Smartdoll museum donation

I had originally wanted to put this in the Debacle thread but after thinking about it, it should have its own post.  So here goes.

Hey guys and gals.  I wanted to share something I experienced this past Saturday at a doll meet at the NC Doll and Toy Museum.

The Carolina Smart Doll Group on Facebook is the sister group to the Lower SC BJD group that I am a part of.  Three years ago we lost the leader of that group, Tommy Meggs, to a heart attack.  I was at his home for a doll meet when that happened.  He was one of my best friends and I still miss him.

On Saturday, we went to the doll museum up near Salisbury NC for a dedication ceremony.  Members of the group pooled money together to donate a full Smartdoll Mirai to the museum in Tommys name.  Here's some pics of her.

The museum was very happy to add what they called a "newer, cooler" doll to their displays.  They even gave her a very nice display case right up front.  But this isn't what I am talking about experiencing.

THIS is what I'm talking about:

THAT is a prototype of the new Cortex body shell with the newest Evolve frame inside.  Danny donated it to the group and the museum in Tommys name.  No one asked him to, he saw our meetup advertised on Facebook and contacted one of the people in the NC group.  When they told him what was going on, he said he wanted to contribute and sent that proto doll.  Everyone was amazed at the generosity.

Here are the Mirai and Cortex dolls in their new display at the museum.

We did not print those placards.  The museum did.  I like the added touch of them.

Since these were donated in someone's name, these two dolls will ALWAYS be there on display and will not be sold or rotated off of display.  They are a permanent part of the museum.  I think that is pretty dang cool.

Now I am NOT trying to sing Danny's praises here.  I'm not saying there was any underlying reason for his donation other than doing something nice.  I just wanted to share this with people because:

Smartdolls were involved.

They are in a real museum.

They represent the love my friend Tommy had for these dolls.

Their creator was thoughtful enough to want to contribute.

That's all I am saying.

Thank you for looking and reading.  <3

I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.

That's actually quite sweet, and I will say I may have teared up a little. Regardless of DChoo's underlying motives, that was something very nice, and he definitely didn't need to do that. That's super cool and I'll have to go see them some day.

Donating a Smart Doll in a good friends name is a really nice thing. I think Mirai is the perfect doll for that.

It is nice that Danny donated a doll himself too. That he chooses for something that ads really something unique to the museum collection makes it better. I think he chooses the perfect smart doll to pair up with Mirai.

They both look great on display. And it is nice they get a permanent place in the museum collection.
