Sunlightandtea's smart doll photos and ramblings.

Here's some photos of my dolls. :) This is cinnamon Mirai, she's dressed as one of my characters. Originally she was a dollfie dream, but I changed her to a smart doll because I felt too paranoid about the custom doll being irreplaceable to do much with her. I'm not scared of never being able to replace a cinnamon Mirai, so I am much happier to do stuff with her. These are some of the first photos I took of her. She has since had her wig replaced, because I completely butchered a haircut haha.

I have gotten to own some very rare dolls over the years, and I have sold all of them. I had always dismissed a lot of smart dolls for being common, Mirai chief among them. I thought of the rare dolls as more status symbols than something I really enjoyed. But for some reason, Mirai is one of my favorites I've ever owned and I find that quite funny after spending a lot of time and energy (and 💸) chasing after rare and OOAK doll things. Mirai makes me really, really happy when I see her, and that's really all I want in a doll.

And here is Cinnamon Kizuna! I haven't had much time to take more photos, but I'm completely in love with her. Milk Kizuna was the first doll I had ever owned when I started in the hobby. I ended up selling her, and regretting it years later. So it's a lovely reunion. It also feels very full circle. I entered into the hobby as a very lonely girl starting out in life, and now I'm married, and about to find out the gender of our first baby. I'd like to sew a little dress for Kizuna that's either pink or blue to celebrate once we know. <3 (Given energy and time, of course. Two things you're never promised while pregnant haha)

That's all from me for now. :) Enjoy your dolls to the fullest.

Ohhh can relate! Love my tan DD, but replacement parts in her skin color not being easily accessible took A LOT of fun out of interacting with her
Ended up bonding with my flesh/SW dolls a lot more because of that...

YES oh my gosh, same. I also had a tan DD who had been a grail of mine, and she was just stunning, but I was so scared constantly of stuff happening to her. It totally removed the fun for me too. She's since found a much better home. <3 I'm much happier seeing other people's photos of that doll.

This is honestly so wholesome! I agree, it's not necessarily about how rare/unique/pretty/well made (when it comes to faceups and such)/expensive a doll is, it's much more about how they make us feel, and what makes them special to us.

The rarest sculpts/fullsets, most beautiful/expensive faceups, clothes, wigs, eyes etc, they can only do so much to make you connect with them. It sounds silly, but it really is an emotional thing. 💛

Your girls are lovely, and congrats on your pregnancy! I, too, had a similar full-circle moment when I was pregnant with my first, as I did a soft reset on my collection and moved on my white skin Mariko Sensei in favor of purchasing her semi-white summer festival version, who I have loved more simply because replacement parts are more widely available.

I find Mirai quite charming! I think it's like the pumpkin spice phenomenon -- every popular thing will have its detractors, but these things are also popular because they're good and well liked. Kizuna is also a beauty.

Thank you so much! 😄I had to look up Mariko Sensei, she is so cute! And I could totally see that. Whitey is so pretty but I would bet even harder to get parts for than tan at this point.

And yes, that's a good analogy. And funny since I like pumpkin spice lattes too. They're classics for a reason! 💖
