Volks Attending Dolly Day in Barcellona

The event will be on Sept 6th 2025 and it will mark their first in person attendance at a European event.

I might be interested in this if anyone else is going. Not sure where tickets are obtained from.

I have fond memories from Barcelona. I lived there for a good portion of 2015. It's a fabulous city.

Excited to see them attending an event in Europe. It's too far away from me to go, but maybe next time!

I have now bought a ticket for Dolly Day. It's the 10th anniversary of when I lived in Barcelona. Plus the event is being held at Sants station - it was where I had my first ever meal in the city. So clearly the gods are conspiring to make me attend.

I haven't yet booked a flight or accommodation but I'll do it closer to the event.

I think Shin Sato will be attending with me 😁. Towa's too precious to leave the house and everybody else has stuff that's too easy to fall off their outfits (thinking of Rem/Ram/Rin/Miku).

If anyone else is attending then let me know (humans or dolls)!

By September I will have learnt enough Japanese to scold the Volks staff on not making enough plush snakes 🐍!!!!

Since I haven’t see it posted here, Volks have linked a Google survey from their event Instagram where attendees can say what kinds of things they’re hoping to see at the event.

I’m sure they’ve been suggested already but some ideas besides standard item sales could be SD one-offs, Dcoords and/or Best Selection releases, although I have no idea how likely those are since it’s their first time doing this.

I told them to bring some rare stuff. I forgot about the D'Coords. They should bring lots of tan D'Coords!

I also forgot to tell them to announce DD Ririsa at the event. They simply have to turn her into a DD.

I always had in mind to pay Barcelona a visit, therefore I'm definitely coming! 🤩

Would you be able to buy limited full sets there? 🤔

I believe they usually bring limited collaboration models. I thought they brought Mikus, Ciels and maybe Rem/Ram to the LA convention last year.

I think they have a stockpile of older releases. I'm pretty sure that's how I picked up Rem and Ram last year.

My Shin Sato is hoping they bring some of the highly sought after SD Lolita dresses from the last Dolpa.

I'm so glad Volks is coming to my country! I'll be attending with Linda, my meltingpot MDD. Got the hotel, ticket and flights. I'll flight back home sunday at 6am flight, so short stay in Barcelona buy worth the travel.

My latest plan is to bring Ciel to Barcelona. She's easier to replace in case of lost luggage etc.. Also I think she'll look really cool in Barcelona photoshoots, especially if I can find a lamppost to put her on.

Dolly Day should hopefully be a lot of fun. UKBjdCon earlier this year was really great.

OK it's official... Ciel and I will be attending Dolly Day.

We're going to Barcelona for a week. That should be enough time to do a lot of awesome photoshoots and of course attend Dolly Day.

It almost cost more to take a suitcase than it did to book my flight 🙄.

Ciel's head will be travelling in hand luggage and she'll be wishing her body goes missing with my luggage so she can have a brand new 2.0 body.

We're staying close to the venue in case there is doll buying and we need to take the haul back to the hotel. There might of course be the chance to acquire Fern, but it would be awesome if Volks brought some tan D'Coords with them 🥰.

If anyone else is thinking of attending the hotels are quite pricey over the time of the event, but later in September is even more expensive for some reason (maybe the start of the new football season).

Dolly Day mini-update:

Volks have confirmed they will be bringing grails to Barcelona. I saw a post on insta. There is no news on who they might bring. My guess is Rem/Ram, Kaito, previous Vocaloids and probably a few SD from the back catalogue. Maybe Ciel and I will be overwhelmed and end up with another Shin Sato 😲.

There will be a lottery for the chance to buy (real life clickwar lol). They will only take payments via PayPal.

This is what I do to keep them safe during travels. 
 

I pad the top with tissue paper. I usually  pack each one in a box that is half as wide, but this time I brought a total of seven of them to Resin Rose so I needed to get creative about space.

Bodies can be replaced, but if the heads got lost, even if I bought a new one, it would not be the same. 

