New Standard Models - Himari & Chikage

I’m surprised no one’s talking about this here since they seem to be making the rounds on social media, but in case you were wondering who this girl and this girl wearing the new hakama sets for the September release are, look no further!

Old standard models Candy, Mirai and Karin are being retired at the end of the month, and taking their places are DD 2.0 Himari and DDS 2.0 Chikage.

They’ll be available from October 11th, making their debut at the DD Gathering event. Interestingly, they come with white undercaps and Chikage comes with normal 01 hand parts despite being a DDS.

Wow I actually really like Chikage a lot. I’m looking forward to seeing more pics of her.

Candy and Mirai being retired truly feels like the end of an era though.

edit: just realised this leaves Towa as the last of the old standard models still standing, but I guess they’ll replace her once they upgrade DDDy? (Edit2: I, like Volks, forgot DDP existed)
I also wonder if Candy/Mirai and Karin are going to end up as limited blank DDH at some point the way Liliru did.

Volks News lists her sculpt as original Chikage head. There's definitely some similarities in design but they should be different sculpts.

According to this comparison pic from the Dollfie Dream Discord, no it is not, but I’m wondering if maybe, like some of the Dream Choice heads, it’s the same mold just with modified lips, and the jawline is just a lighting issue…

I'm so excited for these new standard models. I feel like they're more on par with their limited character sculpts now. I'll definitely be getting Chikage, as well.

I plan on getting Chikage myself. I absolutely fell in love with her. I might get Himari too since we have the same face shape and I don’t see a lot of dolls with that face shape 

Any word on when these girls will be available in Volks USA? 

I've decided I'm totally getting Chikage. She's just so pretty!

Chikage is so cute! I'm definitely going to plan on getting her at some point next year (I am SO glad she's a standard girlie and not limited!😅)

YAY, I'm so glad we're getting new standard models! I'm also on the Chikage hype train, she's so adorable and I love her default eyes and wig! Himari's eyes are really pretty and her sculpt looks super versatile, I bet she would make a great alternative to a lot of limited characters sculpts.

I saw this user who turned Chikage into Empty Sekai Miku, and I think that works a lot better than regular Miku wearing it.

With the new standard models now out, Volks finally has them on display at Doll Point. Today I managed to stop by and check them out in person. - And I think they are both really cute. Especially for Himari, the promo pictures don't really do her justice. Chikage still has the edge, although with her expression, there might be a few tricky angles (will probably also depend on the lighting).

The Halloween outfits (especially the hoodie) make it a bit trickier to show them off in their full glory, but I tried to capture them from a few different angles, so people can better make up their minds.

Himari has nice eyes, quite similar to some of the more "robotic" eyes out there with the circles.

oh YAY! thank you for posting these :3 I’ve been dying to see as many irl pics as possible while i wait for my Chikage to arrive.

She is SO CUTE! slightly mysterious and bashful. i love her even more after these pics! the different angles of her expression are really perfect for the custom i have in mind for her. (Of course that could all change once I actually have her in my hands, and she could decide to have an entirely different personality than the one i’m thinking of haha)

And Himari is quite pretty  particularly the 3rd solo picture of her face closer up. I agree she looks even better than in the promo pics.

Right? The small red accent under her eye gives a bit the feel of classic Japanese makeup, so she would probably work well styled like that. But it's subtle enough that it probably won't clash with other styles either.

 

Something that stood out to me with Chikage was that her eyes showed a very apparent screen printing pattern. With Himari it wasn't standing out as much but still present. Here's some full res crop-ins of the above photos to illustrate what I mean:

I don't see this on any other Volks eyes I own, so I assume it's because the two dolls at Doll Point are pre-production samples? I guess we'll have to hear from people who bought them.

Towa is irreplaceable. The new grey haired girl looks a little like her though.

Both new standard models are excellent though, maybe the best double act since Takina and Chisato.

 Himari is much more of my style of doll she is ADORABLE, I am super considering getting her! If anyone does get her I cant wait to see what people do to customize her tbh.
