New Standard Models - Himari & Chikage

Got an email from Volks today that my Chikage has shipped!!!

DHL is usually quite fast so I expect her to arrive soon! (hopefully the ongoing postal strike here in Canada doesn’t delay things, I don’t think it will as DHL is separate from Canada Post 🤞)

I will make an unboxing thread for her in the New Arrivals section once she’s home~ :3 

I haven’t seen these shared here so I thought I would! I read through the guidelines and did not see any rules about sharing external social media links, so I assume it is allowed! 

I apologize if I am not posting the links in the preferred way, please don’t hesitate to correct me if I am!

Anyway, on to the good stuff~

I highly recommend taking a look through each photo slide if you’re thinking of getting either of these girls~

So it turns out, the printing pattern is indeed on the retail dolls' eyes as well! - I could confirm with @ragnamuffin's Chikage.

While it doesn't stand out that much and isn't really a deal breaker (I'm more used to seeing this on PVC anime scale figures, though), it kinda feels like Volks is trying to cheap out here...

Every day Volks posts new images of Himari looking perfect and I tap my foot waiting for VolksUSA to eventually get her because I need her so bad 😭

Good news! 🎉 VOLKS USA just shared on X that they’ll be available Nov 21 at 10am (PT).

Looks like the wait is almost over.

I got me a Chikage today, so that's a thing. Also glad I set my clock and ordered her at noon, I hear they sold out pretty fast today. Good thing she's standard and will restock at some point.

I got one, too!  I ordered right when they went up for sale, since I noticed that they disappeared pretty fast on the international shop. 

Supposed to be on a spending diet so I was going to try and wait since they're standard models... but the call of Himari's perfect face was too strong 😭 So her and a bunch of outfits will be on the way soon, so exciting~

Waiting patiently for a restock of Chikage, I was hoping to get her as a Christmas present to myself! She has such a cute face that's so different than the rest of my girls. Himari is beautiful too, but she's too similar to my Moe. I also like that Chikage is a DDS, she'll look so cute next to my standard DD girls. If anyone has photos of her in your collection, please share them!

I see Himari includes a headcap - anyone knows whether that is because her wig stains?

I'm not 100% sure (never used it), but the wig cap is black on mine, so probably! 

I heard about Chikage immediately after the US site sold out but she is so gorgeous - many thanks to everyone for sharing photos of her at a bunch of angles to reaffirm I do actually need her 😅

Anyone heard about delays for Chikage? I ordered her from a friend shop (Papattesstore in France) in October and still nada 

They mentioned it could take up to 2 months so I waited, but that was up to the 21st of this month. Now it's the holidays so I assume that's why I'm not getting a reply from them. OTL

I'm sorry I just have to rant.

She’s been pretty consistently out of stock since she released. I tried to get her shortly after she released and still had to back order her. It took a couple of weeks to actually get her in hand, and I’m in Japan!

The friend shop might have based their estimate on the assumption that she would ship out right away, but it’s possible Volks themselves didn’t have any stock at the time either. On top of that, all mail is backlogged right now, so I wouldn’t be surprised if you had to wait until after New Year’s to get her.

So, just to follow up to myself, I still need a horseHimari, but her tail and ears have been received (of course I needed the brown ones).

Quick mini-review: Volks seems to have been taking some lessons from other tail & ear set manufacturers for this one. The ears include clips for easy attachment to a wig - no magnets, but especially no hard to use hairband. They do look a bit cartoony/plush-like, but horse ears being short-haired in reality I don't really see how they could have done that differently. The tail uses a magnet and includes another magnet for inside the doll body/clothes. It has a wire inside for posing, and also looks very much like a real horse tail. Incidentally, the horse tail is 22-23 cm long, which makes it more suitable for DD/DDS/DDP-size dolls. Fo MDD it might be a tad long.

I wish Volks would finally restock Chikage, I want her so much 😢

Or if we knew at least when they plan to do it. 

Edit: I am so happy, I was able to buy her yesterday (4. February) when they re-stocked her 🥰

I just noticed they were on there. But of course the bigger news is Towa is out of stock. Maybe they've produced all the Towas they will ever produce.

I'm so curious on if/when they will release a new DDdy standard model to go with these ones. I wonder what kind of head/vibe she will have. I hope they will give us a more mature lady with smaller eyes similar to dch31 and 26, that would be the dream. Though they might go for more cute and round looking at the new DD,DDS, and MDD models they just put out.
