just saw this today, hope it's okay to post & that this is the right forum section for it! but there seems to be a new vinyl body maker!

their name is merry belle (@merrybelle_doll on twitter) and the tweet says they'll be debuting this body (named 'yubel') at idoll74! it seems to be the same height as mdd? visually it reminds me a lot of obitsu bodies, but with much nicer joints... i'm excited for more information to come out about it! :o

mm, popped up my feed as well.

Some interesting observations are that the legs rotate at the thighs, and not the kneas as traditionally. since the kneas have a peanut style double joint, as well as the elbows.  The shoulder and hip balljoints might by the look of it even be using separate friction plugs (at least the shoulders have a weird circle at the front of them), and if so that would be a neat addition.

Will have to see how uniform the rotating seam on the thighs behaves, and if the sides of the elbow vinyl pieces stick out in full articulation.

But no mention about price yet, but looking at the skeleton, id guess it might be around Volks MDD money.

Oh, that looks cute! I will keep my eye on that, also very curious what the price point will be.

With that neck peg it looks very easy to hybrid with both DD heads as well as Imomo, which could make it an attractive body alternative.

Personally I would love if some more pear-shape vinyl bodies in that scale would pop up, haha.

I saw these at I-Doll today (err, technically yesterday) and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised.

As you can see in the photos, there were a few custom painted ones on display that really showed off what the basic sculpt is capable of. With the right faceup, these look just as cute as most MDDs.

The vinyl feels cheaper than DD or SmD, but on par with or better than Obitsu. The skeleton moves really fluidly and is capable of pretty much any pose you can imagine. Unfortunately, the vinyl shells limit the range of motion that the skeleton is capable of (e.g., the legs can’t move much higher than 90 degrees), but it can sit seiza and even petan-zuwari (W-sitting?) thanks to the double shell on the thigh that allows you to rotate the legs sideways.

Overall, I liked it better than Dollbot, another relatively new doll in the market that I also handled before its official launch. The vinyl felt nice and the skeleton moved like butter. The body is well-proportioned and more or less sexless, so you can make your doll male or female right off the bat without waiting for alternative parts, and the basic sculpt is really versatile.

@Tierparkzone was not as impressed with it, but he did take pictures that he might be willing to share here.

I definitely already like how the knees look, no ugly gapping as far as I can see, that is nice.

Was there any info about the price yet?

The preorder price is ¥31,900 (including tax). I don’t know if that will also be the regular price.

I too got to check out these bodies at I-Doll last week.

The proportions are indeed very similar to MDD. - To the point where one of the staff told me that almost every outfit made for MDD should fit them without issue.

I think the frame is very well constructed, with lots of adjustment screws in (what appeared to me) even more places than you have on a regular f3/2.0 DD. It still felt surprisingly light. The double jointed knees and elbows are really well done and they fold out and back in smoothly in a way that always keeps them looking reasonably pretty. The vinyl shell also integrates well with them.

Unfortunately, the motion range of the legs is somewhat limited: At the hip, the legs can bend barely beyond 90 degrees. Even the double jointed knees don't go all the way. - There was always still an angle of 25-30-ish degrees left. They go further than shown in the photo below, but not by much. That was especially surprising to me, since the elbows were able to bend fully.

During posing, I also accidentally popped open the thigh seam/joint in the vinyl. It seems like it's easy enough to put back together on a nude doll, but I could see that getting annoying if you have to do it through clothing repeatedly.

The fullsets they showed off were all very cute. @luna_Lillie already posted a few shots and mine aren't that different, but here they are for completion's sake:

For me personally, the limited motion range at the hips is a bit of a bummer, but overall, I think the body is fine and apart from the above limitations poses pretty well.
