I cam across the pictures/video of these beautiful dolls on facebook. I assume they are custom dollfie dreams. Anybody willing the to take a guess at which face molds etc. they are? I'd really like to make my own some day.

Sakura for sure looks like DDH-22, but Tomoyo is hard to tell because the picture is too low res to make out her features. The eye shape doesn’t look like anything Volks offers so it’s probably heavily modded and will be hard to identify.

This is a closer picture of Tomoyo. Any ideas?

The problem is not the size but the quality of the photo. It’s hard to see her nose (the shape and how high/low it sits relative to other features because of the light/shading) and lips (whether they’re molded or flat).

If you want to recreate Tomoyo, I think DWC #01 is quite similar (but not the same since the ears are different) or maybe mod a DDH-27, but like I said earlier, it doesn’t look like anything Volks offers off the shelf. She’s either been heavily modded or is a head from a completely different company (possibly Chinese, in which case it’s going to be extremely difficult to accurately identify).

Can you ask the person who posted these photos for more info?

I wish I could, but its a long shot. The images came from a Facebook video that was posted by a CLAMP fan group that posts in Spanish. I read all the comments, but tracing the video back to its origan and getting a response might not be possible. I've already done a little detective work, but I can't find it anywhere else.

I wonder what size DD body was used for these. I know they come in different sizes and "maturity" levels. But I don't know much about them.

So you have two choices for the DDH-22 because I don’t think it will look right with a mature body. You could use the MDD for a child-like appearance (8-10 years old) or the DDP for an early adolescent (11-13 years old).

In the photos you posted, Sakura looks to be DDP-sized, but I’m not sure she’s actually on a DDP body. Her hands in the first pic are jointed, which is not something Volks offers. It might just be the hands, or it might be the whole body. It’s hard to tell because we would need to see the joints to know for sure, but they’re covered by her clothes.

For Tomoyo, I’m thinking more and more that she’s not on a Volks body at all. Her hands don’t look like Dollfie Dream hands, and the proportions of her bust and torso look off. She’s likely on a strung BJD body.

Cardcaptor Sakura seems to be really popular in China so there are a lot of custom eyes, wigs and clothes you can find on Taobao or AliExpress to recreate your own Sakura and Tomoyo. If you find a good faceup artist, it shouldn’t be difficult to recreate these dolls at all.
