Adventures in anime wig styling!

I've been frankly terrified of modifying wigs since basically the moment I joined the hobby, but I got a wig styling bust like a year or so ago and I've been sloooowly getting more comfortable with styling wigs. Initially I just used steam, which worked okay for just taming bangs into an "M" shape.

Recently though I've been experimenting a little more with heat tools and gel to really go crazy with the ahoge and such.

This is my first real try, using this weirdly-sized wig that seemed sort of unsalvageable anyways... I went into styling this wig with the understanding that I might ruin it, so I chose a wig that was already busted 😭 I was very cautious using my flat iron, so I only used it on the ahoge and little side bits. I used Got2b glued to hold them together and I was quite impressed! It works great and doesn't dry sticky.

I think it turned out quite cute for a first try, actually! Sort of an alien antennae type vibe, but that worked out for the quirky doll it ended up going to.

This is my most recent attempt! This time I wanted to try to give the wig a little more volume with my flat iron, and it ended up turning into this scruffy lil thing! I'm still clearly a novice but I'm actually surprised at how decent these have turned out. Definitely nothing compared to the professionals but good enough for me lol

Next step is figuring out intake hair...

Wow your designs are amazing! I’m definitely part of the “too nervous to even try to pierce a doll’s ear” kind of people, so I’m happy to look at all the amazing stuff people come up with ^^
