Help With Singing Up For Volks GL

As it stands, I'm fairly certain Volks doesn't take my card (not surprising since it's AmEx, the number doesn't line up with the standard 16 digits.) I'm trying to link my account to one so I can get membership. However, my dad pointed out this:

I need a sanity check here. Volks Global is for people OUTSIDE of Japan, right?  People who, realistically, would probably not have a credit card issued in Japan? Is this just auto translation weirdness?

Prepaid and debit cards aside, are there any cards from specific banks they won't take?

This blurb is a holdover from their other pages and is targeted at Japanese customers. A lot of stores in Japan say they don’t accept credit cards issued outside of Japan as a form of defense for when things go wrong and they don’t want to deal with it.

i signed up with my Canadian debit card and had no issues. it just took a few days for the membership to process and appear on my account.  

I had no issue signing up wirh a MasterCard, however I had some trouble when my phone tried to use its "virtual card" saved in my Google account. 

I'm wondering if you have a PayPal? If you can make a payment through a PayPal account where your card info is already saved, it should circumvent the issue. 

Volks site does say it takes AmEx ... Have you tried ordering with it just to check? If it doesn't work, I definitely suggest the PayPal route.

The signup page says you need to have a credit card saved to your account to sign up for a membership, so I don’t think PayPal is a viable option here.

I used my Bank of America debit card and it worked. I've been a GL member since 2022 and had no issues, just make sure you sign up as a GL member a day or so before any VS/VIP/GL only events you want to participate in.

I haven't tried ordering anything, no. With the current tariffs in the US I'm trying to limit my purchases on the international site.

When I tried to put my number it was 2 digits off from the standard 4x4 code which I think is what tripped the system up. I'll look around today and see if there's a way to fix that
