TheL1985 Posted November 14 I can't stand too much fanservice either. A good story should stand on its own. A lot of pantyshots and boob-jiggling, to me, seem to be a distraction from a story that usually isn't very good. My recommendations: If you like Death Note, Erased is very good. A man finds himself going back in time to his childhood in 1989 to solve the abduction and murder of one of his old classmates. Frieren: At Journey's End is about an elf named Frieren who is retracing the path of a quest she undertook 80 years ago. There are a couple of pervy jokes, but they don't detract from the incredible storyline. Delicious in Dungeon is where my icon comes from! It's a series about some adventurers who have lost their healer to a red dragon. They return to the dungeon to try to resurrect her body, but they have no money for food. So they have to cook and eat the monsters in the dungeon. It's a bit weird, but heartwarming, and the only character who gets "fanservice" at all is the stout dwarf Senshi. If you like Ghibli movies, the short series Sweetness and Lightning is excellent. A widower takes cooking lessons because his late wife was an excellent cook, and he and his 5-year-old daughter are sick of takeout and instant noodles. Very heartwarming, very well-written, and as an added bonus, there are real recipes in every episode, so you can cook the same meals the characters do! Shadows House is incredible. At the mansion known as Shadows House, the Shadows family, who look like 3D shadows, live, along with their living doll servants. I can't say much more without spoiling you, but there's intrigue, the characters are instantly recognizable by both silhouette and personality (which is necessary when half of them are shadows), and lots of shocking discoveries that will leave you wanting more! If you would like to try reading manga, Island in a Puddle is only 5 volumes. A young boy and girl living on their own find themselves in the middle of a dangerous plot when the boy and a serial killer switch bodies. Very thrilling and tense until the end.
