Smart doll head Parabox body hybrids?

Recommended Posts

Aurea_Arleigh

Hello again,

Trying to figure if there are any smart doll skin tones that match parabox's whitey body. I do like some of parabox's sculpts but wanted to see if Smart doll had one close to it for a hybrid??

And would the head to body ratio look weird on the overall doll?

Thanks for the info/help

The Obitsu and Parabox whitey skin tone is the same as Volks Flesh and Smartdolls Milk so you should have an easy match with those.  I'm not sure how the head would look on a smaller body but lots of DD heads look good on the MDD and Obitsu 40cm to 50cm doll bodies so I think it might be fine as long as you find a suitable wig.  Sometimes a longer or shorter wig can make a head look bigger or smaller so you can use that to kind of cheat on how the head will look on a certain body.

I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.

I find SmD heads look best on any Obitsu body larger than 45cm, so AP, Azone's Iris Collect series, Obitsu 50, Parabox 47,etc...

They work better than DD imo, because they're a bit smaller. I had Eiran, my Eiji, on a 50 for a while before I found a 55 (which I then made into a 60) to put him on. DD hands (which I've got on him in these pics) work really well with this hybrid if you go this route, especially for the boys. For some reason larger hands helped make the head look proportional to me. 😆

Awesome, now I know this may work if I can't find a faceup artist anytime soon. Thanks!

This also makes me feel good. Since I have a 47cm parabox body coming soon from japan 😄 Thanks!

Was it hard to adapt the head to the body?

Love the goggles!

Depends on your tolerance for springs. 😅

I disassembled the Obitsu neck connector and put the head on by following this tutorial:

http://blog.livedoor.jp/mimiwoo/archives/51569280.html

The Obitsu peg is larger than the original DD and SmD pegs, so you WILL need to warm up your Smartdoll or Dollfie's head with a hairdryer first to soften the vinyl enough to allow the peg to get in there. Alternatively, if you have a drill and some courage, you could just drill the neck hole wider. I've done both, either method works.

When they say "this is the most difficult step" in the tutorial, they mean it. It's not fun trying to balance the spring and the head for long enough to get the screw back in the neck connector, and on my first try, I only kept going with it because I knew it was possible. Don't give up! It's possible!

Thankfully, once it's done, you won't have to do it again unless you break the neck connector or decide to make another hybrid. It's designed to stay on the head pretty much permanently once it's installed, and you just pull the head off the neck to change clothes! Easy!

I've gone through that process a few times now, and what helps immensely is having a screwdriver with a magnetic tip, so it can hang on to the screw without it falling off while you're holding the head and spring together with your other hand.

My only qualm is that for some reason, my DD head is significantly more fiddly to get off the body than Mai's head (Azone type) or a Dollce head, and the range of motion for tilting the head around isn't anywhere as good.
