Oculae Posted January 3 (edited) Hi all! As the proud owner of a Pear girl, I thought a thread of alternative clothing options for them would be a good idea, so I'm putting one together to help out those who have a Pear and those who plan on getting one! (...Mostly to help myself, though, because I don't have the money for Danny's small batch artisan made fat girl fits. 🤣) I'll start off with some Etsy shops that have stuff specifically made for Pear: EliteDollWorld has several cute casual options, such as pajama sets, leggings (straight leg and bellbottoms), cropped shirts, and skirts, mostly in solids with a couple printed fabrics. They're based in the US. Manuelaisme has underwear sets, bikinis, denim jeggings and skirts, a jumpsuit, shirts, a hoodie, and a dress that can be worn 4 ways. Again, mostly solid fabrics, with a couple of printed options. They're based in Canada. DollsOfMine just got their Pear, so they're releasing stuff a bit slower, so all they have right now is a few sock options, some underwear, and a knit vest, but they also make button downs, dresses, yoga sets, hats...a bunch of stuff, and as they redraft patterns they'll be releasing more of that for Pear. I'm very excited to get some hawaiian shirts for mine once they get those ready! They're based in the US. I've also looked around on FB and done some experimenting with my own Pear girl and found out that some sets from Volks fit, and that tops are generally much kinder than bottoms. The only bottom-covering outfit I could find was the Balloon Dress set, and only barely: I can't pull the skirt down too far, so sitting poses are a little risky. And the jeans that the set comes with don't fit at all! Good thing it looks fine without them: I did try the old Angel Philia trick of removing the head and bust to get skirts on, and that actually works quite nicely, as long as the skirt has an elastic waist and is already pretty long. Tailored and pleated skirts like in Volks's Lazuline Nadeshiko set will technically fit, but you can't get them closed in the back, and they gotta be longer than knee length to have a chance of covering a Pear girl's butt. The thinnest part of a Pear's waist is pretty high compared to a DD, so skirts made for other dolls sit waaaay higher on Pear. For giggles, I also tried out some pants made for SD13 boys, but no luck there at all. (SD17 is still a solid Maybe, though, so if anyone has a big boy and a Pear, let me know how the pants sharing situation there looks!) The good news is that most tops that fit DD L bust and DDdy are perfectly safe, as long as they can also fit Volk's resins. If it's only for DD it's usually tailored to fit a tighter waistline that Pear just doesn't have! Roomy is key here, so aim for comfy sweaters, loose shirts, kigurumis, coats, etc. Melody C's oversized tops and jackets fit great on Pear, so this holds true for third party clothes made for DD as well! There was a lot of speculation on whether 18 inch doll clothes would fit, and unfortunately, it's the same deal with them - tops only fit if they're roomy or built to stretch, and pants....generally don't fit at all. Pear hips are just too big. Skirts are usually too short, but you might have some luck there if you find a long one. And for those who already have SmDs and some clothes for them, Pear girls can share SmD specific wigs, shoes, short socks, and more size-agnostic accessories like jewelry and hair accessories. That's it. If anyone out here with a Pear finds more specific outfits that fit or storefronts that have Pear clothes, feel free to add on! I'd love to see what other options are out there that I haven't tried yet! Edited January 3 by Oculae 16 Please ping me when replying!
Tira Posted January 5 I do not have a Pear girl yet (I was hoping maybe last night, but they sold out so fast...) but Nine9Style has a bunch of oversized tops and outerwear that would probably work. Based on comparing the measurements, the Iplehouse EID guys are only a few centimeters bigger through the waist and hip, while the SID guys are smaller. So even for 70cm guy pants, it would be hit or miss. Something labeled "uncle" size would probably be a better bet than SD17.
Tippetarius Posted January 8 Did a little testing of what fits today with my pear girl, and I am happy to report that the Smart Doll white tiger kigurumi I have fits her perfectly. I swear though that thing is magical as it also fits a few of my 63cm male BJDs. So yeah if you happen to be lucky enough to have either of the SmD tiger kigurumis they fit the pear body really well. Also in the tried and works I tried a Iplehouse YID boy sized hoody, it was right length and size in most places and looked good on her. It was a bit snug at her tummy, but I feel some of my other looser and stretchyer YID boy shirts would work super well on this body. I have not tried any of my SID or EID sized clothing (male or female), however when I do I will report in what of that works. Also once I can post photos I will share some here to show fit.
teensybits Posted January 9 My friend was able to get her pear girl into one of the older Volks BTSSB collaboration sets (not the DSD releases) and it was super cute. The bloomers are too tight on her wondrous thighs but everything else was great.