So if anyone's attending Dolly Day and hasn't seen the news Volks are running a lottery for the chance to win the chance to buy a doll. As far as I am aware the only vinyl dolls on offer are Sakura Meekoos. I already have her on pre-order.

Most of the lottery dolls are one off SD.

I'm not sure how the lottery works in terms of what happens if you're only interested in a particular doll.

Thanks! I guess given our luck in Volks lotteries it's all academic anyway. But really my tribe just want to get their vinyl hands on those SD lolita outfits.

Ciel is all dressed for Dolly Day. We've gone with a Volks outfit because Volks. It's kind of retro but I think they'll be impressed with our spin on an old classic.

I have all for the party,  its a bit disapointing only one DD, and miku again but im  going try for her.  Im going whit kaito this year. 

I thought I was safe from any real lottery investment until I saw they had an SD17 Reisner and was like "... goshdiddlydarnit 🙃"

I will be bringing at least one DD, but still on the fence about whether I'm bringing anyone else and if so who 🤔

You guys should organize a DollDreaming meetup while you're there!

I'm staying quite near to Estacio de Sants. I've not yet found the Dolly Day venue because Sants is once again a massive building site lol. I've just been for a look around. Sadly all the eateries I loved to regularly go to when I lived here are now gone. I settled for Taco Bell because... there's somebody with purple hair here.

If I don't catch up with anyone before the event then I'll be easy to spot. Or rather my doll will be easy to spot... she'll be wearing the very distinctive red wig as seen in the photo below.

We do also have a very big surprise. It appears there was a stowaway in my hand luggage and we made a very very very last minute decision to bring two Dollfies. Mostly I think it's because they realised they can get their heads signed by one of the Volks humans who will be attending the event.

There are also two Azone Pureneemo ladies in waiting: Maya and Mia. I took Maya because she has the red outfit for this year's red theme. Mia is flying the flag for London's Fashion Doll scene (and I have a matching t shirt).

Here's Ciel. Tomorrow we'll attempt a gothic photoshoot in the old city. She's unscathed after her trip in hold luggage... I did wrap her in about 100 Km of bubble wrap lol. I took her because her outfit is a good match for the city. I was originally going to bring Shin Sato but she's now been elevated to grail hood. So she's way too valuable to take anywhere.

Awesome. We'll look out for you. I also have my MDD Hana with me. She's kind of distinctive and has the (●´ω｀●) head. She looks like below, although she may or may not be wearing this outfit. She will be wearing this baby Fern wig though.

Ciel is in a bad way due to the stain monster and also her wobbly leg finally fell off. I'm hoping she'll recover in time. Thankfully I brought the destainer cream with me. The heat here should allow it to destain quite quickly. I feel really sorry for her, but she was actually recognised by somebody, who pointed out the moon to us! So that cheered her up a lot.

Here's a mini review of Dolly Day Red Barcelona 2025.

tldr; It was a good event and Barcelona is an absolutely fantastic location for doll photography. If anyone fancies a European vacation then Dolly Day Green will be held in 2027.

I did briefly meet @Singer Yuna at the event. I also met a member of DoA and a couple more DoA members recognised my dolls. Too bad nobody else joined our mini doll meet before the event because the early evening light was truly fabulous around the beach and harbour:

I (and almost everybody else I spoke to lol) was too late to buy a VIP pass so we had to queue up and hope everything good was not sold out. Incidentally I bought the event ticket way back in January.

By the time I reached the Volks stand there wasn't much there. I thought at first their stuff was still in customs, but it turned out most of the stuff had been sold already. All the SD standard models sold. I'm not sure what else they had. I think the smaller (YoSD?) stuff sold as did two of the four MDD bodies. There was less interest in the heads. I think they had a few Volks News but these were snapped up by people wanting something they would autograph [they would only sign Volks stuff]. In general Volks were very much focused on the resin side.

