Detour 1: Chicken wings.

I minor detour at the start ... something I've wanted to craft a long time, and finally got around to making some kind of effort for it

Amusingly at first I underestimated the ammount of feathers I needed to make these, and once I finally I got more, I made the pattern
in reverse, so I had a odd pair of wings ... trying to correct this a third time, the third wing just was about 50% bigger than the
first one ... so yea.. brilliant crafting moment...

I've been wanted to take my white skin DDh06, aka Kira out for a few more photosets, but finally managed a rather two tone miko session.

Results varied, but was an overall success in my opinion.

Two things made this set happen, first I've not really taken that many pictures of my Nero, aka Mary... and second, the last time this outfit was out, so was the yellow saturation in the photos...
time to correct both with the same swatter...

Discount Harriet:

I'd been meaning to take Sinon out for a photoset since I'd never really done much with her out of character... and while watching the rather ... colorful series "Hunters" Harriets ice cold stare and leathery nun attire sort of went click.
So time to dig around the boxes, and with a mix of three different volks outfits this was the result:

Btw, I really liked all your photos. The lightning and focus are so clear and the outfits are gorgeous. I think my favorite is Discount Bakatrina . Her expression looks somewhat mysterious and interesting.

All great shots but I especially love seeing Sinon. There really aren’t too many of her shown off and your choice of outfit and props is great. The photos really bring out her fantastic gaze as well.

Well, you did actually quote the answer to your question, but ... For reference sake the body is a old DD2, so if I recall correct it has the minor extra hinge in the upper knea/lower thigh piece. So by removing the outer shin vinyl pieces, turning the legs below the knea's about 45 degrees outwards, they will fold very close to the thighs. which if clothed, results in a near realistic whatchamacallit pose, leaving the feet able to peek behind the butt. Just unscrewing the legs from the knea's will result in unbalance, so this configuration does work rather nicely.

as for making the photo's, the recipie isnt rocket science, just a old D3200 nikon, 35mm prime lens with a soft focus filter, and up to the Sinon pictures two desktop "pixar lamps" with massaged led bulbs (I wont go into detail since the result is actually a bit dangerous), and a tripod for long shutter times.

Yea nepko is a humdrum standard 04 I picked up on YJA awhile back that had some extra effort put into the faceup. I think the details are on the archived forum's collection post of mine.

mm, well Sinon can be a bit of a tough one to take pictures of.. I mean it took me four years between this and the last time I had her on stage. She sort of ended up as a fixed display piece in her default in my shelf, and I just couldnt find a proper enough setting before this.. and part of it is just that stern 1000 yard gaze.

The eye's while striking do limit the options... sort of like Emilia's defaults, there are circuimstances where they work, but outside of those they suffer a bit.  Here on the other hand they do compliment the theme, which is Harriet, and while going through these pictures again I cant help but think of one of her legendary quotes: "If you screw this up, I'll traumatize you so badly, you'll wet your knickers every time you see Mary Poppins. - Understood?"

@finnleo Yeah I totally get what you mean regarding Sinon photos. I don’t own her myself but see her every day as my boyfriend owns her. She’s gorgeous in person but he has such trouble with photos and outfits cause of the eyes. That’s part of why I’m so impressed with this set!

 

I do wonder sometimes if she just wasn’t popular or of all owners suffer the same photo dilemma so just don’t share her much.

mm.. I think its a combination of things I guess.

For starters the character, Who is not Asuna ... the GGO outfit, which is cool, but I do find the Alfheim Online version of her a bit more appealing, because who doesent like bow wielding catgirls...

in doll form her head sculpt at first glace just looks like a refreshed ddh02, so initial impressions arent going to be great, untill you spend some time with her, and see that she has some nice distinct features.

the default faceup also gives a bit of a headache due to the turqoise eyebrows, which only really go with the eyes and certain colored wigs. Even with this set, once you actually notice them they stand out.. but it works in favor of this setup since Harriet has darker eyebrows than her blonde hair ... (or so I recall)

bit of a shame I guess, but .. what can you do, some girls just dont get to be popular.

Wow, that's a nice trick. Now I understand why the shins have to do with the knee's folding. I've tried to do so with my f3 girls, but I think It's not possible without breaking something. Maybe your trick could help as well to my case.

Also, thank you for your photo tips. Now I'm really considering getting a tripod since my pulse sucks. Never realized it until now.

I did a quick comparison (did not have time for paint or build to scale) with the DD2 body still in this config, and taking off the outer shin piece of my DDS-f3:

It looks like the DD2's party trick thigh parts give the knee-joint that extra little bit of movement to let it fold out further from the thigh... also the actual shin rod on the DD2 bends just slightly adding to it. But just to clarify the possible difference.

Again a cheat really suitable for clothed applications, for obvious reasons.

And yea, tripods are probably one of the best upgrades you can get, and relatively cheap too (at least the ... I believe 25 euro one's I've had for years, that only now have started to show signs of issues, but still work).

I appreciate the inconvenience you took to show me this is possible. Thanks to this, I think my real problem was I wasn't brave enough to fold the legs like this. Maybe this fear was due to the fact I was trying to fold the DDdy thighs, asumming I was going to break something because of their curvy chubbiness. 

Besides, I discovered DD's without shins look like terminator and that could work for a badass cosplay. 

For a second I thought Kira was Milinda. Do you still have her?

If you mean the momoiro mambou semiwhite ddh06, that used to be with marionbearmaker, then yes I still have her. Been a year since the last photos.

The problems with having a near 50 head roster, if you try to feature everyone evenly they will only end up in pictures once a year if you only do a set every once a week, if even that .. heh.
