New MDD gets new goodies

I've recently finished the faceup for Shockwave, my Transformers -inspired MDD. (And scraped off part of one eyelash already. Oops.) But new doll with slightly different proportions and clothing needs to my BJDs means one thing: time to order stuff.

Cracking open the box. Not a lot of stuff in this order, but I got the tit bird coat on a previous shipment and she's wearing pajamas I made, so she does have some stuff.

The terrible realization that you are vinyl and need stain protection.

...followed by the realization that you may not be able to wear your new shirt until January.

Arguably the most important thing in the box? Grippy hands. The altmode gun doesn't fit perfectly, but...

...she's got no depth perception, the shot's gonna go wild anyway.

Very cute! Always love Transformers inspired dolls! I really want to do one myself but I can never settle on a design direction lol. Someday..

Ol' cyclops got cuter?! The Autobots are in danger now. (Also, is that the MP Shockwave minime of his gun mode? That's brilliant.)

It's always delightful to see more TF-inspired Dollfies! I'm guessing you're already familiar with @F-15alice's girls? And of course there are insane mods with Gundam parts, and many cool faceups out there on the wider net. I still need to get around to actually making one myself- the body I was planning to use got usurped by a Warframe-themed doll. 

It's probably because of Whirl's holoform, but I'm getting IDW vibes from this Shockwave. You nailed the impenetrable stare and potentially-disapproving mouth expression, since she has a month now. Adding the bunny ears for his little wingtips was a stroke of genius, and that eye is properly intense. I wouldn't have thought to translate a single-optic character into doll form, but clearly, you're nailing it. Also, this faceup is impressive on a technical level- I doubt I could do half as well for my first one, and I've been painting resin and hard plastic dolls now for sixteen years. You did fantastic with the purple lining inside the black lashes, and the strokes are clean and smooth. The brows and mouth are just right- not too much and not too little- as is the blush. Bravo all around! I hope she can be patient for January; I'm looking forward to seeing her in various clothes.

Yes, that is the MP Shockwave mini gun; as she was being shipped I realized that she was likely going to be the right size for it and made sure to order hands. And yes, I've seen @F-15alice's dolls-they were a huge inspiration as I worked on her faceup. I'm terribly curious to see more Transformers dolls-and the Warframe one. I need to get back into that game.

And thank you so much for the feedback on the faceup! I'm really happy with how it turned out and I hope I can keep things as neat when I finally bite the bullet and fix the part that I scuffed. For whatever reason, I found this a lot easier and more enjoyable than a semi-realistic BJD faceup to try. It may be because it's so stylized. (And yes, when I was working on the eyepatch, I did have thoughts of Whirl's holoform myself. Now there's one who'd be easy to reference for a doll.)
