DHL Shipping Price/Proxy Use

Yamato is pretty common within Japan, I didn’t know they shipped internationally. When I had luggage shipped from my Tokyo hotel to the airport it was with a Yamato subsidiary. With everything going on now there’s no guarantees, but they seem reliable.

Volks is shipped Sakura Amamiya to me on July 27 via DHL, they charged 8250 Yen for shipping which is $78.73 right now.  As for timing, she is waiting in New York right now and is supposed to be in Connecticut on Monday August 3.

Yamato (also often called Kuroneko because of their logo) is one of the biggest parcel services in Japan. From my experience, they are very reliable and fast when sending stuff within Japan. But I really have no Idea about their international shipping capabilities, so I wonder on what routes they are getting packages out.

This statement of theirs says that shipments are ‘delayed’ (only ‘suspended’ for Nepal) but that’s kind of vague. I also don’t know how they ship internationally and wasn’t even aware they did, they only say ‘trusted global partners’. Their rates don’t seem to be too awful (a lot more than EMS though) but I wish there was more info because I don’t really want to pay for it if it’s just going to sit around the same as the EMS stuff is.

Just in case it helps anyone out: they also apparently don’t ship to Canada or Mexico, nor China, the Philippines, Argentina, Paraguay, Brazil, Venezuela, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Portugal or Russia, regardless of pandemic(likely due to some quirk with the postal agreements in those countries??).

 

So then it's safe to assume they'd function like EMS, imo. I don't want to wait forever for my doll to be shipped and have her possibly get lost in the warehouse or something, so I'll just wait to do a DC run.

So my MDD should arrive tomorrow, Monday USA time. My proxy used Yamato and shipped her July 29th! Yamato shipping was faster than expected. 😊

That's the best news I've heard all week. Perhaps there is hope after all. I'll have to save a bit up again, but now that there is a chance I'm happy again