Fortunately I bagged Ciel and Hana a Volks outfit each. The outfits are somewhat matching and are perfect for wearing in Barcelona. I have warned Ciel it will be a stain monster. She's already so badly stained from her default outfit I don't think she cares anymore. I might get her a new body then keep her old body for events. Having said that benzoyl peroxide + hotel hairdryer has been an impressive destainer combo.

The shopping in general was pretty good although a lot of stuff was expensive. I found a lot of stuff on the Dolls.Moe stand. Best find was the Volks Blue Label white socks with the blue laces which was hidden below a load of other outfits and stuff. They also had a lot of Pureneemo stuff which is not a common sight outside of Japan. I bought Maya a new body because I broke her next at the vampire expo a few weeks ago. I spent quite a bit on their stand but I'm not too sure how much a Pureneemo body is anyway. It's a top of the range one though. Too bad the Hello Kitty Licca Chan had sold by the time I got round to actually buying stuff.

We now have a load of accessories that will come in useful. I also felt sorry for the Volks unsold bikini so bought it for Towa. I also picked up a SD bag which was really useful for carrying my pair of very sleepy dolls back to the hotel. We went back to the hotel via Placa Espanya for a massive pizza and a curiously disappointing beer.

Paying for stuff was easy as my credit card has worked OK. Volks only accepted PayPal which was a little confusing. My account didn't support EUR but thankfully they understood enough English so that I could pay in the equivalent JPY.

I didn't win the Volks SD lottery or the raffle for an MDD. At least that saved 1300 Euros not buying a SD. The one I wanted was one of the more popular Baby the Stars Shine Bright ones. I talked to a guy who won one of the 4 Sakura Mikus on offer [I already have her on pre-order]. A human at the event had one of the Baby the Stars Shine Bright outfits on and a matching SD. I guess that's why they're so popular.

One SD lottery doll didn't have any entrants and I don't know if they managed to find anyone who wanted to buy her.

Volks had trouble with customs or something but as far as I'm aware the only things that didn't make it to the convention were the SD for the lotteries. So presumably they would have put them on display if they had arrived in time.

There was a good display of older dolls (mostly resins).

There were a lot of DD and SD there but I don't know if Volks being there was a factor in this. Somebody had both Rin and Len. Nobody had a DD-H-21 so Hana was the only (●´ω｀●) there. I can't remember seeing a Miku, which was highly unusual. Most DD and MDD there were customs. I think the best DD I saw was a DDdy Rin Tohsaka. Oh and there was a Yayoi who looked absolutely amazing in the My Dearest Vampire outfit.

There were very few SmD. Maybe DC has yet to crack the EU market.

One of the vendors had a dolly daycare centre so I dropped off Ciel for a while. She had a good chat with a Sasara.

As far as the humans went it was all a bit socially awkward (well it was a doll convention). It wasn't always apparent who spoke what languages. People here generally don't know I'm not from round here.

There were a few backdrops for photos but they weren't as good as the UK BjDCon. Having said that I'm greatful that I didn't have to spend 30 odd Euros on going to the actual Park Guell!

Actually the hotel itself was also a good backdrop. It has a spaceship theme and everything is space related.

Hana: if any hoomans are reading this then check out volks_dollfie_events on insta because they feature a photo of me (●´ω｀●).

Volks really adored Hana, and thought her name badge was super cute. She then proceeded to fall flat on her face. Never mind the previous day she had been balancing on tiny poles in downtown Barca.

Ciel during the Volks Q&A session. Unfortunately the sound wasn't very loud so I couldn't hear too well. But if I understand rightly then Volks is a family firm and there were 4 siblings at the event. I might have got that all wrong though. It was all a bit fluffy and I don't remember anyone asking thought provoking questions on topics such as staining, quality control (i.e. wigs) and of course why there's no Volks EU. But who knows, maybe Volks might be encouraged by this event and try expanding more into the European market.

I think there were two humans from the PR department and of course kuroneko Komame. Their chief makeup artist was also there and she signed Ciel's paperwork for us with a kawaii little doodle.
