Dollfie Dream Hip Joint Alternatives

Recommended Posts

pinkseifuku

Hi everyone! I've always been frustrated with how easily all my Dollfie legs get loose and pop off. It definitely has ruined the experience for me :(. I have been able to get them back on a few times, but my hands genuinely hurt and I'm not strong enough to fix them each time.

Is there a replacement hip joint I can use to replace the original one? I found one from Shiroi here, but it's sold out. Or is there a 3d file I can use to commission my friend to print some for me?

I've also been thinking of just selling the body and doing a hybrid of the head with another body, but I'm not sure which one. I've sold my MDD bodies because of this and am using Obitsu bodies now with no issue, for example. My Smartdoll body has no problem and is very sensory friendly for me to work with.

Morning Chance (Asachan) makes a replacement frame for DD, but I've never tried it. @SFSakana is our resident expert on that one. I do have their neck parts and the x-heart unit, and they are well made.

You can order from them directly or work with a proxy like Sophie Bear.

The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? Heroin is illegal, Dollfie Dreams probably should be.

“Empty wallets, full hearts.” That’s probably an apt description for the effects of DD addiction

Having just received a body that uses said frame (even though it's the DD3 version), I can help a little bit.

Asachan's frames are made of (3D printed?) nylon, and replace chunks of the original frame (wrists, neck, whole torso, hips and thighs, shins, ankles).

AFAIK, to fully replace the hip joints you need both the torso frame and the thigh frame, for the body type you have. (M)DD3 is not compatible with (M)DDf3, and (M)DDf3 is not compatible with (M)DD 2.0. I think it is possible to buy torso ("frame") and thigh frame ("karen unit") together in one package, but they're also sold separately.

The bad: You need to remove the original frame pieces from the vinyl skins. Apparently especially the thighs are very hard to do, even when softening the thigh skins with considerable heat. Also, to obtain maximum freedom of movement, you will need to process (shave off) parts of the vinyl skins. This blog shows the process for a MDD f3 body: https://gonta918.blog.fc2.com/blog-entry-321.html

Without the modification of the vinyl skins the articulation is only slightly better than with the Volks frame. The previous owner of the DD body I received didn't do it, and as a result the installed shin frames ("otome unit") could not actually provide the additional movement they give when properly installed.
