OBITSU 50 ~ AZONE AZ02 Arm Length Difference

Recommended Posts

I Just stumbled Upon this... And i Feel it Important to Call Attention To.

There is a Significant Difference in Vinyl Arm Shell Length between AZONE AZ02 and OBITSU 50 Arms... Despite Both appearing Virtually Identical otherwise;

- OBITSU 50 Arm Shells -

- AZONE AZ02 Arm Shells -

EDIT; I Think i Understand what's Actually Going On here;

the OBITSU 50 Shells are a Softer Vinyl... Allowing the Shell sets to Come Together Tighter at the Elbows.

Also; though the Wrists appear to be at about the same place as they usually are, in Reality; the Tighter Elbows mean

that the Elbow Joint Receptacles Reach Farther down the Forearm, Allowing the Wrist Shafts can slide deeper into them.

This Results in a FAR Tighter Fit... And Hands/Wrists that no longer want to fall right out and off of the Arm under much of any Manipulation.

Regarding the outer shell being softer/harder:  A number of years ago, Obitsu changed the hardness of the 50cm body shell parts.  This change affected Azone's AZO2 body too, as Obitsu produces them for Azone.

If I remember correctly:

  • Busts & lower torso got stiffer
  • Arms & legs got softer

 I liked the change, except for the busts becoming stiffer.

So older bodies will have the harder arm shells, and newer bodies will have the softer shells.

Your Yukari AZO2 body is older, so it could have the harder arm shells.  The Kureha AZO2 body might have the softer arm shells.

Below were some official pictures from Obitsu (old versions on left, new on right)

That Makes Sense. still; the "My Sweet Girl" Kureha i got was Released in 2022... and she's got Rigid Vinyl for All of her Shell Parts.

As you Said; my Shrine Maiden Yukari was 2017 Release... and She's got Soft Vinyl upper/lower Torso halves,

and Rigid shells throughout for All Limbs.

Don't Know when the Limb Shells that i got off of Japanese EBAY sellers for my AP Custom Girl Mayuka were Made;

but None of them are as Soft as her AP Torso is... but they're Definitely not as Rigid as All of Kureha's Parts are, Nor as Rigid as Yukari's Limbs...

I checked a post I made some time ago, and Obitsu/Azone changed the stiffness of the body parts in late 2019/early 2020.

AZO2/Obitsu 50s up to mid/late 2019:

Rigid body shell (arms & legs), Soft bust & lower torso

AZO2/Obitsu 50s ~Dec 2019 onwards:

Entire body shell changed to semi-rigid.

So that seems to fit the AZO2 bodies that you have.  Kureha, should have the entirely semi-rigid shell.  Yukari should have rigid arms & legs (stiffer than Kureha's), and a soft bust & lower torso.

Yeah... I had Gotten Yukari off of the BAY early this year for Cheap, supposedly NoS Sealed.

For the Most Part, id did seem as if she was indeed New... Except how FLOPPY she was out of Box.

i had to fully Dismantle her... to find that both her Chest Frame and Hip-T-Bar modules were Cracked and Split all over.

Repairing/Reinforcing all that i could with CA Glue an such... i did take Notice of how Extra-Rigid her Thigh Shells seemed to be.

Well, My initial impressions were clearly on-the-money there; OBITSU did indeed make significant Changes/Refinements

to the Composition of AZONE's AZ02 between 2017 and 2022...

Sometimes even new dolls (using the Obitsu frame) arrive with cracked arm sockets.  It might be from shipping, but it's one of the known weak points of the Obitsu frame.  The new GGR frame has reinforced those sockets.  But it might be several years before they offer the new frame parts to Azone, as for now, it's Obitsu's exclusive product.