Tira Posted January 22 Kit N Kat has a few patterns for Pear. My Little Doll Story only has one Pear pattern, but on their Instagram, they have pictures of the Pear doll modeling some of their Classic patterns, so that expands your options. From the Free Patterns list, the Oversized Crewneck, Oversized T-shirt, and the looser Brenton Shirt should all work, as they're larger than the Nice Shirt pattern is.
Tira Posted January 27 Sorry to double-post, but I now have a Pear girl of my own! You can see her here. I sewed her top using UnderOrange's Cozy Pajamas pattern. The skirt is from Volks' Basic Skirt Set. It's not a perfect fit, the top snap doesn't come close to closing, but the sweater hides it. It's snug, but it will fit over her thighs to put it on. I think it looks really cute on her - the length is good, it's not stretched out of shape, and it's actually seasonally appropriate (unlike the capris made for her).
3lysa Posted January 28 I'm just curious, there is somewhere a Pear body measurement chart?
BeyondTime Posted February 7 DollReMi offers a few pear outfits: https://www.dollremi.store/c/Smart Doll Pear Body Outfit The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? Heroin is illegal, Dollfie Dreams probably should be. “Empty wallets, full hearts.” That’s probably an apt description for the effects of DD addiction
PolitelyNefarious Posted April 6 (edited) Since the team has worked so hard to make Pear accessible to all of us (Thank you, CJ Team!), there is now a decent selection of basics for Pear and a number of patterns on Etsy just by searching. Not a lot of stylized clothes, but you should have no trouble in getting your girl some threads. Some more shops with pre-made or pre-order clothes for the list include: UrbanDollClothes DazzlingDollDesigns JodieCreations LuminariaDesigns TheDollClothier AngelMarieBoutique MysteriousDollWorld KawaiiCoreDolls LittleModel DollLuvrsDesign This isn't an all-comprehensive list; just shops that had a decent quantity of items / items that seemed well-finished. You'll probably find more treasures if you look. Side note; I had these elastic-waist shorts I bought secondhand that were originally from Melody C. They were advertised as SD13, but when I got them in-hand they were too big for my vinyl girls and some of my SD13 resin guys as well. (I still need to test them on the old Feeple60, which is thicker than some, and a good fit for most TTYA SD13) Guess who they fit perfectly? (Her shirt is a secondhand SD-size stretchy ribbed cotton, and fits all of my girls, including default DDDY. Sadly I don't know who made it- maybe CottonHoney or Doll Delights?) @Oculae It has been years since I've owned an Iplehouse SID body, but I have two other ladies- an Argonautica Plus Size body and a SartoriaJ Luthian Elf- who are SID-comparable, and Pear seems similar to their size. So I took the less stain-prone pair of their pants to see. I originally bought these as an 'SD16' female set for a Feeple65, who filled them out the best lengthwise. They are too long on my SID-size girls, but not in a way that hurts the style, and fit just right in the waist. They look to fit about the same on Pear. I've never owned an SID guy, but I've had several who were also comparable, and this pair of pants I bought from VikkiDollStore that fit beautifully, but were always so tight to shut that they strained the snap stitching. (Impldoll Star, SartoriaJ, Dollshe Classic, Soom MegaGem.) A generic 65-70 boy would be too slim; there's typically not much difference between their waist and the SD13 until a 'muscle' version comes out. ...Well. They're hers now. The length is almost perfect, and the waist seems like a good fit. It's not a large test, but it might be something. So it's really a challenge to find or sew good things that suit her. And some have met this challenge really well.😊
