Removing Wrinkles on Clothing

Recommended Posts

Hanyuu

Hello! Some of my dolls' clothing has gained some wrinkles/creases I would like to remove, but I am not sure how to go about doing this. The thought of applying a clothing iron to them is a bit daunting...

Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!

You can always steam them a bit. There is a machine just for that that is about $15 if you're in the US. Or you can use an iron and just let the steam sortf of blow onto the clothes without ironing them.

If you don't have those, simply run a hot shower in your bathroom and hang the clothes in the bathroom while the steam builds for a bit. Since they're doll clothes I can't say how long it will take, but this works wonders with human clothes.

There's always the nuclear option, which is the Clover Mini-Iron. It has a triangular head about the size of my fingertip and is the perfect size for teeny-tiny pressing jobs. (Also quite useful for making doll clothes, which is why I have one!)

Sadly it has gone up in price dramatically for uhhhhhh some reason. Ugh, 2025. Still, if it's an option you're interested in, a decent sale or eBay would be an option.

I steam my clothes when I pull them out of storage and it usually works like a charm, but I've had to use the Clover iron a few times too like Gallye said.  Just make sure the fabric can take whichever choice you make.

Steam is my go-to. It's typically safe for everything. Be careful not to burn your fingers with the steam with such small items! I try to hang them up and only hold the very bottom hem or I wait until I'm done passing the steam to gently tug it instead.

I have absolutely used my regular sized iron tho, with a buffer fabric (fabric you lay on top of the garment to shield it). But, if I ever find that itty bitty iron for a good price, I definitely need to get it!

Thank you so much everyone for the responses! I am very grateful and will definitely try these!

I think I will try and secure a Clover Iron too. The fabric on alot of the clothes is pretty thick so hopefully it shouldn't be too fragile!
