I've been meaning to start this game/thread for ages, but Thursday always seems to come and go regardless of whether I'm working or not, and I'm left shaking my head at myself over why I didn't just up and do it.

 

#throwbackthursday is a really popular tag on IG, and I figured people might like to post photos of their dolls here to show us how they've changed since they came into our lives If you're not familiar with this tag, traditionally you'd post two photos of one of your dolls to show the contrast between how they are now, and how they were then. Dates are optional

This is my tangerine back in June 2016 when she got her face up. She was barrowing an Obitsu 48cm body from an Obitsu doll I already sold.

Here's my first girl Manami when I first got her out of her box way back in June of 2010.

And here she is earlier this year with me in Japan. Her wig has changed, her face has been redone several times and she is now on a DDdy3 body with Peach Pai Plus sized silicone boobs. Her body, hair, face and boobs might have changed but it's still her original head and eyes on her and her love of sweets has not diminished at all since day one.

Here's a photo of Tsubaki a few days after she arrived in 2012:

And here she is this year, 2023. Her only changes have been her wig - which was an old MSD wig a friend gifted to me at a meet - and her bust enlarging from a Medium to a Large Shapely courtesy of her stay at Balldylox's place for many years. It's like she grew up and came home  But she'll never grow out of that sweater and will wear it regardless of whether it's Christmas time or not.

this is fun, here's an old old picture of Samus I don't think I've ever posted anywhere.  Back when she was still solo.

until the wonderful, Heaven-Sent Gift of the WorldBox AT201/203 Doll Body fell into my lap in late-2023;

in 2010 or so... i adopted my first 27cm. size OBITSU BODY-based Character doll, Mikuru Asahina from the 2006 Anime "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya"
... and in 2019-ish... i got my first of a long line of 2018 OBITSU BODY 26cm. bodies to upgrade Mikuru and my other 1/6 girls with;]

Where it all began. Unboxing my first ever DD in October 2020.

We were deep between the reopening between lockdown 1 and lockdown 2.

We lived in a really shabby seafront apartment that had wonderful views but deafening roof noise whenever it was windy.

It had rained for a whole week and I was on tenterhooks waiting for her to be delivered. In the end I hassled them so they posted her out to me.

Towa was awesome but then I quickly found out DDdy hips are bad and I was almost in tears trying to fix her legs back on.

Current Towa and her expanded family. Uzuki came second and Kizuna AI was third.

I would say half of the tribe were funded by a very generous redundancy payment from a former employer.

Peak doll madness was probably when the two Kirikas and Evil Rin came. But Kirika is now very rare and Rin is busy re-grailing herself 😂. Back in October 2020 Rin was kind of my first grail, but I never thought I would actually acquire her.

I Had SO wanted that book back around 2001/2002ish, as i was just catching onto, and finding myself with an affinity for such Ladies' Fashions.

never did actually get that book... Nevertheless, 20-odd years later, here i am;

 

My first Smart Doll an Eiji who I named Haruka, fresh out of his box and already so full of personality.


And the first photo of Haruka in his forever look still very full of personality.  (And yes he is named after my favorite Sailor Scout.)
