We'll continue to attend doll meets and any other gatherings where dolls will be welcome.

Reina was a huge hit at yesterday's doll meeting. We're getting better at putting together notice me outfits 😆.

Next up will be Kirika Towa Alma at the UK BJDCon 🧝‍♂️.

I have two dolls on layaway with Denver Doll, one is a "last chance" purchase and the other is a preorder. The last chance girl is blank so she will be my first face up attempt. The second one is a fullset pre-order that I was obsessed with.

 

I also want to get my first Dollfie this year- the Sakura Miku that goes on preorder in a couple of days.

I thought 2025 would be quiet but it's not turned out that way.

Miku NT is currently standing next to me. She's one of my favourites - I love her wonky eyes and she's very distinctive. I'll probably pre-order Sakura too. After all we have two Rins and two Kirikas.

I plan on getting this and this. Not sure who she will be. Mind you l am also going to get the MDD 2.0 small bust and see if it fits.

Sakura Miku is now pre-ordered. I worry about her pleather, but we need more Mikus.

Aaargh, somebody brought my grail to UKBjdCon, and now I want her more than ever. So she'll probably appear sometime this year. She will be a surprise for Towa's 5th birthday in October. She does kind of look like a relative of Towa too.

After the success of the Shin Sato stock trading bot I'm now working on another project. YouTube recommended me Ash Again (VTuber Gwar Gura's masterpiece of a graduation song) which led to the algorithm recommending Neuro-sama's cover of the same song, which lead to me realising Neuro and Evil are AI VTubers.

After obsessing over how Neuro and Evil work, last night I had a huge breakthrough and I'm hoping I can soon unveil Misaki.AI. My little tan MDD is already chatting away, so all I need to do is to convert my speech to code and her output back into speech.

Welp, add me to the Sakura Miku pre-order tally. Her estimated delivery date coincides nicely with my birthday and Christmas, so I got the green light to order her as my birthmas gift.

Asuna and I have an awesome new doll-related project in the works. The proof of concept has been a success and tonight we rebuilt the guts of the beast.

An unrelated project is to buy Rin a wig so we can complete a cosplay project.

I kind of want to buy a DDH-11 and DDH-03, but it seems like it is difficult to find 03 now

DDH03 is a standard head, even though it isn't in stock right now in the Japanese store that shouldn't stay like this for long.

DDH-11 is exclusive to D'Coord. I don't think you can buy it blank even. DDH-03 used to be part of Dream Choice but was removed from the lineup years ago. You can only get it blank on the website, but I think they're phasing out the older heads. They don't even sell it blank in store anymore.

That would be a damn shame, I think DDH03 is one of the nicest sculpts ... although that might be bias on my side. I don't see a lot of 03 out in the wild, so I wonder if the sculpt isn't that popular.

Definitely. I think it’s the nicest of heads 01-05. It did seem to be popular back in the day, but I haven’t seen it out in the wild lately either.

So, how are things going?

• Still need to do more faceups
• DDP body obtained
• I still need those two SW MDD bodies, plus at least two more in flesh due to floating heads I ended up getting in the first half of the year. OTOH, I do have a full Asa-chan frame, so leg shells and a set of arms would be enough for one body.
• White body is out. The white head will be used for a doll wearing a white body suit and some black things, so instead I need a SW body. The head will still be white tho.
• I need two more SW DD bodies, and DDH-05 and DDH-06 heads in SW to go with them. I picked up one SW DD3 body earlier this year, but that turned out to be a Miku body stripped of the Miku-specific bits (hands, upper arm shell that has Miku's number) that had a full Asa's House frame. I later found some Snow Miku hands, but need new arms due to the elbows being cracked and them being two right arms. Also need a DDH-09 in SW + Miku outfit that comes with wig and eyes to make my own custom Miku.
• Extra flesh head for DDdy body (that Mandarake listed as DD) that I picked up late last year.
• More footwear (still).
• silver ears + kyubi tails for DD
• 2x whitey 1/6 heads
• Build ship bits of Sendai (it's a resin kit).
• Two more Azone doll bodies needed, by preference at least one without her default outfit.

And how bad did things get out of hand?

• I have eight Volks dolls that are more or less completed, and nine more whose outfit I have without having all of the body. 
• I'm up to 12 Obitsu/Azone/Parabox dolls + a floating head + two grails that need purchasing.
• I now have two 1/6 Obitsu bodies + 3 waiting for shipping + 2x Azone 1/6 bodies that need heads.
• 1/12 dolls are fortunately lagging at only two (they're too fiddly).
• But! I bought an Obitsu 11 based doll.