catalystscimitar Posted June 13 On the topic of loosely-fitting Volks stuff, I did find one set I already had that fit my pear SmD super cute! This is the Melancholy Tracksuit I had originally bought for my DDB before he was Kaito and it's meant to fit oversized on DD bodies. The shorts included in the set (obviously) didn't fit, but I was pleasantly surprised at how well the leg warmers and jacket fit (and zipped!) over her chest and backside. Add a pair of white boyshorts and you're good to go, lol

Pear should be able to wear bigger and stretchy SD13 tops, and SD17 tops should still fit oversized like they would on a default SMD, but the bottoms are a no-go; they're much too skinny. It is possible that stretchy bottoms might work if they were generous, but I don't have many to test this. 🤔 I do know that these specific sweatpants can stretch a crazy amount. I bought a white pair secondhand that were made for SD17 and they fit on my big SID and EID-sized guys despite having a much smaller base waist. The legs would be too long for Pear though. And just so that this all reads a little less nebulous... Here's Pear with Switch's 68 body, which fits SD17 perfectly. Her bottom and thighs are bigger than his. And here's Pear with SD13- male Feeple60 (Old), Feeple60 Moe, and Elfdoll Pinup respectively. She could wear any of their tops, given that they are either baggy or have some stretch. I realize that from the angle, the SD13 male might look close, but once again her waist, rear, and thighs are bigger. However she can wear three out of four SID-size bottoms I've tried (The fourth is black pleather and I'm not risking it), so if I were going to circumvent actual Pear clothes, I think I would stick with SID. I need a better understanding of how SD16 clothes are sized, as I've only owned one outfit with that label. SD17 doll clothes are typically male, and for dolls within the 65-70cm+ range. SD13 can be male or female, and is usually labeled or modeled accordingly. It is your 'average' 60cm BJD size. The waists in the pants are sometimes too big for classic SMD, but it's the size we use with DD and classic SMD most interchangeably. Hopefully this is helpful and not pretentious-sounding babble. 😓 @catalystscimitar It might be my computer, but I can't seem to view your photo. The Pear in your avatar is stunning though. Love that white hair against her dark brows! It is encouraging to know that oversized stretchy Dollfie clothes can fit too- that would be around SD13 female size if it's fit for DDB. It can zip too? Sweetness! Edited June 16 by PolitelyNefarious 1

I just need help with pants tbh, I’ve got a good handle on tops but bottoms are killing me. I have a limited budget so I tend to peruse Dollyteria or Manda for clothes, but if pear really is too special size wise, then I guess I’ll have to save up for Etsy 😭. PolitelyNefarious Posted July 19 @Courtmom You're spot on. 'SID' is short for 'Senior Iplehouse Doll'. (The size chart is towards the very bottom) Unfortunately for anything under $50, Etsy might be your best bet. Clothes and Iplehouse-size dolls don't pop up often on DollyTeria or Mandarake, and they're expensive to begin with. But if you were having trouble finding something specific for Pear, like a fancy corset or a pair of business slacks, you might be able to find it made for SID. The good news with Etsy is that it has options. If you didn't mind very basic leggings, Elite Doll World has some for around $13, and the 'pants' start at $18. If you just search 'Smart Doll Pear' and set the results from 'low to high' both in the general search and in shops, you will see that a number of shops are priced similarly for their basic bottoms. A few have jean prints, if you'd like her to have a generic 'skinny jean' look. There are some shorts, a couple of more wrap / dhoti-style bottoms, a plethora of skirts... jean and slacks-style pants seem to start more at the $35- $40 mark. Which is why my Tart doesn't have any yet. 😅 I need to dedicate and plan some budget space for it, as I'm picky. I hear you on shopping on a budget though, and making it stretch, especially with DollyTeria. My dolls are all in various states of unfinished because I don't have enough budget right now to save for planned vinyl + the things they need.

