Kemonomimicry Posted December 28, 2024 (edited) For my first 1/6, I got myself Miyu, from Vampire Princess Miyu. Come to think about it, perhaps this is the doll that first drew me into looking into fashion dolls... She comes in a plastic box covered by a white cardboard sleeve: The clear plastic doesn't like time: It had been visible in the auction pictures, but seeing the colour myself kinda scared me. Fortunately, all is alright below that: She comes with her flute (crappily rendered in painted white metal), a ribbon for her leg, and a pre-tied ribbon for her hair, plus instructions: I didn't bother putting the ribbons on as I'll be upgrading her body later. Behold, Miyu!!! The outfit is quite good, the body less so. For some reason both her legs are turned to the right permanently, and her skin colour is too dark (it's not yellowed; below her clothing it's the same shade). As for her head: Not bad. She smiles too much for a proper Miyu, but unlike some other Takara anime dolls they got the eye shape pretty much right, and also did quite the good job on her hair. To be continued later, as I'll be upgrading her to a Obitsu body next year. Edited December 28, 2024 by Kemonomimicry
Kemonomimicry Posted December 17, 2025 Almost a year later, and I finally have her on a new body, an Obitsu 26 M. I also tried a Obitsu 24, but it was too short at the legs (Miyu's short kimono shows a lot of leg, so anything that's not clearly above the knees is wrong). Her head sits kinda loose, but the largest adapter was too large for her neck hole. I reused all her clothes, even the gauze-like thing that serves as her panties. The instructions for tying the ribbon on her leg suck, they basically miss an essential step to keep the ribbon from sliding off and it took me over an hour to figure it out. Also, the ribbon is too wide and kinda stiff, which did not help matters in making the final knot. The instructions for her hair ribbon show something that is outright impossible on the actual doll: slipping the end of the ribbon under the tie holding her sidetail together at the end - on the actual doll this is a hard plastic piece and not an elastic, so there's no way to slip the (oversized) hair ribbon under it. I ended up stuffing it between her hair. Pictures will follow later, as light conditions currently are not optimal here. I also still need to figure out how she can actually hold her flute, the diameter is too small for the Obitsu grabbing hands.
Kemonomimicry Posted December 18, 2025 Behold, Miyu! That ribbon is huge... Although Miyu being Miyu, I'd rather expect something like this: Flute playing: (her previous body has been possessed by a Shima and is goading her into doing something) (probably it's gloating about how she's about to have something terrible happen to her) (this is where the Shima starts screaming as it ignites) (one thing about Miyu is that she tends to not clean up very well after herself, preferring to disappear mysteriously) (which may result in) (I imagine they discuss about possible scenarios explaining the dead doll body on the ground, although Sumire may also be going "It wasn't me!") 1
Tasuke Posted December 18, 2025 (edited) I Upgraded all Eleven of my Sixth-Scaled Charadolls to the OBITSU 26 a Year or two ago. For the Girls whose heads would fit Loosely or wouldn't Securely Plug to any OBITSU Peg; Wrapping the closest-fitting Peg (After Installation to the Body) with a PVC Electrical Tape (3M SCOTCH "Super 35" Your Choice of Colors; I Use White) with sufficient Revolutions to Build up a Layer that allows the Head to Press on over and Hold Snugly in Place. This has Worked like a Charm for a Wide Variety of Makes and Ages of Charadoll Heads; From mid-1990's TAKARA "Tenchi Muyo!" Girls to an Early-2010's AZONE Pure Neemo ("Squid Girl") ( I Have even managed to Adapt a pair of Solid Plastic Figure Heads to Fit to the OBI 26 Convincingly ) Edited December 18, 2025 by Tasuke
