This information is direct from Micky, who runs and manages the Icon doll setup for Volks.  She was super cool to chat with and very happy with how popular the Icons have been.  

In closing, unless you know someone going to Dolpa who isn't interested in getting an Icon and will use their entry for you, you can't get one until they do the After Event.  And that's not always a guarantee that they'll have one.  I know they skipped doing that twice due to low production numbers in the past.  So the aftermarket is usually the best way to get one.... unfortunately that means paying higher than retail prices.

I've always wondered how many dolls they have for the lottery events for the after parties. I figured they were few in number, but not that incredibly low which makes it a pretty special thing to win one.

I also had no idea until I went to Dolpa and talked to Micky.  A good friend of mine who also collects the Icons has been following the releases as much as I have and we were at a higher number as well.  This release will be the 11th time they have been offered for lottery.  As Micky said to me, no more than 40 Icons are available at each of these events so 40x11=440.  That is the maximum number of Icons (not the actual amount) that have been offered so far since they began the line back in 2019.  That's not of each type of doll either.... that is ALL of them.  Every skin tone, every style across all releases.  440 total worldwide.  For being in production since 2019, that is an incredibly small number.  So yes, being able to win one through the lottery is definitely very special.  

For most people who want one, the aftermarket is the best bet.  But you'll be paying over retail for them due to the limited numbers.  Still, if you really want one, you'll have to pay up.

Asleep Eidolon made an official Nikki BJD a few years ago. She occasionally surfaces on Xianyu for insane prices, but is otherwise almost impossible to get now. I don’t really like the semi-realistic style, but hope that TinyFox or another MJD company makes one in anime style. I think it’s unlikely for Volks or other Japanese doll companies to pick up Chinese IPs like this or they already would have done something with characters from the Hoyoverse.
