pscindy_13 Posted August 29 Hi! I'm looking to adopt a new dollfie girl buuuut they have a cat and i'm allergic 🤧 I thought i would wash the doll well to get any cat furr and stuff off so its safe for me to use but then I thought about the wig, face up, and the soft vinyl material its made of. Is it safe to wash a dollfie? Like the painted face will be ok and do you think it'd be allergy free or the soft vinyl material of it won't make it allergy safe for me even if washed? Thank you, i hope someone can answer my question.
GirlWiththeDragoonTattoo Posted August 29 Unless they let the cat cuddle with the doll every night, I honestly don't think you'd need to worry about the doll itself. If it comes with hair/clothes, I'd worry mainly about washing those. The doll itself should be fine with a simple wipe down with a damp cloth. What made me worry was she placed anya on her carpet and bed to take pictures so it became covered inn fur/lint.
ragnamuffin Posted August 29 Depends how allergic you are. If even small amounts of cat hair can trigger a potentially life-threatening reaction then maybe it’s not a good idea, but if you just get itchy eyes then it should be possible to get most of it off by washing it. Clothing and wigs can be washed with dish detergent, the body and face can be wiped down or washed with soap and water, but it’s a little more labour-intensive if you go this route since you’ll have to take the body apart. If you’re really concerned, you can take the vinyl shells off the skeleton and wash them separately. Make sure they dry completely in an upright position (in my experience, this takes 2-3 days). Volks faceups are really sturdy and washing shouldn’t ruin it, but if you’re worried then just brush it with an unused makeup brush to get any hairs off and let it air out for a day or two.
