TheGardenGnome Posted July 18, 2024 I'm struggling to attach a resin “boy” part (it was sold as “Tommy’s special parts” on Quarantotto, which really cracked me up) to an Angel Philia I lower torso. I tried hot glue and it really didn’t work at all. Putty only worked if I used a lot (and it looked really ugly around the edges). I even tried E600, which worked for weeks until it came loose a few days ago. (Shockingly the E600 didn’t hurt the blushing on the vinyl torso which surprised me) I’m most likely going to try E600 again, but part of my initial problem was there isn’t a great way to clamp the pieces together… Any suggestions for the best adhesive to use or even if there’s a quick acting adhesive that pairs well with E600? Obviously I’m OK with something permanent 🙂, I just could use some ideas.
Monty Posted July 18, 2024 These parts are usually magnetic on a resin doll so doing the same was my first thought. Is it possible to fix magnets to the part and torso? It might be necessary to carve a hole/recess for the magnet to sit in so there isnt a gap from where the magnets are raised. *twitter*instagram*art*

Check to see if the part is magnetic already, and if it's not, Monty's suggestion seems sound to me. The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? Heroin is illegal, Dollfie Dreams probably should be. “Empty wallets, full hearts.” That’s probably an apt description for the effects of DD addiction

Thank you for the suggestion, I’ll take a look later! I did look at magnets, but the ones I have definitely would need a recess carved (they’re thin magnets but not that thin)… the piece also curves at the base so it fits decently snug to the lower torso but squeezing a magnet in between definitely leaves a gap. I also worry about the thinness of the softskin vinyl and if carving could damage the structural integrity— however, I have a spare H lower torso, so I might use that as a tester and see! 😄 10 minutes ago, BeyondTime said: Check to see if the part is magnetic already, and if it's not, Monty's suggestion seems sound to me. I don’t think it’s magnetic already (it was part of an unpainted resin kit)— but I’ll double-check later tonight! Thank you both for the advice!

Once you have a magnet inside the "special" you can put the other magnet inside the torso, and fix it in place with blu-tack if needed. With neodymium magnets, they are strong enough to easily work through the vinyl, so you shouldn't need to cut or carve. The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? ohnoaiwa Posted July 19, 2024 I agree with the magent idea! if it were me I would carve a recess for the magnet into the special part and have a strong enough magnet on the inside of the torso. I feel like resin might be easier to fix than vinyl if something goes amiss? also I would love to see pictures of the end result, this sounds so interesting lol
Sebby Posted July 19, 2024 The magnet idea is a good solution I think, you can get pretty strong but small magnets for in the torso, then the one in the part wouldn't have to be too big/thick. It would also allow for some fun placements for sh*ts and giggles. :'D

I’ll certainly give it a try once I get up the courage to sand a place for a magnet in the piece 🤣
Oculae Posted July 19, 2024 If you get round disc magnets you don't have to sand - a drill works wonders! I drill holes for magnets in resin all the time. 1 Please ping me when replying!
ragnamuffin Posted July 19, 2024 I don’t have anything to add, but I saw these for sale earlier this year and thought they were hilarious. I really hope they offer them again so I can pick one up!

Yes, resin is easy to drill, and you can use a Pin Vice drill to minimize the risk of any damage. I use JB Kwik-Weld epoxy, and that should fix the magnet in place unless someone has a better suggestion. You'll be putting a little bit of iron into his, erm, part... 1 The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? Thank you so much for the advice, everyone!! I finally had the courage (and free time 😝) to start on this last weekend— it ended up being so much easier/simpler than I expected once I got started The pin vice drill worked great and the magnets seem like they’ll hold very well— I ended up attaching them with kwik-weld epoxy (thank you for that recommendation too, BeyondTime!!) Right now the “special” (lol) is hanging out on a spare torso until I pull my guy apart to put the magnet inside his torso— but I’m really excited that I can switch his parts around now too 😉
