Skin tone?

Recommended Posts

CrazyDollPerson

I am so frustrated.  I am trying to figure out the skin tones to buy a body and head to have painted and they have "normal" "flesh" "semi-white"...however I want to get Miko and put her head on an MDD body but she is listed as "fair" so which skin tone is "fair"? I need to make sure I get the right skin tone MDD body and a new head for the DDdy body but don't want to get the wrong ones and have them not match.

Miko is flesh/fresh, which is the same thing that used to be called "normal" and you'll often see abbreviated here as NS ("normal skin"); I've never seen it referred to as "fair."

Here's Volks Japan's page on Miko: https://www.dollfiedream.tokyo/dd_en/model/dddy_miko/

I'm actually surprised they updated that to say flesh instead of normal.

Oh I am looking on Volks USA and here is the description of the body tone...that is where I got fair from (although they have it fairl)

Thank you for letting me know what skin tone it is.  I ended up just buying a blank 06 head and an MDD body so I knew for sure they were a match.  This is good to know for future reference though.  I was like why is this one listed as something else?!  It was driving me nuts!

'Fair' is actually what normal skin for SD became when they changed the names- I guess they wanted to make it clear that 'normal'  SD skin and 'normal' DD skin are still different colours due to the difference in material (SD is more yellowish, DD more pinkish) instead of giving them the same name. I guess that's where the site error came from, because they did both to used to have the same name.

Ah, so if I understand correctly, fair/flesh/normal are all the same?

They're the same in the sense that they're all referring to a 'standard' skin tone: Flesh/normal are the same, but 'fair' is the SD version of that, and applying it to DD was an error. At the end of the day, Miko is flesh/normal.
(the only other skin tones for dd are semi-white, white and tan, but white is being phased out and tan is limited to Dream Choice/D'Coord and isnt available online)