Well, that sounds like I have my addiction everything in control, really...

I don't think things have been too out of hand this year (so far). There have been a few Azones but so far only 3 DD: Sakura Miku (still on preorder), Fumika Sagisawa and Fern.

I was looking for Fumika for a long time and I obtained her for a decent price.

I'm now financing doll stuff out of everyday savings. This is working well and it's surprising how quickly counting pennies adds up. For example 25% of Fumika's purchase price was financed by buying a discount railcard (saves 33% every time I take off peak trains) and using a cashback site to get 10% off my Barcelona hotel costs. Most of the savings are from keeping a close eye on everyday expenditure. I also avoid unnecessary expenditures. For example not choosing a seat and not buying priority boarding on the Barcelona flight paid for half of Hana's new Volks outfit.

We could still get ruined if Volks release anyone new in the winter (especially if they're a pair). But they seem obsessed with Vocaloid rerereleases so we should be OK.

Next priority is to chase Dollfie Project and get a refund if they can't deliver our order. I would also like two of an MDD outfit so my twins can really twin.

Going to events has been a lot of fun this year. I've been to three doll conventions, four meetups, one photography workshop and five movie/anime conventions. It has been hard on the dolls (mostly due to staining) and my camera's not looking in great shape after dropping it in Barcelona. But it might be due to the airport scanner. Who knows.

I am so over the moon to be able to add this beautiful girl to my collection, as this finally brings me full-circle in the hobby (Sasara was the first doll I ever fell in love with and introduced me to the world of DDs and BJDs).

I'm still trying to keep my low/no-buy goals due to Current Affairs happening here in the States, so I'm not entirely sure when a body of her own is going to be a feasible purchase, but that is now added to the formal goals list as a top priority purchase!

End of Q3 updates!

We're in the middle of buying a house as we speak, so I will finally have room to sew and paint faceups again! Faceups may have to wait until spring, but I'm excited to start making kimono for my girls this winter. Sasara is still body-less, but I'm hoping that the finances will work out for me to get her one in the new year (and that Volks will release the 2.0 version of the dynamite body).

I also have Sakura Miku on pre-order and I'm expecting her to arrive sometime around Christmas. With that, I'm officially committed to no new girls for the rest of this year. Fun stuff!

In addition, I've got characters taking shape for my floating resin heads. I have a few more existing resin obligations to finish before I can start working on my new ones, but I'm hoping I'll be able to finish off my collection next year and enjoy it as-is for a while before I consider adding more.

Well well well, lookee here. It's almost the end of the year, how much did I get done? Well...

● I did give a faceup to my OT Minifee, but I only kept it for a few months before wiping it rather impulsively. It wasn't that bad, but it definitely wasn't perfect, either. I'm keeping her the same character I originally painted her as, but I think I will lean into the more traditional, semi-real makeup look often seen on MNFs, rather than trying to match those features with my art style. 

● Sewing, I... haven't done a lot of. Or any, if I'm being fully honest. I did, however, draft a dress pattern and dress form for one of my new dolls who doesn't have a ton of patterns available for it.

● Ludovica now actually has several new wigs: a really nice quality auburn For My Doll one, plus two cheaper but still rather nice orange ones from Aliexpress. (A bob and a longer one, the latter being the most similar to her original wig.)

● Chibi Ludovica, unfortunately, was a little bit neglected this year so far, and still has her decayed faceup. Touching her up will be my first project in the spring. Her faceup currently is still mostly okay, which is why she was so easily forgotten about when...

I acquired two new dolls!

○ I bought a DDP instead of a DDS, though I waffled back and forth a lot on which one I wanted. Ultimately, it came down to finding a purchasing a nice, decently priced body on Mandarake and hustling to get it shipped before the first (of many) tariff debacles went down. Kuru (SW, DDH-12) was completed on August 13, 2025.

○ I also, after lots of searching, acquired a Mimi Rabbit body to go with the Amber head I had purchased (both Imomodolls) with the intention of shelling a dear OC of mine. (well, technically two, but we'll get to that 😜) After dealing with some setbacks while painting Kuru (that were easily solvable, thankfully), I decided that I would comission a faceup for this doll. And even though I could have done a decent job myself, I'm very glad I did pay a professional because Mewdo/Calicula turned out stunning! My main goal for the rest of the year is to make her a wig and at least one outfit.

Boy, that was a lot. If you read all this, I appreciate it, but yeah, that's about where I'm at. The year's not over yet, though!
