ragnamuffin Posted September 17 The forum was down for several days and many people were worried it was gone for good. Could we get an explanation about what happened? 1 18 Make your own signature like this
Tasuke Posted September 17 (edited) Indeed; I Was Worried as Well. First DoA and then This. It Felt like the Start of Some sort of General Attack upon this Hobby, TBH... Edited September 17 by Tasuke
MoiBakaDesu Posted September 17 Yes, I was really scared that whatever happened would have made it impossible to recover the forum. I am glad to see that it is back, but a statement would be great.
sunlightandtea Posted September 17 Agreed completely, so glad you guys are back! That was scary! 😿
Veravey Posted September 17 (edited) I was also hoping for some context to the outage; it was sudden and a bit jarring. It doesn't help that this happened during all of the other forum closure discourse... (-ω-、) An explanation should be provided for the paying Patreon members, and would be polite to give everyone overall. caiusdolls Posted September 17 I would also just like a brief explanation of possible. I was totally worried it was closed for good too, just like DoA. If there’s an issue with something regarding the server, maybe some of us can even help : ).
GirlWiththeDragoonTattoo Posted September 17 It was flagging as unsafe on my phone. I was actually concerned the site had been hacked. So yes, some sort of statement would be helpful. It was quite alarming.
Giragira Posted September 18 Yes I was worried that it was something serious. So when the site came back, I was expecting to see some info of what the issue was.
CaffeinatedCake Posted September 18 I'm relieved to see DD back online! Whatever happened, even if it might seem embarrassing or something, is worth sharing imo! 1 Help! I fell into DD hell!

Patreon was actually one of the first places for me to look after the site went down. - It should be a great backup channel for the admins to communicate / make announcements in case something similar happens again. - Most of the forum members at least know it exists and it's pretty easy ro find with a Google search. 2 Photo Story - Photo Thread - make your own signature like this
Rajke Posted September 18 When the forums went down I contacted Baldylox who replied to me that he informed Averis about the situation. I am glad to see that DollDreaming is live again. But I was worried that it would be some kind of hack or attack on the site. Let’s hope that the rootcause is tackled. 1 Greetz, Rajke
Mizuumi-no-Otome Posted September 18 (edited) I came on and looked for an announcement about the issue as soon as the site went back online. I hope everything is okay. Edited September 19 by Mizuumi-no-Otome
baldylox Posted September 18 I was contacted through all of my social media accounts about this on Sunday. Beyondtime and I both immediately told Averis about it because neither of us had a way to access the forums. I still don't know what the reason was for the outage. I'm just glad it got fixed and that things are back to normal. Thanks to those that reached out to us about this. Billy 5 I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop. BeyondTime Posted September 19 I never got an answer either. I emailed Averis, but didn't get a reply. I don't know if it came back up on it's own or if Averis intervened but never had a chance to answer. I'm honestly more worried about the lack of a reply, and hope he's ok. 2 1 7 “Empty wallets, full hearts.” That’s probably an apt description for the effects of DD addiction. I have so many dolls that they have formed their own country... I'm starting to worry they may decide to invade one of the larger doll nations.

Perhaps it's an idea to have you or @baldylox as a backup should anything happen to Averis? Because the way I read your reply, right now the forum is screwed if something goes wrong on his side and any of the following happens: certificate becomes invalid, domain name lapses, technical issue takes down forum.

Yeah it sounds like DollDreaming could go the way of DoA at any time… 2 Make your own signature like this

Kemonomimicry Posted September 21 Some messages that got posted on Sunday seem to have disappeared without a trace, both in this thread and elsewhere, so I guess that whatever took down the forum ain't fully resolved...

The messages that were removed were messages from bots. Not sure how many people noticed, but there were like 7 or 8 bots running around the site making nonsense posts like the one I replied to above (saying they were going to save their old threads when their account was hours old or that they joined the Zoom meetup when they didn’t). I felt something was off and tried baiting them into replying, but that didn’t work. Then I reached out to the mods and had them run an IP check, but we couldn’t see anything out of the ordinary until they started inserting links to casinos in the text they were quoting. I reported all the ones I saw and it seems like they were removed, but there could still be more I missed, so if you see a post that seems really off somehow keep an eye on them. 4 2 Make your own signature like this
chef_mai Posted September 22 It's AI-generated bot spam to try to sound on topic while surreptitiously advertising links. It's insidious in that it's picking up on things that are true but without understanding what they mean. The usernames and the non-sensical nature of what they were asking were giveaways. Yeah, I'm increasingly noticing them elsewhere too, like in Youtube comments. It's getting quite annoying...

What’s really unsettling is that they were commenting on photos and making apt observations about them. They also started talking to each other, and the last one I saw even changed their profile picture. It seems like a lot of people didn’t realize they weren’t human, which begs the question, is this the future of the Internet? Just bots talking to bots and humans not realizing anything’s amiss… Edited September 22 by ragnamuffin Words 4 Make your own signature like this
froggubi Posted September 22 I was definitely scared that the site was gone for good! I'm very glad to see it's up and running again! Though definitely worrisome no one has heard from the owner, I hope that everything is alright... :c
