Your Top 5 Doll Horror Stories!

I think everybody here has had some sort of experience which would make any doll owner scream in terror.

I will start with mine.

1. Finding one of my boys who has a 3D printed torso both upper and lower...With his butt broken literally 😱
2. An oldie but a goodie (or a baddie), when my dog peed on my dolls. Thankfully just the legs but I very much had to deep clean them and the clothes.
3. Forgetting my camera...cries
4. Nearly forgetting my dolpa ticket. Thankfully I u turned to fetch it in time.
5. More like embarrassing but I slept in, answered a phone thinking its my mom bc I was half asleep and realized it was the Volks staff calling me about my FCS SD 😩

Haven’t been in the hobby long enough to experience anything super terrifying, but I recently got Sasara’s swimsuit maid outfit, brand new in the bag still and seemingly in great condition, even the shoes looked good for their age, that was until I tried to put them on,,, As soon as I tried to get her foot in I heard it crack and saw the sole coming away from the rest of the shoe at the front. I immediately took it off and just put them straight back in the bag lmao that was scary thou,, shame I cant use them as I really like the design but I’d rather just buy a replacement than risk the shoes falling apart even more - they also slightly stained her white socks which was annoying 💔 

I Like to have one of my Girls with me when me and my sister are in the Home Theater/Entertainment Den most Every Evening.

Once, i had my "Kureha" with me (DDS/DDH-08 Custom)

and, getting Carried away with some Gesturing about something Ridiculous about some Movie or other

(Me and my Sister both have a Penchant for "MSTing" Lousy Movies) i Grazed Kureha enough to Send her Tumbling

off the Stand beside my Seat. She came out of it with Disheveled Wig and Clothes... and Nothing Else~

 

Embarrassing to Admit... it Happened Once Again, Recently; This time with my "Mikuru" (DDP Ribbon) in Attendance.

She Lost her Wig Completely, and, being the Lighter, more Loosey-Goosey DD Pretty; She was All Tweaked Out...

yet Otherwise None the Worser for Wear, Thank God.

5. When I first got Towa I tried posing her in the sitting position. BIG MISTAKE. Her leg fell off and I was almost in tears trying to repair my precious girl.

4. Ordering DDS Megumin and realising she didn't come with her gloved hands. I'm not sure if Mandarake didn't spot this, or I didn't read the description carefully. I still adore her though. Anyway, let that be a warning to anyone buying a full set DD. Make sure they have everything!

3. Gettting completely obsessed with dolls for a while and spending way too much on new dolls. Gah... I knew it was a bubble. Now times are hard but things kind of came to a head while I was ordering the Re:Zero trio at the end of 2024. That was the birth of Shin Sato bot, a.k.a. what appears to be my new business. Now that AI/the economy/age discrimination has killed off my career it's become the most critical thing in my life (after my dolls of course).

2. Towa had a fall a couple of weeks ago and completely destroyed the Lego Daily Bugle. We have rebuilt it, but it's not quite right.

1. The day Kirika got stained real bad. Before this day the only issues I'd had were some minor staining of Towa's hands. Happily the before and after photos show the impressive magical powers of 5% benzoyl peroxide cream.

 

Two months ago or something one of my large resin boys toppled over and bumped his one hand in such a weird angle (I think on the cat scratch cardboard) that two fingers snapped clean off. I got his body used not super long ago and his hands were not pristine anyway (some rubbed off blushing), but man, I was frustrated. Thankfully gluing them back on worked well and it is not very noticeable.

Do I have anything else besides the ususal minor staining incidents ... oh yeah, another one with one of my large reson boys! One time I found a grub of a fabric moth inside his torso. Big yikes, gave me one hell of a scare. Thankfully there was no infestation.
