Faceup guide video

I saw this and wanted to share! I used to do faceups and I recently bought a Baby Kumako but she is blank 😅 so I started trying to look up how to do the face again, especially anime style! This is so so good and it shows two beginners working with the pro to do very nice looking anime style faceups!

Some key points:

1. Lining in paint by using extender fluid and using a light color to start

2. Using craft swabs to clean up lines/mistakes

3. Using soft pastels to soften lines and add blush

4. Note how the pro’s paper looks - she is flicking little lashes on her paper first to determine the amount of paint/flow before applying to the doll, and it is very effective.

5. It looks scary at first!! But you can do it!! The girl on the right was very nervous and making mistakes but she followed the procedure and her face looked lovely at the end :)

This is a great confidence booster if you are nervous about doing your own faceups. It convinced me to buy some supplies and look forward to it!

Me too!! They make the hobby very approachable and interesting. I love seeing all the specials that get released in Japan too! One of the videos was a maid cafe for dolls and owners, and they make it look so classy! It’s a step up from a Denny’s doll meet lol

Adding another video tutorial for anime style faceups:

Key points:

1. You can start with watercolor pencils to sketch it out before you paint

2. You can remove pastel with kneaded eraser, paint/pencil with swap, correcting paint with damp brush

3. Keep sketching to perfect the symmetry before you move on.

4. Using extremely pigmented pastel saves on layers/clumping, blend with swabs
