snow Miku: Miss Yum Yum

Smart Doll Ivory: Yuki

Smart Doll Chitose

Smart Doll Eiji: Hotohori

DD Saber Extra

DDH-07/SmD Hybrid: Maki

Smart Doll Harmony

Smart Doll Twilight

DDH-10 MDD: Anzu Futaba

Smart Doll Crimson Kai: Takeshi

Make sure it's non-acetone. That's very important.

Hello,

When you use Acetone to remove the paint/makeup, does the texture or finis change on the vynal that makes it more shiny/more matte? I'm interested in practicing on worn/unusable heads and would like to know how to do it properly.

Thank you for your time.

I use 100% acetone to remove the faceups I do when I practice. It's VERY strong compared to non-acetone nail polish remover or rubbing alcohol. The paint, pastels, and sealant practically melts off. I haven't noticed it making the vinyl more shiny or matte.. it just returns to normal? But really wouldn't recommend keeping acetone on your heads for very long at all because it can eat away at the vinyl or even harden or shrink it(I'll be doing some head shrinking experiments related to this soon.. lol;;;). Once you get the paint off, you should rinse the whole head or at least the area you applied it in water right away to get out as much of the acetone.. or at least that's what I do. xD;;

I think Windsor & Newton brush cleaner is the most recommended solution for removing doll faceups in general, but I haven't tried it yet. It's probably much more gentle on dolls than acetone is.

edit: why is it bleeping my quote ; - ;"

Thank you very much. Would you suggest using acetone as a means to removing stains as well? or do you need a deeper cleaning agent?

There is a sticky thread under "Care and Repairs" that addresses stain removal in depth:
