juu-yuki Posted March 21, 2012 Seems like Airi is fitting into this community just fine. So nice to see other owners enjoying my customized family. It's always nerve racking to mess with limited heads, knowing that there is that risk of ruining it. >^< Here is a closer look at Airi's faceup: Airi Collection: Violinist by Juu-Yuki, on Flickr Airi Collection: Violinist by Juu-Yuki, on Flickr It looks so much better in daylight. Indoor lighting makes her look like a zombie sometimes >^< OMG Airi's so pretty!! She's so lady-like and mysterious at the same time (Reminds me of Rufina from Shining Hearts lol random). And I'm pro re-make up limited molds because they always end up really really nice Ooh so glad she's coming to the meet so we can all stare at her lol xD. I totally agree - there's nothing that makes a DD even more special than taking a limited mold and re-doing their face up! Juu-Yuki's Sakura and Alice are proof of it! Not to mention the amazing heads we've seen on YJA.. It's definitely not for the timid - and the result is just fantastic. MMhmmm -nod nod- I find it easier to bond with customized girls. I was going to sell my Reimu awhile ago since I just didn't have that special connection with her. Plastic stopped me and told me to give her a new faceup XD. Now I am loving her more than ever and she blends right into the family. I also love seeing customized girls. They stand out so much more to me because I can see the love and work that their owners put into them. Hehe, they always have so much character and personality. misskale Posted March 21, 2012 I know this is going to sound weird but, for some reason I am sure that if I keep the default eyes in the head I'll keep the faceup. I don't know why that is, and I'm fairly sure it's not about being afraid to change it. Maybe it's the idea that I'm still using the doll that the company designed somehow. But ones where I don't like the eyes, which is many of them, yeah sure I'd redo the faces in a heartbeat.

But ones where I don't like the eyes, which is many of them, yeah sure I'd redo the faces in a heartbeat. What normally happens is if you like the eyes, there is a good chance that you will also like the faceup, since the two goes together. An example would be Yuki. I would not do a remakeup of her, not just because she is expensive, but because there is nothing to change. She is perfect, eyes and all. If the VOLKS's default faceup doesn't jump out at me or if I don't feel anything for the doll I will wipe it all off and redo it, even if their eyes are pretty. An example for me would be Sasara, Saber Lily, Kanu, and Tamaki.... just to name the expensive and rare ones. ^^" It's not like I don't like them or don't find them pretty. I just don't find them... special and I just don't get that.... feeling.... I can't explain it. Just ignore me LOLL Im weird. http://juu-yuki.com Dolly Shop: http://www.lizanna.com
Nightmare Tea Posted March 21, 2012 I have a quick question. Do you use black to paint the eyelash parts?
juu-yuki Posted March 22, 2012 I have a quick question.Do you use black to paint the eyelash parts? Yes, it's black. Well... not completely.....derp? I painted it in brown at first but than painted over it with a diluted black since I thought it would match her eyes and personality better. Sakura's eyeliner here is done in brown for a more gentle look: Sakura Collection: Sweet Smile by Juu-Yuki, on Flickr http://juu-yuki.com Dolly Shop: http://www.lizanna.com
Nightmare Tea Posted March 22, 2012 Thank you! Yeah, since I'm going for more of a gentle look, I think I will go for a darker brown.
PlasticFantastic Posted March 22, 2012 Thank you!Yeah, since I'm going for more of a gentle look, I think I will go for a darker brown. Going with browns instead of blacks take away the harshness - think of it like Mascara for people. Black can look very severe if used too heavily or incorrectly on a faceup.
