Where the heck to buy 9-10 Wigs?

Recommended Posts

So it turns out Dollbots have absolutely gigantic heads. Like, all their official wigs are 9-10. Right now my girl Compass is rocking a Taeyang wig, but I do want that wig to eventually go back to its original owner. Does anyone know where I could purchase 9-10/Pullip wigs from anywhere? I'm looking for a white long one. (I know there's TWO long white wigs on the Dollbot website, but they're just not "the one", you know?)

You miiiight have better luck looking for Blythe wigs, since that terminology appears to be popular. Searching for 'Blythe wig' on Mandarake turns up a lot of... hot messes, actually, but they're there. Same with Etsy. Heck, there's one on Amazon.

I got my 9-10 wig on etsy. You can type in " doll wig" For My Doll also has some really nice options in that size

Blythe is actually catagorized as 10-11, but as all my Blythes have had rooted hair, I admittedly don't have experience with wigs for them. If they work on a 9-10 head? Huge win, because there's a ton of Blythe resources out there!

That said, 9-10 has become a bit rarer, at least in Western-friendly shopping. As the popular style in BJD shifted more to realism, the heads got smaller. All the shops listed do still make them though, and DollyTeria and Mandarake both carry them regularly. Another trick if searching an Ebay / Buyee / etc. is to use the search term '10 wig' in the dolls category, as that typically eliminates most of the fluff. In the US, it will also net you a lot of 10-11 for American Girl, but in Japan it typically narrows you down to just BJD. In current circumstances, I use Buyee to search, but ZenMarket to buy, as Buyee hasn't been filling out its customs forms properly for US protocol for some time.

Here's a wig on Ebay that popped up. If you don't mind ordering from China, your options expand quite substantially. (Although you might want to ask the TaoBao experts on that, as virtually anything you see on Ebay is bound to be cheaper on TaoBao.)

  • Dee Ribbon caries 9-10 wigs. They turn up on Japanese secondhand now and again.
  • They're not open right now, but I bought two wigs from IchigoHamster that fit my Dollbot nicely, despite being intended for DD. They're definitely closer to a 9 as they are large on my Smart Dolls.
  • McCurly Brokin sometimes carries 9-10 (They call it 9.5). I don't know if they sell directly to overseas or not, and the only dealer I've seen carry them is AnubisDoll. But I know they get around, so they must be somewhere.

Accounting for the aforementioned Luts, Leeke, Dollce, and ForMyDoll... I can't think of any more brand names of off the top of my head who do 9-10, although if you were to ever commission a wig, there are still individual wigmakers who do. I went with a Leekeworld wig for my last large head. Switch has 9 wigs which might work? The one Switch wig I tried on a 9-10 was a hair too small, and never fit properly. But I got it secondhand, so the sizing may have been misremembered.

The thing is, some wigs are stretchy enough to be fine. A Missantrope / Penguin Workshop / etc. wig meant for Dollfie might fit, as some Dollfie heads are on the larger side, if not quite matching Dollbot's power.

Best of luck to you! Dollbot noggins are massive for sure.
