Yami Usagi Posted March 30, 2019 I didn't want to put this in introduction since I'm definitely not new here, but it's sort of a reintroduction, so my apologies if this is out of place! Uhhhhh let's see. If anyone remembers me, I fancied myself pretty active in dolls and figures around 2011-2015. I actually met one of my best friends on figure.fm(those were the days!!). I dropped out of this hobby & figures around 2015 because of college & a general crisis of identity that came with it. That sounds dramatic, but I basically tried to give up art. That lasted for about a year & then I returned to fandom, but with cosplay as my hobby instead. So since then, I've poured most of my time & energy into cosplay. I've also spent my time on social media like twitter & instagram instead of the 'ol forums. I really love cosplay as a form of self expression, and social media is fun too. But lately I've been tired by both. So tired. Cosplay especially is very monetized & about popularity & keeping up, & with how instagram works, it feels less about art. There's also a lot of drama & social issues are baked into how you are viewed in the "community". Wanting to keep my photography separate & organized has kept me from actually making work too. I'm just tired!! My friend (same one from fm) told me the DD forum was revamped, and while I cannot afford to buy things in this hobby, I guess I wanted to come back & hang around. I would like to get back on sites & forums in general as opposed to social media to be honest. I am also now much better at sewing & photography, so I hope this will encourage me to start paying attention to my dolls again. As for my family, Celeste & Tamaki are still with me, but Kanade & Kagura were rehomed. Even though I can't afford new dolls, I'm super interested in the Nier Automata DDs & a boy would be nice one day. Ahhh thank you for reading! Dunno if you'll remember me either - I was a reader of your blog back then, "River" on Wordpress as well, and I've admired your photography and creativity since then. So it's good to see you again! And your girls too - Celeste is as pretty as always, and Tamaki is adorable! Hope you enjoy your time here on the forum~ You mentioned sewing - I think there is a group putting together a sew-a-long, which should be a lot of fun. (^u^) See you around, Yami! I hope to make Celeste look even nicer 😤 I think even when I was active in the hobby, I emphasized getting new dolls & she never reached my full vision. I'll look into the sew along.