But honestly at the same time my brain wonders if there is a point wasting $ for something that may or may not fit in the waist 🤔 my biggest issue is that I don’t really want leggings for the pear project I’m working on, but also spending $40ish on a single pair of pants isn’t even something I spend on myself 😅
PolitelyNefarious Posted July 19 @Courtmom I hear you, but in that case, it sounds like your alternative would be making them yourself unless something came up secondhand cheap enough. 🥺 The price for both SID and SMD Pear pants is about the same. Clothing for them has always been expensive, because it's custom or straight from the maker. Though honestly, $18-$35 for SD-scale pants is average. If you want to go the making route, there are plenty of patterns for sale, but you could just as well visit CJ directly, as Danny and crew have generously released the patterns for the jeans, cargos, and capris in Pear size to be freely used. The things you are watching for measurement-wise are primarily the waist, hips, and thighs, since you would have to hem the legs on anything taller than her. There is no definitive measurement chart for Pear that I've been able to find, just this 'not 100% accurate' one made by Reddit user LulaMcqueen: I did test it with my measuring tape for sewing, and Tart's measurements for waist, hips, and thighs do line up with this chart, according to where the lines on it are placed. Which baffled me because the male SID measurements for waist, hips, and thighs are 22.7/29.5/16.6 on the Model (thinner) body, and 24cm/29.3/18.4cm on the Muscle, while female is 19.6/29.6/17 for the old body, and 19.3/27.8/15.4cm on the new. Yet all of my SID-size pants have fit her fine. I'm wondering now if my resin ladies are closer to EID (Elder Iplehouse Doll), but I owned an actual SID woman for a bit, and they are definitely around her size. I know two out of three pants were fitted for SID. 🤔 Obviously I need to keep testing, but... money. Going off of Pear's measurements (25 waist, 35 hips, 19 thigh) we can compare with bodies of the sizes you mentioned to have some idea: For 75, Soom Idealian is a fairly standard model. His measurements are 25/32.5/19.5. So that might work. I owned an Idealian briefly, and bought Idealian-size outfits for my EID-scale blokes (5th Motif, Dollshe 28, Bishonenhouse, Sartoria J), and the waists look like they should be close-ish to Pear, but I never tried them due to the length. I do have a pair of white pants in that size if you'd like me to try them on her. Just be prepared to hem the legs for sure, and pay at least as much. You might be able to find stuff cheaper on TaoBao? I know TaoBao is where a number of the vendor outfits come from. But then you'd be paying a proxy to get them, so it would still be a matter of saving, though you'd potentially be able to get more for your money. 😅 Pear just isn't a standard size, unfortunately. Comparably, we have Telesthesia's 75 man at 22/32/19.5, Dollzone at 24.5/32.5/19.5, and DFH at 25.5/32/19.4. There are of course more makers, but they largely ballpark within these measurements, which is why many 75cm clothes are just tagged 'Idealian' for size from the vendors. Sadly, I don't think 70 is going to fit. That's SD17, the standard for which is 20.8/24.5 at the higher part, 27 at the low/16. Most 65-70 dolls are in that range for ease of dressing. For example, the Switch boy I pictured above is on their 65 body (19.8/26/15.5), but even their 70 body is too small at 21/28.3/17.2. I do own multiple dolls in this size, and they can all share pants with each other, but could never share pants with Pear as their behinds and thighs are far skinnier. (Switch Attractive, Dollshe Pure, Angelsdoll 70, Fairyland Feeple65, Akagidoll 65, Dream of Doll Teen, Soom Super Gem) The hard thing with a doll outside of standard sizes is that you are making an additional financial commitment in getting them. The cost of nobody making a vinyl doll in this size before = there aren't years-worth of pre-existing clothes for her. I usually buy my own clothes from charity shops and clearance; the dolls' wardrobe is definitely more expensive than mine. But it's handmade in batches, so that factors into the price too. So just to clarify, 'Standard' BJD sizes all start off of Volks, since they were the first: Dolls from other companies only become the standard for a size if Volks didn't make something in that size first, or at least regularly. They are considered their own category, and aren't typically catered to within the YoSD-to-SD17 offerings at most BJD stores. But they sometimes have their own sections, or you'll find a vendor who offers outfits from makers who cater to them. Since SD17 is the biggest Volks went, SID / EID / Idealian set the standard for their sizes. In the opposite direction we have Pukifee / Lati Yellow and PukiPuki/OB11/Lati White, because Volks' smallest dolls aren't standard releases in the same way YoSD is. SD13 / SDGr female (SD Graffitti) is roughly the same size as a Dollfie Dream or Classic Smart Doll. (The waists tend to be a little bigger than DD/SMD, but it varies) And you can see that SD17 isn't that much bigger around. While clothing prices might mediate a bit over time after the hype for Pear dies down, it seems more likely that they're set where they're going to stay, as they're right in line with regular pricing for other BJD clothes at this scale. You could always wait and watch the secondhand markets on Facebook too, but if you want specific pants for your Pear, you might be better off just buying them, as there aren't any 'economy' substitutes. Which is also why Tart doesn't have her cargo pants yet. Nefarious needs to save up. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
Shiiza Posted August 28 This is my pear girl in a random assortment of SD13 clothing. All of the stuff is rather stretchy, and the shirt I think is an SD13 boy top from Nine9Style. I didn't have any troubles getting her into this outfit, even buttoning the cardigan wasn't too bad in spite of my dexterity issues. SD17 boy pants didn't fit sadly, and the SD17 button up shirt I tried on her technically fit, but it didn't look good. It fit in the chest area but her shoulders were far too narrow and it just didn't look right. Owning a pear girl is making me want to commit fully to getting back into sewing haha.
