Dollfie Dream Fern (from Frieren at the funeral / Beyond Journeys end)

All I can personally say is that Fern looks way too cheerfull and the staff way too plastic. Otherwise the outfit and styling are quite bob-on.

the main Frieren site will update at some point With apparent details of a DDS 2.0 Frieren as well... (I wonder if volks will be willing to take my money for one this time around...)

Oooh exciting! I passed on Frieren before, but I may end up trying to get her this time. They do look very cute together! 

Interesting that Fern is DD when her voluptuousness would justify DDDy and she could have been the first DDDy 2.0. 

Yeah, I would have thought Fern would have been DDDy, but a DD with a large bust will also do.

I agree, it’s probably the fastest there’s ever been a release. I was just looking at the DD anniversary thread thinking about how we still haven’t seen the DDS/MDD/DDDy rerelease yet, suddenly thought ‘wait, is it Frieren?’, then realised Frieren actually got announced after that voting had already concluded(Literally right after). So…Frieren managed to come out twice before we found out who all of the anniversary poll winners were!

I also agree on the staff looking a bit on the plastics side. I think Fern is cute, although I did expect her to look a little more deadpan.

Hm, I was going to make one of my dolls a Fern cosplay to have her when I cosplay Frieren but maybe I'll just get an actual Fern? She's really cute. I like the little smile, personally. Things to consider 🤔 Will still have to make a Stark cosplay for my boy tho. Unless..? Lol jk doubt we'd ever see an official Stark. (Or Sein, my beloved.)

I do agree on the staff as well tho. I hope they fix it a little (even if with just paint), for the release. For the amount these dolls cost, I shouldn't have to paint that staff to look better myself.

You Could take some Finer Grits of Sanding Sponges ("Godhand" Brand Blocks are my VERY Recommended Go-To)

to Micro-Roughen that Staff's Finish; working from perhaps #1000 through 2000/4000/6000/ to #8000 or so...

My curse of buying TCDoll outfits has struck again. First it was Takina and Chisato and now Fern. To be fair I was expecting a Fern. I don't know why they didn't release her with Frieren 1.0. Maybe they had production issues with her staff. It still looks 😪.

Also I don't know if they've quite captured Fern. They should have just recycled the Takina head mould.

The TCDoll outfit almost fits a DDdy. Now I have some teeny safety pins so I'll see if I can stitch Towa into the Fern outfit.

At least they're making new characters again and not just re-releasing old dolls. Well almost.

My recent outfit buying predicts that Hitori Gotoh or Ai Hoshino will be their next release.

I mean, sure, but I'm saying I shouldn't have to do that, though 🤷🏽‍♀️ Like it's already a $700 (ballpark est based on others) fullset, the staff should just look better out of the box. Could I? Of course. I've made things for dolls, I cosplay. I techncially know how. But the principle is, I shouldn't have to when you're already charging so much.

For reference, the weapons on the FFXIV twins look FANTASTIC (source: I saw them in person), and they are much much more complicated designs than that staff. They can do better.

Welp, the main site has been updated with details, and apparently the body is not the only upgrade Frieren got....

The suitcase is part of the set now, I repeat, the suitcase is part of the set.

I still remember failing to get through on the site for Frieren….

I dont know how to feel about Frieren losing the winter outfit for a suitcase. 

The new frieren is 3k yen cheaper but the winter outfit goes for 13k yen.

mmm, I was a bit bummed out that the winter outfit is the optional extra now, since I really prefer the inner uniform of that versus the normal one.

in terms of value added, versus value lost. the suitcase might end up at maybe around 7000yen since volks has typically bumped up the price for base bodies when they get upgraded. And that seems on par with what volks might ask for a similar thing as an accessory (cloth/pleather bags starting at around 4k yen and the flight cases ending up to 9600yen). It looks a bit plastic, but still seems to have metal latches and a pleather handle... which may or may not age well.

If anyone has a decent 3D printer there's a Fern staff on thingiverse. I did print it but it was small and the wrong colour. Now I don't think I'll bother printing another one.

The Frieren change is interesting and annoying. Well if somebody doesn't want the suitcase then I'd be interested in it.

click war - whoever can get item into cart and check-out first gets it!! There are no holds

Compared to item lotteries (with days to fill out that cart & submit it), or regular laid-back shopping
