Eye-mod questions (head type)

Recommended Posts

Yumeiro

I've been playing with the idea to shell a character which often has half-lidded eyes.

So, to mod a Dollfie Dream head, with epoxy putty, would it be better (or "easier") to go with open-eyed heads or closed eyes?
And not having an airbrush, what color-matching method would you recommend?

(Also, I wouldn't mind a refresher on what sandpaper grit is recommended to start and finish with!)

I would say to go with closed eyes. When you mod eyes with epoxy, the most difficult part is to set the putty on the thin eyelids (sorry not sure if it's clear) from both side. At least if you use already closed eyes, the putty won't fall in the head and you'll just have to cut the part you want open afterward. Again sorry if i'm not clear.

Airbrush is actually the best method, you can find pretty chead one on amazon that works really well, I recommend you invest into one if you have money ^^

For sand paper I start with 600 grit, gradually increasing up to 2000.

Hope it helps!
