pyoko Posted August 7, 2020 (edited) I just bought the rescue creme from an European shop and am a bit confused because it has a production date from October 2019! (At least I hope it is a production date and not an expiry date. ) How long is the creme good to use? I wonder why it is that old. It was actually out of stock and only came back around a week ago, so one would think they ordered it from Volks recently. blossom Posted August 7, 2020 (edited) I was actually hesitating to order that before getting an actual stain because i was worried of the durability as well so i’m highly interested if anyone can answer this ^ ^ also i think i know which site you are talking about because i was also waiting for it to be back in stock and i saw they got some back recently! I thought it would be good to have it ready when a stain appeares 😄 Quick treatment probably helps better, and you never know if the creme is available when you need it. I actually first tried to order from Volks directly but they do not ship any of the care items to my country! Sucks so much ;_;
Tierparkzone Posted August 7, 2020 (edited) Dream rescue is usually good for one year after the printed date. After this it will still work but the effect will be weaker the longer it sat around. Anything older than 2 years is in my experience not worth the effort anymore. 5 hours ago, pyoko said: I just bought the rescue creme from an European shop and am a bit confused because it has a production date from October 2019! That is likeley not your shop's fault. Even when buying dyrectly from Volks (Dollpoint or Ordering) the stuff is usually 4-6 months old already... Edit: I guess they are cooking up a new batch only once in a while - my most recent one is from 10.2019 as well. That seems to be hit or miss. 1 The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? Heroin is illegal, Dollfie Dreams probably should be. “Empty wallets, full hearts.” That’s probably an apt description for the effects of DD addiction
Subaru Posted August 7, 2020 I'm still using Dream Choice from the first batch of production and it's still working albeit not as strong. It was able to remove sharpie transfer from one of my doll's forehead within a two week period. I reapplied it every few days and kept things wrapped in plastic wrap. However I really think it is not okay from Volks to sell ~10 month old creme =_= At least it will be okay for some months to use it, I guess. Interesting username btw. Are you a German speaker too? Mine did not come with English instructions too. @blossom Yes, we really need an official Volks Europe shop 🙏 @Subaru I actually heard people use acne creme for treatment, but it is slower than the dream rescue and has to be applied over weeks. Luckily you can find the JP listing for it and at least use Google to give you the basic guidelines on how to use it. Plus if you know the kanji for day (日), the little sheet included gives you pretty much everything you need to know with the two images and "1~2日".

Thankfully I know how to use it because so many people talk about it online (and the acne creme treatment I already used works the same too, just slower. At least that is what I have heard from several people) Edited August 7, 2020 by pyoko

Volks actually have a translation of the sheet and the back of the package on their website: https://www.dollfiedream.tokyo/dd_en/item/care_dreamrescue/ Slightly wonky grammar here and there, but it gets all the information across. 4 hours ago, pyoko said: Interesting username btw. Thank you for the translation and your offer I saw on your profile that you live in Tokyo, so I wondered if the name was chosen randomly. Must be great to live that close to all the dolls & supplies (though also expensive 😄).
pyoko Posted August 8, 2020 Kind of strange, additional question; is the consitancy okay if it feels like rough /granulated toothpaste? I assumed it would be more "creamy" 😅
Tierparkzone Posted August 8, 2020 Yeah, that's normal. Best to stir it with a cotton swab to get the grainy and the liquid phase mixed back up before use - it will still be very viscous and grainy, though. Wrapping the applied area with plastic film also is only really necessary when treating bigger areas. For small spots a dab of the cream and letting it sit for two days is usually enough. Btw. - As I see you have a Smart Doll: Dream Rescue works without issue with them, but after treatment of the harder parts (everything except bust and hands) the treated area may appear a bit rough. This is because residual cream is stuck in the pores of the vinyl (that's what it's supposed to do after all) and the harder shell parts of a Smart Doll have finer pores than a DD (that's also the reason they don't stain as quickly). This residue will evaporate over the next two days after treatment and the roughness will vanish. engelinvitro Posted August 24, 2020 (edited) Sorry to bump this thread at this time. I seem to be having problems with my Dream Rescue doing anything to my vinyl pieces. What I thought were very faint stains on my head would not come off the vinyl after 3-4 days of treatment. Maybe the potency of the cream is wearing off? But it seems to be so soon if the it's supposed to last a year from production. Mine was purchased from VolksUSA and also has the production date of 2019.10.10. Update: The stains on my DWC head are finally lifting after 4 days. Eyebrow stains are still there though. Ugh. I do not recommend Golden High-flow Acrylic paints in Raw Sienna on vinyl. It seeped through six layers of sealant and still managed to stain my doll this bad. Edited August 24, 2020 by engelinvitro
Tierparkzone Posted August 24, 2020 Hmm... The batch from 2019.10.10 seems to be the one that most people currently have - including myself. Two of my girls just completed treatment of some localized but somewhat prominent mystery stains (some dust must have gotten into their socks) a few days ago. The Dream Rescue worked as usual for me, so the age of the cream by itself is not necessarily the culprit in your case (mine was first opened in April 2020 - so not even freshly unsealed). If the potency of your cream is really hampered, maybe because it got too warm somewhere during shipping or storage? Not overly likely, though... I've come across a few pigment types that are immune to Dream Rescue (but they remained at the surface of the vinyl and could be tackled with paint thinner). Do you think the stain got at least a bit fainter during treatment? If not, you might be dealing with something that is just not affected by Dream Rescue. Did you wrap the treated parts in plastic film after applying the cream? While this helps keeping the cream in contact with the affected area, if location and size of the stain allow it, maybe try again without wrapping. Exposed cream will absorb moisture from the air and become a bit runnier over the time of the treatment - which may or may not positively affect its potency. engelinvitro Posted August 24, 2020 Agh, I probably should've gone in-depth with what I did using the cream because I did wrap the parts in plastic wrap. I even took the extra measure of putting them inside airtight plastic containers. I used acetone to wipe my doll's faceup and scrubbed the stained area with a magic eraser also soaked in it. Nothing happened. That's why I resorted to Dream Rescue. Maybe the acetone and magic eraser set the pigment into the vinyl? I'm just making up stuff now 😅 Even with the DD body parts I'm treating, it's taking a long time for the cream to work. There are spots on my doll's feet I'm treating and it's also taken 4 days for Dream Rescue to do any lifting. I honestly don't mind waiting a while, with the exception being the doll head. Not only do I want to repaint my doll soon, I'm also worried about spraying over the treated areas (Of course, after washing the cream off the doll).

Are you leaving the Dream Rescue on the whole time, or removing and re-applying before the recommended 1-2 day mark? Asking because I have some orange spots on my Miku's hands that I was trying to fully remove and saw only slight changes after 2 days, but I still removed it after 2 days and re-applied it anyway, since the instructions say not to leave it on longer than that.
