Honshu Posted September 16 Hi Guys, Newbie here, I have inherited some BJD dolls, but I can not identify this one. I think its a 3D print or something custom. As there is no markings on it, or in its head. Please see link: https://imgur.com/F1rKFky As for some reason I am not able to share pics on here yet. Any idea what this is? Oculae Posted September 16 Its not a 3D print, it's a "pet doll" named Lynn, by Dollzone! https://doll-zone.com/products/lynn-dawn?VariantsId=14748 It looks like it's got a custom paint job, so I'm not sure how to verify if it's legit or not, but it's definitely cast resin. You won't be able to host photos on Dolldreaming until after you've made a few posts for security reasons. URLs work just fine, though! Please ping me when replying! Honshu Posted September 16 Hi Oculae, Thank you for educating me. Now that I know what it is, is this worth any value? I was thinking to display it in a custom box. Does anyone know to verify if its legit or not?
Oculae Posted September 16 Most BJDs retain their value, but it really depends on the brand, age, proof of legitimacy, and condition. If Lynn came with some paperwork (even a purchase recipient counts) that's the easiest way to verify legitimacy. Beyond that it really comes down to the quality of the cast itself, whether the doll was ever available directly from the company in a particular configuration or resin color, whether it's got an original paint job, etc. I'll defer to someone better at resin ID than I am on that one, but more pictures always helps! I'm not too sure on value, since Lynn was only really available as an add-on to an order (pet dolls often are), but based on what I've seen other pet dolls go for secondhand and direct from dealers, I'd expect it's probably in the $100-$200 range. Probably closer to 100 if there's no paperwork, but that custom paint job is nice enough that it could make an impact too. Please ping me when replying! Honshu Posted September 16 Hi Oculae, Thank you again for that great information. Unfortunately I was not able to find any paperwork with it. When I found it in my uncles belongings, it was wrapped inside a bubble wrap. I asked my aunt if she knew anything and she replied, she does not know anything about the BJD Dolls, but if it was jewelry she would know. I hope someone in this group can shed some more light. I will attach a few more links with pics. https://imgur.com/gallery/dho-bjd-unknown-V5HP6K0#q6Zqt4z https://imgur.com/gallery/dho-bjd-unknown-V5HP6K0#eVqOpBG https://imgur.com/gallery/dho-bjd-unknown-V5HP6K0#UPxmJEO

Please see link to help me id this pretty face: https://imgur.com/REaMNni and https://imgur.com/skeBFG1 is this a recast or a legit head? Its certainly pretty though. This guy's from Volks, that headplate is a dead giveaway and indicates he's legit as well! I'm not sure on sculpt, though. Not sure at all about the other guy! Please ping me when replying! ragnamuffin Posted September 17 With all due respect, you really should sign up and post this on Lovely Everyone. It’s a huge community of resin collectors that will be able to answer your questions better than we can, seeing as most of the dolls you inherited seem to be resins. This forum is focused on vinyl dolls. Make your own signature like this
Honshu Posted September 17 Hi Ragnamuffin, Thank you for that suggestion, I will sign up for Lovely Everyone.
Tenukihandcrafts Posted September 18 I’m not familiar with your new crew and agree with Ragnamuffin’s suggestion. Some bjd companies carve or stamp the sculpt ID and sculptor inside the head. Taking inside the head pics can help provide clues about whether sculpt is a recast a recast. Since you’re new to this world, bjd recasts are not looked upon favorably on the good forums. I recommend that once you have an account on Lovely Everyone, do some research before posting your ID request. The Gallery section is growing quickly. For you Volks head, I can’t think of the sculpt name but the head tag provides clues for further research: 17 = 2017, the year the head/doll was produced. 3= March. HPD = Hometown Dolpa, meaning this was a limited edition run for this event (likely a special faceup but I’m no Volks expert). Where Angels Lie is a comprehensive Volks sculpt database: https://www.angelden.net/volks/index.php. It’s organized by sculpt, ie F01 or name - some Volks dolls have names, some have F#, some have both. Good luck identifying your new crew!

This one is a Williams, specifically it’s the Commodore version of him from 2017. https://dollfie.volks.co.jp/sd/special/ginka/sd17williams_cmd.html I’m not 100% sure of his current value especially as just a head, it seems to fluctuate a lot and depends on the version (the most recent release, scholar version on the sdgraffiti body, was not very popular, while the white skin closed-eye version is still pretty popular, although maybe not as much as a few years ago) The only thing throwing me off a bit is his faceup looks like Volks but it’s very faded looking compared to how vivid the Commodore one is. It could just be the lighting, it could be that it faded somehow, but since the eyebrows especially look different to me it could also have been repainted by Volks at some point. They do offer a service to have SD faces repainted if they are damaged, and also a service to have them repainted differently (according to some set styles), but it’s hard to know if that’s what happened here. I hope knowing the sculpt name and year does help out though. *twitter*instagram*art*
Honshu Posted September 21 Thank you guys, I may just change his name to Commodore Ho for now. Lol. So hard to try to find the value of this. At least I now know what it is. Whatever it is worth, he is tiny, its a perfect fit for one of my display boxes.
